Day 6, throwing skill 6. Some people shoot arrows. Me? I carry rocks. And a good machete.
Got that dumbass in the shelter with me killed by some child zombies on the first day. Don’t regret it in the slightest. Regret smashing the kids’ heads in more.
Haven’t found a single vehicle. Primary food source is squirrel and rabbit, with some wolf and cougar mixed in. Made myself plenty of jerky. Primary drink is boiled toilet water. Been reading a lot, driving, barter, speech. Been practicing my sewing, can you believe that? End of the world, and I’m out here doing stitching because I need to keep my clothes together. Need to find myself some books on traps and electronics, and practice with my BB gun some more. Maybe I’ll find a good chem textbook if I get lucky. I know how to make meth and crack, but do you think I’m going to risk getting addicted out here? Don’t even want to drink booze or use any painkiller stronger than aspirin. Got an addictive personality and a weak stomach, and I’m a lightweight anyway. Can’t risk it.
Looted a science lab the other day. Place was loaded with clean water, should probably go back for some more. Some turrets in there, but I closed the door on all of them before they started shooting. Except one, got careless, but I patched up my arm good.
Got some mutagen and purifier, mutated myself. Lost my fleet-footedness, but picked up some insect wings, which are a bit better. Wish I had both. I’ve also got a bit of night vision and strength. Not sure if I’ll drink more mutagen even if I find some. I’m good like this. Don’t want to have to reach for the purifier. Got sick with the flu, but ate some royal jelly to clear it up. Note to self, keep that fucking filter mask on.
Current long-term worries are fuel for cooking and clean water. Hotplates starting to run out of batteries. Need to find an axe somewhere to make more firewood, but get chased out every time I get near the city center. Already disassembled everything in the evac shelter, my home, and boarded up all the entrances except one. Considering doing runs on the dressers and beds in town for their wood. Hit and run carpentry. Wish I knew how to take an oven or a refrigerator apart.
Some call this boredom.
I call it staying alive.
