Care. Thread necromancy isn’t socializing, it’s antisocial and disrespectful.
1: You may be attempting to converse with users who no longer frequent the forum. Given that the conversation ended for some reason, you’re certainly attempting to converse with users who no longer want to converse about the subject in question.
2: You may be injecting bad information into the community by making it look like issues brought up months or years ago are still current. It doesn’t matter if the issue is still current or not. You force other users to either ignore you completely, or fact-check the issue to see if it still relevant, if they don’t want to end up part of the problem.
3: Opinions change. By making outdated threads look current, you may be misrepresenting the current opinions of the users in question. Again, you force others to ignore you or fact-check.
4: Necromancy injects old finished discussions into the front page, which makes people interested in interacting with current, active discussions - particularly those containing users whose posts they find interesting - have to sort through clutter. This makes thread necromancy equivalent to spam.
If you have a new question or a new idea inspired by an old thread, it’s fine post a new thread linking to the old thread.
Also, use some fucking punctuation and spellcheck, for the love of God.
