Someone make a backstory on this Bates guy.
Possible robot/drone armament manufacturer?

Possible robot/drone armament manufacturer?
Maybe Stark Industries style weapons manufacturing?
Bates (a company, name springs from inherited money) was a general manufacturer. Bit low key, often dabbling in the secretive side of the business. Aviation, motors, armaments…
Not exactly a household name as their facilities would be leased by other companies. Their manufacturing plants were automated so all their clients had to do was feed the appropriate data into a database. Bates would of course secretly store all and any data. Sneaky, sneaky. Helped cut down on any planned research.
The Mk. I (as you can tell by the name) as accompanied by their unfinished drone design was to be their first real mark on the world.
As for ammo, both designs use 18x70mm shells.
Flechette swarms, fragmenting explosive slugs and sabot rounds were typically meant for the Mk. I. All for varied ranges and uses. EMP slugs barely made it into the prototype stage.
The Mk. II was to be used with all the standard shotgun load variants (except for birdshot and other weak hunting stuff) but can accept any of the special Mk. I types without any problems.
Better get someone with more ballistics knowledge on this cuz’ I really am just pulling stuff out of my ass.
Magnetically/Electronically activated grenade concept. For your super special rail cannon or whatever.
Explosive mass covered in plates designed to result in heavy fragmentation. Let’s say it all arms at a specific frequency, one reached via magnetism through the case (bottom 3 coils).
The whole slug is “fired” after a short warmup and the case can then be reloaded by hand. The slug itself will inherit some magnetism once fired and can stick to metallic opponents before the fuse runs out.
Meant to be used against bionically enhanced humans.
A solid core (gotta have SOMETHING magnetic in there) HE variant exists to handle robots.
Now all we need is an electronic grenade launcher… and some easy to remember dimensions. Plus some more tech mumbo jumbo.
If nobody has already suggested it i’d like to say:
Lee Enfield,
BREN machinegun,
Browning Machinegun,
MKII Revolver, (I think)
Sten Gun,
Karabinier 98 Kurz, (Otherwise known as K98K)
STG44, otherwise known as the MP44 or MP43,
MG42,
G43,
M1 Carbine,
BAR,
Mauser C96 pistol,
FG 44, (Or is it 42?)
Mosin Nagant,
Luger P08,
Walther P38,
Arisaka,
I’m sorry for the long post

And that’s one reason why we’re not adding a catalogue of antique firearms.
I for one would rather see some newer guns.
Metal Storm caseless super high RPM rifles with caseless underslung grenade launchers, for example. All of which would have no moving parts at all (thus counting as waterproof?).
And I can’t believe nobody has made a minigun yet.
We have these already. Try the Rivtech firearms (caseless and waterproof) and the Rivtech auxiliary caseless shotgun loaded up with explosive rounds makes a dandy underbarrel grenade launcher.
Wait, that thing is auxiliary? Or perhaps it’s a different one? I just found one of the caseless shotguns. I guess I’ll look into that.
Unfortunately I don’t have much ammo for it and I don’t think you can make your own… it being caseless and all.
There’s several caseless shotguns. One of them is an underbarrel weapon.
And if you find the right recipe book you can produce bootleg copies of the different caseless ammunition types. It’s incredibly resource-intensive and takes learning the recipes first, but it’s an alternative to never having enough ammo.
!
You can make caseless ammo despite the caseless ammo description specifically stating that it’s impossible to do that?
Well, this certainly changes things.
*Bootleg
It’s impossible to disassemble or reload it, largely because you can’t reload thin air (no case = nothing to reload) so you have to make it from scratch, and it’s not as good as the pre-cataclysm caseless rounds but still quite serviceable.

Or if you’re incredibly knowledgeable about Fabrication and are super-intelligent, you might be able to work it out from more conventional stuff.
But don’t expect quick results.
Reality is a silly place.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM-DGaNmtA0[/quote]It seems like an interesting concept, but the recoil for a single .45, let alone two welded together…
It gets weirder.
Some people have made very odd shotgun ammo.
Also, seems like we could realistically put gun parts in the game to convert shotguns to fire bullets from completely different weapon types.
And as for recoil…
All smaller pistols are for little girls.
Looks like those shotgun adapters only work on single shot shotguns.
Obligatory.
