Just barely made it out of town alive, meleed a hulk without any stims, fire, windows, bionics, etc. I love broadswords.

I deliberately charged to my death, in part so I could start a new world and in part so I could edit my personal class according to the custom files I’d made for my own copy of Cataclysm. Had a -very- close call with my cathedral dwelling albino troglobyte character. I managed to mutate high night vision, so I can drive at night without having to use a flashlight. Decided to explore a new part of the nearby city. I saw a huge herd (using Walking Dead reference there) of zombies ahead of me. So I decided to speed up, dramatically. About twenty zombies went under my pickup trucks wheels, then it skidded and slammed straight into a wreckage. The engine then failed. I was now surrounded by a -massive- swarm of zombies, at night, in the middle of a lightning storm. I opened the door and blasted away with my pistol. I just couldn’t kill enough of them, so I went last resort. I grabbed my chainsaw off the passenger seat, revved it up, and charged. Somehow I managed to carve a hole through the herd and pop out the other side, and ran like a jackrabbit back home, badly wounded and with multiple bite infections. Lucky for me I had some first aid kits to clean the infections, but that was the closest Cathedral Albino has come so far to dying.

Of all the fucking things to die from…

So I was building my MFB in a hardware store, went outside to burn down another house for rebar when I noticed a zombear. Ran inside, grabbed my nailgun, several thousand nails, some two by four, some tools, and a pipe. Turned it into a nail rifle.

The zombear brings me to deaths’ doorstep but an NPC swoops in at the last second and kills it.

Then a regular bear removed his head while I was stitching myself back up, again.

Killed the regular bear, picked up some (at that point much needed) oxycontin off the dead NPC, took two. (Pain was at 200)

Finished patching myself up, got attacked by a wolf pack. Lost a leg, almost lost the other. badly damaged my head, and blood loss almost killed me. Started patching myself up, pain was at 200 again so I took two more. Dragged my duct-taped together body back into my hardware store, grabbed a steel frame and my welder…

and dropped dead. Painkiller OD.

According to Sogo. I actually “borrowed” the term from Mechwarrior 3, you had three of these hugeass vehicles that followed you around during missions that you could repair and rearm at, they were called “Mobile Field Bases” They were these tracked monstrosities that’d hold your mech and up to two more I think (Assuming they were intact still) as well as assorted gear. You could call them in to repair you in the fight and they’d roll up, deploy the top half of them and it’d start fixing your mech.

From a gameplay standpoint it’s a (sadly necessary) step down from the RMCC. It doesn’t take anywhere near as long to build, not to mention it’s a more reasonable size while still having mostly enough space for all my crap. With the addition of Stow boards it’s gotten even smaller.

You also can’t hear it coming from a couple states over.

Yeah Sogo’s exact words when I started telling him about the MFB were “If that stands for anything other than ‘Mother Fucking Bus’ I’m going to be extremely dissappointed.”

I decided that I would try murdering of zombies with a bow, so I spent an ingame day mass-producing metal arrows… only to find that I could not lift the 600-pound pile of metal arrows at my feet when I was done.

I think I’ll stick to guns.

Archery is actually pretty viable as a long-term strategy. The trick is that metal arrows only have a small chance of disappearing when fired, especially if you kill an enemy on the first shot, so you can walk around with only 10-15 metal arrows, turn on auto-pickup and recover almost all your arrows once the nearest crowd is dead. Just remember not to attract too many hostiles. For backup, you can carry a handgun for worst-case scenarios, drag around a cart full of backup arrows, or just carry a supply of fletchlings and a hammer and hacksaw so you can walk into the nearest shop and replenish your arrows anytime you want.

I was trying to lure a brute across a burning building, went too close and somehow my head melted off or something, since I was spamming the wait command and when it said I died the only thing at red was my head.

Well, my quad bike’s engine spontaneously exploded halfway towards a bunker i was exploring, but then the bunker had 3 mininukes in it…

I got a broadsword and with 5 torso encumbrance and no skill in melee or dodging whatsoever I 1shot Zeds.

My quad bike has now been transformed into a fully steel-plated Micro-RV. Also, the firebrand is a beautiful thing. As soon as I get my swage and die set, I’ll be making something better, though.

Since we’re listing out weapons, I finally found the Swords of the Samurai book. I have my faithful katana again, I named (engraved) it The Purifier.
