Change auto-interrupt settings

My character has nicotine dependence and often suffers withdrawals. Whenever I pull something, consume something, pulp a corpse and lots of other mundane actions I get interrupted and reminded of my nicotine withdrawal. It’s completely killing the flow of the game. Is there a way to get rid of these constant inane interruptions? I’m seriously considering curing addictions with debug and swearing off drugs completely.

There are two ways:

  1. Suffer through it. In the past I’ve played characters with multiple severe addictions and started the game by going cold turkey. This has cause the character to be essentially immobilized for 3 weeks to a month before the symptoms wear off.
  2. Give up and give in to the cravings. I don’t know if it’s possible to wean off of the dependency little by little, so there’s a risk you’ll stay hooked forever (or until you’re prepared to suffer for a month straight).

Things have changed a little since my characters were like that, but I don’t think addictions have changed fundamentally. At the time the point system was the main character creation tool, and I min/maxed by taking a lot of negative points for stuff that could be handled (and some that could be lived with) that could then spend these points on stats. A crucial selection there was morbid obesity, which meant the period through hell could be spent without eating anything except to satisfy vitamin needs (so limited amounts of food looting was needed). In addition to the withdrawals, the characters also got cold and/or flu due to the horrendously tanked health from the morbid obesity, and it took a long time before the health trend even started to leave absolute bottom. My character did NOT have fun… but they did come out of it alive and healthy.
