well, NOW I’m searching for a test subject.
Whoa, I’d love to see what kind of horrific monster comes from drinking that whole thing.
It’d be some Resident Evil shit.
… should we ask how you managed to scrape together that much Mutie?
I feel like we are looking at the end of the world in that screenshot
I just lost a relatively promising, yet very new character all too early IMO, to bleeding. I used 6 bandages and it didn’t help… The shitton of pain every turn FROM bleeding didn’t help, either…
Did you hit 7 to Stop Bleeding or just keep applying them to the damaged part? I found out the hard way that latter doesn’t work.
I’ve tried to play this game about twenty times and I’ve never made it past the first day. It seems that if I go to hide in the woods some creature kills me, if I try to get supplies in town a horde of zombies kill me. Never found enough stuff to do anything and space is always a problem for me. Also I’m fairly sure that wearing a backpack makes my melee crap because I never hit anything with a backpack on. All in all I really enjoy the game but wish I could last long enough to do anything.
My absolute record was making it to 6PM, I found a gun store and held out in there until I eventually ran out of ammo and got swamped.
The game even told me that I should stop playing in full caps once, presumably I’m just terrible at it :(.
Schizophrenia is a !FUN! trait to take.
The Encumbrance section of the '@'Character screen is a critical little section to pay attention to before a fight.
There’s no point to standing your ground in the early game.
Guns are never a good idea in standing your ground unless you’ve got a metric shitton of ammo.
PaultheNerd: goals for the start of the map-- look at the overmap and look for sporting goods stores and military surplus stores that are nowhere near a megastore (since they have zombies from the start). See if you can get them looted (military surplus first for backpacks x2 and general supplies) before 9:30am. If you can get those done and can get in and out of either a gun shop or a library, or a hardware store even, before 9:30 try to do so and then book it back to your evac shelter. If you can pick up some starter books to pass your time in the day then you’ll be set until 8pm when the sun sets That will get you most of the way through the first day. I’d suggest picking up the Night Vision trait so you can easily raid at night also. I was horrible at this game at first and now I can last a full 2-3 days if I’m careful
Edit:
Also, Shotguns are good when cornered, and only when cornered and can pop an adderol or some other speed boosting drug so you can boogie immediately after. Guns only become useful for general use when you can get a silencer attached to it. I think the silencer will just reduce the noise level enough so you don’t get spam spawned by zombies, and should probably still attract any roaming zombies to you so you’ll probably still want to boogie soon after.
Yea standing your ground against a horde with a gun is generally a bad idea. Gunfire will often bring in more zombies, especially a shotgun. Good god shotguns, they are like setting off a set of professional grade fireworks that spell out “Delicious brains here!” in the sky.
Bigger guns make more noise too. If you need to start firing without a silencer try to use some smaller guns unless you are shooting at a bear or a hulk or something. A small little .22 handgun makes much less noise, and can still do some decent damage with skill.
If u really want to go guns from the start - then you absolutely have to get hacksaw (from hardware store), “Under the hood” (from hw store or library) and any sort of knife. Then back at the shelter u can smash some lockers to get a pipe, slice some clothing into rags and after reading ur mechanics up to 1, craft yourself a silencer. Without it firing anything bigger than .22 in a city - should and will get u in big trouble.
I, personally, prefer an slow and nice archery start. Just spend 2 points on survival and archery when crating your character, then raid a hw store before 9:30. You need 2x 3" strings and a knife, combat one, preferably. Those are common at mil. surplus stores. If u manage to pull it before 9:30 - get outa fcking city asap, and find yourself a quiet place with water and some wildlife nearby. Craft shitload of arrows and spend some days to become rambo. Then u can pay those Z’s a visit, and have some tasty payback! As bows are silent - u can do it at daytime to, just be careful to always have retreat route and arrows. In my current game i raided megastore at day 2. Now there’s big morgue, nice and silent.
It depends on your spawn. Important places are:
Parking lots (for car or motocycle, you want a car ideally)
Sporting goods stores (backpack + fryingpan + hotplate +combat knife)
Military surplus for the same + food/water helmet
Gun stores for protection, you want a Marlin rifle, it 3 shots a zombie and is quite.
Then by then I have stumbled across scientists and I find a lab and explore to get some mutations. I’ve learned you want good computer skills before you spend too much time raiding labs so you can loot implants.
I need a towel.
… Oh… my… god! This is awesome, wonderful, cool, beautiful, and these words don’t even do it enough justice! When will you guys release it for Windows?
YEEEEES! This is EPIC! When it’s gonna be merged into main?
Today-ish. Among the improvements are more distributed towns, farms, stability, and multi-vehicle collision dynamics.
I gave this game another go and managed to make it to 8PM before getting killed by a horde of everything. Getting better! I then noticed strange things going on and when I started a new game the evac shelter was right in the middle of a river. As I moved around the map changed on the fly and something had clearly gone wrong. Eventually got killed by flying bees and when I died the game froze. New save required!
Now if only I could figure out how to get the screen looking like that in the vm virtualbox tinycore version… anything above 18x18 goes offscreen.
Just preformed SCIENCE:bangbang: with an oven. It seems they do not contain fires. At lease not fires that use a round of ammunition as fuel.
Oh well, I’m sure no-one will miss that particular city block.
