I don’t recall the handling of that being part of any of the bounties. It’s a good question, though. In theory it’s possible to have a DF-like cavein system, where if all support on the lower z-level is lost, the whole thing just shifts one z-level down.
Pretty cool! Thanks for taking your time to tackle the bounty issue. Even if it’s not clearly visible to the everage player having a groundwork for z-level will make it easier for people to build up from there.
That’d be awesome. With this, and jackhammers, and remote detonated bombs, we could make awesome traps.
And also, dropping a mininuke into a building would become 5x hella cool.
You sir are to be seriously followed. … and even though you went a long way into this game’s dev efforts, you’re still on top of the most throbbing of issues. Best of luck.
Yeah, cave-ins are desirable. I’m not sure whether they’re explicitly part of the bounty reqs; we have kicked it around.
KA101 checks
Core issue 4 checks for unsupported gear/critters/vehicles/furniture. It does not expressly state “terrain” but I’m willing to consider that something GlyphGryph missed, and I’ve posted to that effect.
Update: and GlyphGryph apparently meant to leave it out, since terrain’s a lot more work. OK, don’t worry about it for now, CIB.
Don’t be discouraged, collapsing buildings is definitely something we want, and it’s something that can be added on later. We put a lot of thought into what we need to have z-levels working. Everything you add that isn’t strictly necessary increases the chance of failure.
