I did notice the Western and Samurai novels share the same description currently.

I’d just made it through my first night while waiting for the rain to pass so I could light a fire to cook some food. I open the door of the evac shelter to a wolf spider just standing there in the doorway. I’m really not prepared for this fight so I try to run for it in the hope that I can get to another door to close on its face. This turns out to be foolish as it easily tracks me and bites my torso repeatedly. I reach the doors on the other side and make my stand. Hacking wildly with my combat knife, I miss over and over again but somehow manage to kill it before my torso is torn to shreds. I quickly close all the doors and heal myself thanks to some bandages I found on a dead soldier.

I’m now at half health, low on food and I’ve just seen another wolf spider lurking around outside my shelter…

This is why I always use the windows to get in or out of my safe house, you can take a look outside and if it looks bad, switch sides, if every side looks bad you can always use the window to slow them down on their way into your house.
Sometimes I’ll even break my own window because a broken window costs 400 movement points and an open window costs 200, I just pick up a sheet of glass in town somewhere to fix it.

Decided to start a new world with a relatively recent experimental.

I spawned and naturally went into the basement, I was promptly set upon by a skeleton and a shrieker zombie, after running upstairs and breaking a bench, I beat them to death with a two by four and stole a rucksack and a flashlight off of them.

Just updated to the latest experimental. Now I have no idea what anything is. Half the colors and symbols have changed on me. I do like the basement redesign for the shelters; everything else will just take some getting used to.

It was a normal enough day… for the apocalypse. There was a zombie at the window, so I lined up in the right spot and just started beating on it as it broke the glass. Oh, it has friends. No big deal, it’s a chokepoint. I’ll just-

I ended up with roughly 30 normal zombie corpses on the floor, and there was still no end in sight when I finally fell. This was a literal case of death by cuts, and by the end, I was in so much pain that I simply couldn’t heal fast enough to survive.
