What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Day 6, throwing skill 6. Some people shoot arrows. Me? I carry rocks. And a good machete.

Got that dumbass in the shelter with me killed by some child zombies on the first day. Don’t regret it in the slightest. Regret smashing the kids’ heads in more.

Haven’t found a single vehicle. Primary food source is squirrel and rabbit, with some wolf and cougar mixed in. Made myself plenty of jerky. Primary drink is boiled toilet water. Been reading a lot, driving, barter, speech. Been practicing my sewing, can you believe that? End of the world, and I’m out here doing stitching because I need to keep my clothes together. Need to find myself some books on traps and electronics, and practice with my BB gun some more. Maybe I’ll find a good chem textbook if I get lucky. I know how to make meth and crack, but do you think I’m going to risk getting addicted out here? Don’t even want to drink booze or use any painkiller stronger than aspirin. Got an addictive personality and a weak stomach, and I’m a lightweight anyway. Can’t risk it.

Looted a science lab the other day. Place was loaded with clean water, should probably go back for some more. Some turrets in there, but I closed the door on all of them before they started shooting. Except one, got careless, but I patched up my arm good.

Got some mutagen and purifier, mutated myself. Lost my fleet-footedness, but picked up some insect wings, which are a bit better. Wish I had both. I’ve also got a bit of night vision and strength. Not sure if I’ll drink more mutagen even if I find some. I’m good like this. Don’t want to have to reach for the purifier. Got sick with the flu, but ate some royal jelly to clear it up. Note to self, keep that fucking filter mask on.

Current long-term worries are fuel for cooking and clean water. Hotplates starting to run out of batteries. Need to find an axe somewhere to make more firewood, but get chased out every time I get near the city center. Already disassembled everything in the evac shelter, my home, and boarded up all the entrances except one. Considering doing runs on the dressers and beds in town for their wood. Hit and run carpentry. Wish I knew how to take an oven or a refrigerator apart.

Some call this boredom.

I call it staying alive.

So I saw Jefmajor’s video on this game and checked it out.
First day: Dude tells me to find antibiotics and the town has no pharmacy
I go to a sporting goods store find a combat knife and some books on how to knife things. By the gas station there are a whole bunch of craters so I head over there and BAM horde of zombies.
I run and manage to lose most of them and kill the rest while hiding in a house. I continue to search some outlying houses when the horde comes back. This time though they are not fucking around I run my ass to the evac shelter and the dude dies to zombies.
I then pelt into the woods and run as fast as I can. I know I lost the horde now, but navigating the forest was hard. I run into a clearing and then ANOTHER horde of zombies, this time they’re fungal, I run my ass away and try to loop back to the evac shelter to loot the dude who died. I run into some random corpses in the middle of nowhere, they didn’t have much though.
Trying to get back to my house it starts getting dark so I turn on my flashlight and set up a tent I had. I fell asleep in the tent (Note: I have heavy sleeper) and WHAM I wake up zombies have torn down my tent and I bolt.
I run away from then as fast as I can. After I lose them I try to fall asleep on the ground, but I kept waking up so I tried to go to the evac shelter again, but suddenly my FOV is going down. Oh shit I don’t have batteries. I try to sleep until it’s morning and head to the evac shelter. There I loot dude and try to head into town again, this time there are a whole bunch of special zombies and I get electrocuted. I run as for some reason I gained the trait Road Runner and am now hiding in a mansion without water and a whole bunch of dining rooms with no kitchens.

you can get antibiotics in bathrooms.

I didn’t find em in the houses I searched
Now currently at a parking lot after looting the Mansion with nothing, but some bandages. I killed a couple of wolves and cougars and skinned them. However the last one got my glasses and I’m nearsighted so I followed a road until I got some where. I found a parking lot with a Beetle in it
Edit: Driving cars is hard. Like I dunno what the fuck is going on cause I’m nearsighted hard. Oh and I’m dehydrated.

I think its rare.
as for glasses, why did you not grab a second pair somewhere?

I don’t think I saw any extras cause I probably woulda grabbed them. Anyways I exited the car sfter looking how to. And a wolf comes out of nowhere blinds me and kills my first character :frowning:

get a new one that wont require glasses.

Yeah I was thinking that it wouldn’t be such a bad negative trait, but…

if it requires consumables or equipment, dont get it.
i normally go lightweight, addictive, HP and truth teller.

Hmm okay, also haha game make the first house I loot have glasses -_-

that sounds about right.

This. If you need to constantly ingest non-renewables or wear damagable equipment, you’re begging for it. This game’s hard enough.

Wool Allergy, Truth Teller, Lightweight, Addictive, Weak Stomach, Glass Jaw, Ugly, 10(11)/10/14/10. I hope I can survive the winter without wool, but if I’m still alive by then I’ll count my blessings. Weak Stomach is actually kind of a blessing in disguise- if you eat something that doesn’t agree with you, throwing up reduces the timer on food poisoning.

All my characters are nearsighted - they’re also all fleet footed and start with Dodge 2, however, so I don’t get hit that often.

My 2nd character died cause of a wolf pack and a horde of zombies

wait, there is snow?!

Going into caves is a baaaaad idea
I got literally swarmed by sewer rats and died
Edit: Started a new character ran outside to town and exploded by mine :frowning:
This game and its RNG

get high perception and look out for #

Got a bunch of lucky mutations. I wasn’t aware you can have so many skin mutations at the same time. Phelloderm, leaves, thorns, sleek scales, horns, whiskers, and full night vision.

Only negatives were deformed, slimy, and heat dependent. I figured slimy would drive me insane, and I was considering chugging a purifier just to try to nuke that, but it ended up being less annoying that I thought, and actually very useful for marking where I’ve already been in the lab while hunting for purifier, so I kept it.

I also came across a pickup truck, a muffler, and a 2.6L engine and managed to get them all mixed together in a happy way giving me a nice safe, quiet, and durable truck with plenty of storage, and all the natural advantages for night raiding.

I might strip it down into my usual low profile trike design, but I’m thinking I may keep the truck more or less intact instead. My trike design is 3 wide and can fit through the smallest spaces, but with the truck I can mow straight through hordes not needing to maneuver around, and with some weight management I think I can get it going almost as fast. Decisions decisions…

i dont think there is a limit to mutations.

there is not, but you can only have one of each category so no double horns or chitin armor and fur…
thus the best vile monster i created and released into severs so far was (iirc):
very radioactive, regenerating fast tentacle monster (both legs and 8 tentacles instead of arms), with claws (one pair on each tentacle i guess?) pointy horns, spike tail and covered in heavy black (white?) fur. it had full night vision, and be albe to see in infrared, had poison AND acid glands, insect wings, was able to see and breathe underwater, was leaving slime trail, but had problems at daytime, like getting burned due to being albino, and very bad sight that came with additional pain while in sunlight. iirc it would only digest flesh, rotten as well, but had very delicate (or rather unstable) digestive system. it was also extremely strong and kinda smart.

to bad, horde of giant frogs and slugs ate it before i had chance to find and install it with adamantium claws, some nutriment filter and digestive extensions to repair evolution shortcomings. sigh.

also, about starting traits:
weak stomach is ok, but if you plan on mutating in the future DONT take it.
if you get it as starting trait, its almost guaranteed that you will end with nausea or vomitous (whose are kinda bad.)
low temperatures aint that bad - if you manage to find CBM:internal climate control.
also perc 10 is more important than str 10.
