Oh fencing sabres huh? Well… meh. I was hoping more in the style of an upgraded machete. I guess I should just say I want a cutlass and be done with it.
Yes, a number of items have the “tazer” ability.
That isnot what I have in mind for shocksabres, though. I’d like that effect to apply randomly as long as the sabre makes contact with the monster/npc. So you just attack regularly, but with a chance to electrify the enemy.
I would find it really counter-intuitive to 'a’ctivate the sabre in order to shock someone.
Screw it, I just might do a moar blades mod.

Or, you know, you could make it well-balanced so it can be merged into mainline?
I don’t think I’ll be finding Calvary swords, hidden blades, sabers, various kinds of katanas, arming swords, and nano-carbon chainsaws in the mainline.
Cavalry swords, sword canes, sabers, cutlasses, yeah, those could all get into mainline. Osafune/Masamune/Muramasa, nope. Nano-carbon chainsaw, nope. Not sure about the arming sword.
Hidden blades AKA that gauntlet blade thing in Assassins Creed.
You’re just 'A’ctivating the taser attached to your weapon right when you hit someone, not that counter-intuitive. Permanently-electrified weapon would be kinda a drain on power reserves, though it also could be fun. Bionic Raiden, ultra-high power storage, UPS bionic, shock saber modded with UPS connector.
If they’re balanced and are something that could reasonably be made by a home-working weaponsmith, why not?
There are both deadlock-style (sometimes literally knife attached to deadlock attached to forearm gauntlet) hidden blades and full-copy, pull-string-via-pinky-finger-to-toggle hidden blades, they could be worn as gauntlets protecting hands/arms (no ‘forearm’ part, what does forearm-cover count as?), with the latter automatically adding stabbing damage to your barehanded/singlehanded weapon melee hits, and the former requiring manual toggle and encumbering you more when blade is out.
Normal swords, again, could be made by a weaponsmith or found in the home of a blade enthusiast. Even katanas and other Japanese blades, what with all Japanese fanatics out there.
Could also be ‘funny’ and add ‘realistic katana straight from Feudal Japan’: takes 12+ hours to make, obscene amount of material due to burnout from thousandfold making, and breaks in a few hits because said thousandfold making was required due to terrible quality of Japanese iron ores.
More flavor variety of maces and swords would’ve been nice. Like Egyptian khopesh (hooksword, basically), preventing enemy from getting knocked back and slowing them down.
I would really like to see those exotic blade weapons spawn in mansions in display racks or something.
Having armour increase damage for certain attacks seems to be generally a pretty awesome mechanic. Not only for stuff like hidden wrist-blades, but also for wearing steeltoed boots and kicking attacks, for example.
So, like, an extra category of items that would only appear in private collections and museums and such?
Does CataDDA have a way of handling those heavy, double crossbows (“dual barrel”) that are courtesy of the fantasy-strategic genre titles such as HOMM? I think those would be perfect, say, in low-to-mid clashes in this game simply cuz your character can deal with the most imminent of threats before making a tactical decision.
by dobule crossbow you mean a crossbow what can have 2 bolts loaded and ready to fire like dobule barrel shotgun? yes it can be done
I would imagine that cavalry sabers, cutlasses etc would be way more common in the US than a true blue battle ready katana.
A sword that is stronger than any other bladed weapon, but is super rare, and must be pulled from a stone. You must fulfill certain prerequisites in order to draw it:
- Your cutting weapons skill and melee skill must both be above 10.
- You must slay at least 1000 enemies.
- You must be a true human. No mutations or bionics.
- You cannot have slain any innocents.
I’m guessing most people could probably guess what its name would be.

Bonus points for the sword to be found in a small ruined shrine guarded by the spirits of warriors who long ago renounced to their flesh in order to eternally protect the sword from the unworthy.
Turns out that you can’t buy materials for renovations when you are a spirit bound to a specific location, and the place fell to ruin. They are all appropriately pissed.

YES. I approve of this message.

Dunno what you’re on about, but Excalibur came from the Lady of the Lake. Sword from the stone broke.
And this wouldn’t make it into mainline. 10’s the cap for skill and “no mutations” needs clarified. (Every trait in the game is a mutation, for code purposes. You’re probably wanting “no traits that aren’t available at default chargen, and occupation traits are OK too if/when they happen”.)
But in general I think this sort of Road Cone thing isn’t worth the trouble.

Someone needs to play more zelda.

NES 1 and 2, LttP, LA, and Majora’s Mask.
Nothing from a stone in the NES, unless you count the graveyard Magic Sword in Second Quest. Master Sword has plenty of room for upgrading in LttP, LA has a generi-sword that gets better when you find enough seashells (ugh!), and Majora’s Mask has a nice variety.
