What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

My rat thrower game has ended. Apparently zombies don’t die quite as easily from being hit by dead rats… and they’re too heavy to throw dead zombies at living… er… unlving… zombies.

Fungal spires are a little bit disappointing in 0.9, now that the walls don’t instantly regenerate. I just drove right up and killed it with a sword. What am I going to do with my giant stockpile of high explosives now?

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF THE MUTANTS, GOOD LUCK WITH BREAKFAST.

Mutation via radiation I’m assuming?

I think that having too many (maybe as little as one?) mutation from a given list gives you a small chance getting an extra mutation from that list while asleep. Radiation would also do it, if you’re napping in a hazardous waste facility or something.

This poor soul was mauled to death by a bear right outside of the evac shelter as I was returning from an scavenging run. It turns out that this individual loves to read. Drama novels no less as he had a staggering twenty-eight of them on his body.

Ah, you may be right. It just threw me off guard since he had several other books on him. And by several, I mean at least five to six other ones.

A man after my own heart. I like consolidating every book I find into a grand library.

I was in a similar state just a bit ago. After a bear attacked me and then a small pack of coyotes, I managed to drag myself into the evac shelter and close the door, a nice blood trail being left behind me. I had 223 pain and 0 in all attributes and only a tiny fraction of health on my head and torso. Seven medkits later and some rest and he is back to semi working order.

Yeah I managed to escape to a military bunker.

But just as fell asleep to heal, my char froze up and caught influenza.

… Now it’ll be another few days before I can go out and loot the stuff I need.

It’s just a scratch sleep it off and you’ll be fiiine.

I don’t know if my game is bugged or something, but i’ve managed to kill bears, zombears, packs of wolves and coyotes using only a combat knife/machete and with judo as martial art. My character blocks 1/3 of the attacks btw.

My most successful character, so far, made it to the bottom of a Lab. She jumped down a shaft and ended up in a resonance cascade chamber. 283 manhacks and 47 secubots later, she managed to raise her computer skills high enough to finally activate the damn thing. and… nothing, just blindness and a bad case of the shakes. Is there a point to this room? also is there a way out? or am I stuck in there forever since I didn’t use a rope to climb down?

Anyway, I put that character on hold, grabbed 0.9 and starting a brand new one which had been rather successful so far.

Resonance Chambers are, as it stands at the moment and to my knowledge the mystery box with the rock inside on the game show. And yes, because you jumped down a shaft without a rope you’re stuck there, unless you can find some stairs somewhere in the lab that lead back up. But if the first level down you went was the jump, you’re stuck.

After getting away from the game, I Perused the forums and saw lots of cool updates, my previous version being 0.4. I down loaded Romero and made a schitzo cannibal escaped serial killer. I cleared out a small section of town and found a Mac-10 with 30 rounds in the middle of a mine field. I used this to clear up to the nearest gunstore, which had very little in it. Running out ammo I stopped by the local sporting good store and made a nail bat, and am working to clear the rest of this moderately sized city.

Funny thing is, I have been hacking up all the copses of what I kill, not because of the resurrection mechanic, which I only found out about later, but because I figured that’s what a psycho would do.
