Are you serious?
Yea, I don’t know if I’ll get around to it any time soon (just got my PS4 and FO4, so definitely not soon), but this has crossed my mind and I think it’d be a nice thing to do. Frankly with our tile-based map system, we’d potentially be able to just let you input a latitude/longitude or whatever else google maps accepts, and start you at that location, and pull down and convert google map data as you move around like a navigation map does. Also more likely we’d be using one of the free map systems instead of google maps, we might not fall within their terms of service.
Crawling zombies only knaw your legs and make you fall over as soon as they land a hit, stunning you.
Some zombies that you’ve killed will still appear to be dead after reviving, and will grab you bite you if you walk over them without checking if they’re alive or not. This kicks you over, stuns you and gives you a bite wound.
The only bad part of these is the automatic successes.
you start in a two wheeled battery-powered wheelchair. +10% speed on road, -30% on grass etc.
your upper body is tougher and stronger than usual.
if your chair dies or you climb out of it to crawl up/down stairs, you can crawl at slightly faster than crawling zombie speed.
that’s your game, until you find bionic legs CBM
That’s not a bad idea at all, play as a paraplegic as an extreme challenge mode.
See, I think it’d be funnier if crawling zombies just bit your leg and hung onto it, slowing your movement speed. You need to pick them off manually using any tool with the pry function, or you’re just gonna accrue zombie cling-ons and grind your movement speed to a halt.
Random drone strikes. Automated and abandoned military drones drop a missile on a rare occasion in the middle of grouped zombies. A nearby automated military installation will be the likely base for those drones, and disabling the drone maintenance there will stop the strikes… assuming anyone would want to do such a thing. Extra weight will be put on the chance that the drones erroneously bomb the refugee center at one point or another, injuring or killing important NPCs.
Radio broadcasts in foreign languages. Use any already translated relevant texts from the game and randomly choose among them to display on the message log whenever the player messes with radio devices. Breaking the barriers between translations.
Mercenary compounds, with well-armed and well-trained troops, hostile to anything that moves. These guys sometimes go on supply raids in towns. Should the player stalk the compound from afar long enough, he/she would witness an armed vehicle leaving, at which point it could be intercepted or followed around from a distance. The usual scripted mission for these guys would be to find supplies, so they would plan a route with predetermined stops, using explosives to clear the streets of wrecks when necessary.
Zombies completely buried under rubble. Sometimes a zombie would be buried under rubble, and the player could wittingly or unwittingly uncover the zombie when clearning the rubble.
Quotes from this forum could be used in the game.
Should the game be played in Lt. Dan mode, any ice cream he comes across will just infuriate him. The ice cream will not be consumed but simply smeared immediately on the ground upon contact. The game mode will also include an NPC named F. Gump, whom Dan will assault upon sight, unarmed. The fight will last until either Gump dies or Dan loses 50% hit points. Should Gump die, Dan’s morale will plummet.
Two unique and rarely seen items: A watch and a hammer. Both have a tiny engraving on them. On the watch it says “Can’t touch” and the hammer “this”.
Introduce devices by Apple. Come up with reasonable prices for them… then triple them and put the items in the game.
Lawyer services as building locations. These locations would include copies of actual case files from public court events, preferrably including only insane court decisions from all over the world.
The player should be able to distract swimmer zombies with cash cards and items tagged as ‘fancy’.
Holy shit.
I didn’t know how much I wanted this in-game until you suggested it. This is genius! I could put my real-life language knowledge (which is very limited, but still) to use and it would hopefully actually help me survive in Cataclysm! :DD
Man, what’s with all the good ideas in this thread lately…Where have the gojira radioactive fire breath mutation suggestions gone? Or how about a beholder mutation line, where you end up a giant floating eye with the old style ‘wreck the world’ eye beams? But no armor or weapons allowed. No eating either…you just float around wrecking shit.
By the way, how do swimmer zombies store their cash cards?
They always seem to drop those on death.
You don’t want to know. o3o
You know exactly how.
For a related bad idea: Ability to store things up your butt for some extra storage at the cost of pain and potentially getting stuck and persuading a NPC with some first aid skill to remove it.
New mutation: really bad breath. Survivor has a chance of exhaling noxious gas. Morale loss from being in contact with the bad breath cloud, cloud can obscure vision like smoke, and further mutations make chances of exhaling gas more frequent.
Next step: fire breath. Your stomach produces flammable gas and you are able to light it on fire via a spark that gets ignited when your tongue is clicked in a certain way. You can start fires with your breath and burn items, but can’t produce a cloud big enough to burn larger mobs. Perhaps the ability to burn enemies could be the next step in the mutation.
There should be more movement modes. Run, walk, crouch, crawl, hand-stand, zombie-lurch, moon-walk, chicken dance, lifting your body with your arms then pushing your arms froward from your legs like a caterpillar, putting your arms and legs in the air and waddling forwards by rocking from cheek to cheek, Becoming one with the universe and allowing motions of the world to take it away from you as you remain stationary, oral jet propulsion, other forms of biological jet propulsion…
