What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?
This is why I always use the windows to get in or out of my safe house, you can take a look outside and if it looks bad, switch sides, if every side looks bad you can always use the window to slow them down on their way into your house.
Sometimes I’ll even break my own window because a broken window costs 400 movement points and an open window costs 200, I just pick up a sheet of glass in town somewhere to fix it.
That’s some good advice. I’ll be sure to do that from now on.

I’d just made it through my first night while waiting for the rain to pass so I could light a fire to cook some food. I open the door of the evac shelter to a wolf spider just standing there in the doorway. I’m really not prepared for this fight so I try to run for it in the hope that I can get to another door to close on its face. This turns out to be foolish as it easily tracks me and bites my torso repeatedly. I reach the doors on the other side and make my stand. Hacking wildly with my combat knife, I miss over and over again but somehow manage to kill it before my torso is torn to shreds. I quickly close all the doors and heal myself thanks to some bandages I found on a dead soldier.

I’m now at half health, low on food and I’ve just seen another wolf spider lurking around outside my shelter…
Deep pits and 2-by-4s are my standby. I keep pits beneath every window of where I’m staying, and tend to widen or expand the areas enclosed by them. Most creatures avoid them, but zombears fall in them all day and the only thing that’s saved me on several occasions was the ability to run across a pit and then remove the plank. Freaking moose. Now, ZOMBEARS.

Blocking may be a little bit overpowered. This poor NPC has been trying to hit me for seven hours.

I love how there’s one more “You block with your katana” at the end, like the NPC was going to desperately try just one more time.

Start new game. Bigass empty world, nothing around but a hugeass forest that screams jabberwocks and a school. Decided the school would at least have food and shelter, made a crude sword and began my quest.

One hour later it was clear, hit up the lab, no mutigen sadly but carried on. Went to retrieve the flag from the courtyard.

And suddenly moose.

Game Over.

Canada’s deadliest creature.

Here is something sad.
I find THREE groups of dead troops, have it made, clear out almost all the zombies in the farm and die to a rat that decided to attack when I had no real weapon.

My friend just died recently when he tried to katana the rat to death. Kept missing.

Those little suckers don’t mess around, I guess.

If you’ve ever tried to catch a rat in real life, you’d understand why their dodge skill is so high.
I find the best method is to throw something at them, even if it’s immediately next to you. Depends on your throwing skill naturally, but generally has a good chance of working.

Good to know.

Found an apartment complex in the middle of nowhere. Cleared it out with a crossbow and quarterstaff.
FORTRESS INVASION!

Thank GlyphGryph for that one, used to be creatures below a certain size couldn’t kill you, ever, because they couldn’t hit anything above the legs, which isn’t a fatal wound. So he added an override that allows them to hit any body part if either of your legs is wrecked, under the assumption that you can’t stand. Seems to be working as intended.

Eaten to the point of death by a single rat. That must be some kind of hell…

As for me, my last two characters had unfortunate early run-ins with a zombie hulk. That’s a quick death, at least.

Sumertime, and the dyin’ is easy! I have survived 91 days of the apocalypse. Time to break out the bathing suit!

Speaking of which, when do we get tentacled eldritch horrors of the depths, zombie pike, zombeels, etc? It’s the apocalypse! Swimming should be FUN

Just lost day 30 char due to lack of not being on fire. I am sad.

Uh oh. Better snort everything in my inventory and start swingin.

Edit: Oops, that’s kinda big. I’ll just link it.

Cleared out a hotel thinking it was a hospital due to similar “H” map symbols. I wondered what the hell are sewer snakes doing downstairs, and why all the rooms are actually “ROOMS”.

Started a new game, found a group of dead gangsters, went to grab a katana off of one of them when I noticed zeds moving in. Thought I’d picked up the Katana, noticed I was wielding one of the dead gangsters, unfortunately there was no time to correct my mistake.

I killed four zombies with a corpse… I have to do this more often.

Riding my deathbike to town to pick up some spare parts. A rainstorm starts up, and I’m going about a hundred and fifty offroad. I’m coming around a curve, skidding out, when I see an NPC fighting a cougar and obviously getting the worse end of it. Only one thing to do. I drag the bike out of the skid, pull out my 8x40mm Revolver of Compensation +5, and aim my bike as best I can…

Luke Williams loses some blood.
You regain controll of the Deathbike.
The Cougar hits Luke Williams’s torso.
The Cougar leaps!
Luke Williams wields a lighter.
Luke Williams wields a glass plate.
Luke Williams wields a metal arrow shaft.
Blam!
Critical! You hit the cougar for 174 damage.
The cougar dies!

I skid past him 2 squares away, splattering him with mud as I continue on my way.

Just doing my job, citizen.
