Vehicle Additions Pack (Updated December 8)

No idea if this is practical…

‘Satellite uplink’ part. (built with Electronics and a lot of Computer). This connects you to an old CIA satellite, giving a low-res aerial image of the area around you. What this does in practical terms is multiply your map view distance (like binoculars but better) when you’re on the same tile as the installed uplink.

(I also want a nuke railgun so I can build a proper Metal Gear. Like the slingshot cannon (same ammo list) but much harder to build and with a ludicrous range)

Or perhaps a mountable rail gun (of any of the available) as well as perhaps automatic heavy machinegun turrets that use the hmgs in their recipes instead of the m249.

Vortex items.

“Inside this innocuous tank contains (etc.)”

Awkward phrasing. Intentional?

Both of those are in. In fact, I’ve got them mounted on the Tiger’s Den.

I love this idea

Maybe you need to build a satalite dish and other parts and as you say stand on the platform and it reveals the map but in mega detail maybe even shows monsters etc?

binoculars help with spoting hordes so a satelite uplink what work like binoculars but better will show hordes better

Turrets seem to be a little broken - when I go to install one it gives me an error message and says that the turret needs an undefined ingredient to mount it.

Can you give me more specific info? Are you using the latest experimental? What turret(s) is this happening with?

I’m afraid satellite uplinks are beyond my capabilities.

Also, turrets with range above 75 tend to cause crashes. A scorpion with a wooden bolt has a range of 60; that reaches the vision limit, so there isn’t much reason to go further than that,

Sorry, wasn’t able to get more specific info at the time. I’m using the latest experimental on a fresh install. I also tested this both with and without the mod, and it worked fine in vanilla.

Here’s the first error that appears when I select the turret I want to install.

Then the turret name changes to this.

The mounted .22 dual turret, mounted .45 dual turret, mounted 9mm dual turret, dual nail turret, mounted .22 quad turret, mounted .45 quad turret, mounted 9mm quad turret, quad nail turret, mounted MG, mounted MG turret, mounted energy turret, and mounted laser are affected; I seem to remember that all of them were affected in a previous version, though.

Issue trying to use the mounted mk19 it says that I can’t use it due to the turret not being on.
Edit: I did a temp fix by removing the manual flag which makes it behave normally.

For packetmantis

The blaze_parts file is defunct, looks like that wasn't properly removed after the commit. Deleting that file should get rid of the errors.

The file is under cataclysm/data/mods/blazemod

Deleting the file fixed this problem for me.

Anyone know of an easy way to make a tileset for mods? I want to make some tiles for this one cause I kinda can’t stand the symbol for the tank tread with the tileset I’m using.

Are there any plans to update and PR this mod to fix some turret issues?

https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/issues/12340

I really wish crafting these turrets took fewer steps. Like why do these turret frames exist? Why isn’t that stuff part of the turret?

Recent experimental (3170).
Delete included version of blazemod.
Replace with version from OP of this thread.
Debug errors on world creation, amounting to it not wanting to have turret frames on default vehicles like armored cars and such.

Hmm. Moar bugs ensue, then.

He told me it’s just a matter to rem, oving one no-longer-needed file from the experimental version’s folder for the mod. Should we get some PRing that in Blaze’s stead, or keep bugging him to do it?

While it’s the best if it’s the contributor doing the PRing, “proxy” PRs with author’s approval are fine.

Just make sure that it works before PRing it.

I will possibly do such a PR if Blaze gives said permission, assuming no one else does so beforehand. Already semi-busy working on the MASSIVE updates to MShock 24 Modded tileset I’ll have to put out eventually.

That’s why I deleted the mod entirely and replaced it with the version from the OP of this thread. Error persists.

Ah, so Blaze was wrong there? Shit. ;w;
