"Mshock's" tileset (v0.36)

Here you go.
pastaextruder, broken_riotbot, broken_secubot, mon_turret_searchlight, dump_pouch, postman_hat, postman_shorts, postman_shirt

I read that and thought, “Nah, I’ll just make it look like the gun turrets.” Maybe there are three bulbs in one reflector dish. Oh, but that is a lovely spot light Arex.

Ok, triple searchlight:

Nice.

Is there a list of missing tiles (with no images)?

You can generate one with Tileset Studio.

[quote=“AK-74”]I found problem of latest experimetal build.
when you start out SWAT Officer. and player killing the zombies with SMGs and pistols. the game can’t raise gun skills.

well. if choose other profession. run just fine. except shooting colt m1911. if player shoot the zombies with colt m1911. game can’t raise pistol skill.[/quote]

  1. As a bug question, that needed to go in the Garage. I didn’t move it because of 2.

  2. Increased firearm-skill is a function of your weapon’s accuracy. Firearms & ammo with higher dispersion get in the way of your being able to tell if you’re hitting where you’re aiming, so you can’t tell if what you’re doing is helping your shooting. Thus you cant learn to shoot effectively.

This isn’t a bug.

There is a bug in your latest version v0.37, the tile_config.json in the MShock24Tileset is the same as the MShock32Tileset one

My bad. Thanks.

More tiles. I feel like I’m growing as a pixelsmith because of my work on this. When I began I thought clothing would be too hard for me, but I think I’m doing rather well. I’m also learning a lot about guns. There are so many guns and gun paraphernalia. Sometimes I wonder if Cataclysm is primarily a game about zombies or a game about guns.

row1: knife_hunting, warhammer, paint_brush, f_indoor_plant_y, egg_bird, egg_reptile, boiled_egg
row2: maid_dress, dance_shoes, swim_fins, boots_western, knee_high_boots

I’d like to point out that “Fungal Fighters” aren’t fungus, they fight fungus. It’s kinda disconcerting to see mushrooms among triffids. I kept thinking they would start fighting at any time until I actually read the description.

Interesting, thanks for noticing.

Small set this time, but I wanted to get out my proposal for a Fungal Fighter. I gave it 2 broad branches for digging and 2 thin branches for flinging thorns. I’m not quite happy with it, but I’m not sure how to improve it. Anyone have a suggestion? Here’s the in game description…

A stout woody plant that can dig through the ground and flick spines from its branches. The thorns carry a fungicidal compound with paralytic effects.

In general, triffids–the fungal fighter is a specialized anti-Mycus variant thereof–are more or less a walking flower, kinda like “a tulip with stubby leg-knobs”* in configuration, so the flingers might be longer and the body less bulky in proportion. Might also make it all a more/less uniform color, rather than the abrupt green on the flinger-branches. That make me think they look tacked-on rather than part of the plant. :-/

That said, you’ve done pretty well with that description. Thanks for your time and effort.

*Some other details in the book, like tendrils and some sticks they rattled for communication. Not immediately necessary here.

Second attempt at a Fungal Fighter. I’ve included my original attempt and the existing Triffids from the tileset for comparison. The new fungal fighter is third from the left.

This one is more like the other flowers and less like a mole with antlers. :stuck_out_tongue: The petals are folded back to accommodate pushing through the ground. A tangle of woody roots do that pushing. Still present are flexible green branches for flicking thorns.

Looks workable, though you know my thoughts on actively emulating Waldo. shrug

This was a hard place to be diverse, the last piece in a series. I haven’t disregarded your wishes to depart from Waldo, but it’s hard to be cohesive without imitating. I’m still trying to figure it out. The alternative is to replace his work all together, but that’s a lot of work. Also, I really love his monsters. I don’t know that I could top them.

I do still plan to take a crack at ethnic/mutant playable characters. We’ll see how that goes before I consider redoing the monsters.

Yeah, hence the “workable”. I’m OK with using your new fungal fighter.

As a new player (but longtime DF and roguelike player), i’d just like to say that this is by far my favorite tileset of all that i’ve seen so far. Thanks for compiling it, even if it is cobbled together from works by other authors.
If they are ok by it or not, personally i’m just happy this tileset exists. It is the best combination which fits thematically together.
Not too bright. Not too dark. Great textures all around. Keep it up.

[quote=“AK-74”]I want to make tileset. i wanna make mutated player tile(especially Wolf). but i don’t know how make it. so How can I make it?
p.s How can I upload image? when click insert image just comes .[/quote]

I don’t see an image link there between your img tags. You’ll need to use an image hosting site or otherwise get it on the web (folks seem to like imgur; I’ve never tried it, but dropbox doesn’t like img linking) then throw the address between those inks.

I like it.
