Oh they’re still excellent weapons, they just take a bit longer to reload now.
What bug was it one of the previous nightlies that caused blowguns and slingshots to shoot clouds of radioactive gas? I’d love to have something like that back in, powered by plutonium cells. Call it a “radthrower” or “hazmat rifle” or “contaminant sprayer.”
actual realistic and useful slings.
A pneumatic speargun or just a spear on a pneumatic actuator. For extra stabby stabby goodness.
Do we have shurikens yet?
I know we have caltrops but wildlife tends to completely ignore they exist when I plant them.
Would they be in basements, sporting goods stores, or both?
I’ve found throwing knives as a type of ammunition, but what they were supposed to be used from wasn’t listed, nor did they appear to have any damage when I looked at their stats.
Me either.
PROTIP: It’s that thing on the end of your arm.
I see the battle axe in the “wish menu” in the latest experimental (and it looks awesome, thanks ).
But, I don’t see it on my list of craftable weapons. Is there any way to obtain this weapon “legitimately”?

Fabrication skill of eight, learn the recipe from a ‘The Historic Weaponsmith’ book, produce at a forge.
Since we’re not playing as dorfs here, we don’t automagically know how to make battle axes and must learn it first.
Aha, thanks! Time to ransack some libraries!
Is there a way to make sleeping gas and sleeping darts, that creates knocked out animals that can be picked up and moved around?

PROTIP: It’s that thing on the end of your arm.

… I feel like a moron.
I made this after watching Funsizeninja post a buncha times.
The trap firecrackers can be as useless awesome as the caltrops.
Logic: If we got plate armor and broadswords…
Forgot to mention tabi shoes, but that isn’t a weapon is it!
Speargun? The underwater kind (found in sporting good stores) Like … for shootin’ whales and what-not. Holds 1 round, works like a crossbow but does more damage and is harder to use on land.
Nets. Short range (t)hrowable, stun duration, recovered afterwards (though gets damaged quickly), could be set as a trap with snares to catch things.
You mean like a harpoon gun?
With delicious craftable metal harpoons.
Oops I just looked this up on wikipedia, seems that harpoons are more like the heavy turret version of spear guns.
KK this will be legit when we get scuba-diving gear, snorkel gear, or just plain have fish gills!
Also, yes I love your net idea, and I raise it a cage system!
Throw a net at chicken.
Carry stunned chicken to cage.
???
Eggs profit.
Or we can just have those heavy stun nets. Should only work when thrown on non-gigantic creatures right?
I feel so praised.
ARES FMG. An SMG you can fold up into a nice handy dandy case.
Gotta save volume.
ARES FMG. An SMG you can fold up into a nice handy dandy case.
Gotta save volume.
I think that the Magpul FMG-9 would be a better option for the time setting of Cata; the ARES FMG was designed in 1984, and was rather boxy and appears awkward to hold, not to mention having only two prototypes.
The FMG-9, however, appears to be more ergonomic, was designed and unveiled in 2008 (okay, so it might be a little anachronistic), and can still be folded up into a smaller volume. It also uses a larger magazine than the ARES FMG, with 32-33 rounds in the Magpul weapon as opposed to 20 in the ARES gun.
