I’m new, I’m from Spain, I don’t mind playing in English but I see that there is no Spanish translation. Is anyone here working on it? Is he/she willing to split the work with me? I don’t mind and I can do it in my spare time (I’ll be on holidays next month). If no one is working on it I can start it. No problem.

John Candlebury and Efimerro (on the IRC; I think I misspelled xyr name, apologies) are both native speakers. I don’t know whether they’ve the time/energy to help translate, but probably won’t hurt to ask.
I guess there is no Spanish translation. But you can start it on https://www.transifex.com/organization/cataclysm-dda-translators/dashboard/cataclysm-dda
There is a spanish translation .po file available on launchpad, you can start translating directly on launchpad or download the .po file and use poedit or similar. (https://translations.launchpad.net/cdda/trunk/+pots/cataclysm-dda/es/+translate)
Thanks for the info guys. I guess i will try to work directly in the launchpad web, it seems to be the best way to me at this moment.
One question, can i use accents or will it create problems in the game ? Can i use the ‘eñe’ (ñ) ? Because it’s used in a lot of words.
I have been using é and è in french without issue but others simply don’t show. You’ll have to see by yourself for the “spanish hat” (~)
Suerte y animo! Translation is quite long but you will really enjoy playing the game in castellano I think. I will even check some of your translations for difficult words, it could help me for the french version.

Good to know. I’ll test it when there’s a good chunk done. I’ve been enjoying the game so much that I want other people to have the same fun I’m having with it. 
Also, in the few that I have had doubts so far I’ve been looking into google for info or even asking people that may know in that subject. So far no problems.
I’ll be working on this whenever I can, but it would be nice that more people join the spanish team.

Personalmente, preferiría usar tu ya que es más amistoso y no veo la necesidad de ser formal y usar usted.
Algo que también se me ocurre es que debemos estandarizar la traducción de “Never Mind”; es “Olvídalo” apropiado?

Yo también veo más apropiada la manera informal. Y “never mind” podría ser “olvídalo” como dices o también “no importa”. Para mi cualquiera de las dos es aceptable. Habrá casos como ese en los que las expresiones traducidas se puedan decir de varias maneras.

Le dije a KA101 que os ayudaría, pero como no os he visto en el IRC me he tenido que hacer cuenta aquí. Ok.
Os he pillado un puñado de gazapos de traductor novato que no pasarían ni el control más básico. A mi me da igual, que nunca voy a usar la traducción, pero si queréis hacerlo bien, más cuidado con la gramática y los “false friends”.
Si vamos a hacerlo en el launchpad ese, marcad la casilla de revisión para que sea más fácil controlar las cosas nuevas.
Yo tengo algo de experiencia traduciendo cosas y os puedo decir en dónde os estáis equivocando, pero cuanto más crezca la lista de traducciones, más difícil va a ser buscar los errores. Es mejor pillarlos en cuanto entran y para eso hace falta que esté todo lo nuevo marcado para revisar.
Yo os ayudo lo que haga falta, pero si tengo que traducir y además revisar lo que traducís vosotros va a ser muy jodido. XD

Aunque, la mayoría de las veces no necesitaríamos escribir “Tú” o “usted”. Simplemente “Has matado a el zombie” creo que es suficiente.
Ehh, diciendo la verdad, no creo que pueda ayudar, porque soy vago, pero puedo contribuir a las correcciones y demás! También podría hacer una versión mas latina de el lenguaje español (O sea, Uruguayo/Argentino/etc.)
Si hubiera problemas con la codificación de caracters, eso se puede arreglar luego con un script en última instancia. De todas formas, ya he visto en las descripciones de ciertos ataques la palabra puño, tal cual, con ñ. Y funciona perfectamente en las últimas versiones, así que no hay motivo ninguno para prescindir de ninguna de las características de nuestro exquisito lenguaje. XD

Es mucho mejor que e otro de Launchpad. Tiene muchos más filtros de búsqueda y es más cómodo para editar los textos.

As i can see, you are begin translating on transifex.com. That’s make me happy.
I have site with compiled translations from transifex.com. All updates are made automatically. Now it’s used only for Russian. It contain three github branch’s: master stable old. Each branch has three download variants: zip-archive(Windows), tar-archive(Linux, OSX), RAW .mo (All OS).

I can add Spanish section to site easily.
Do you need it?

Thanks, cat, but I don’t think we will need that yet? I’m not sure what that’s used for, but we can already download the translation files from the other site, right?
