What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Yeah, game can get boring if you don’t limit yourself, especially in the late game. In general, I avoid most of the powerful bionics to keep the game fun. Since my main run also uses StatsThroughSkills, turning my survivor into a pretty great 14-13-13-14 stat survivor, I also avoid any mutation that’ll give her stat buffs.

I’ll go nuts with guns, though.

Found a pretty goofy exploit. Most definitely a bug; made a thread on the bugs section about it.

So, you can use a vacutainer to draw blood from a corpse. For most part, the blood is considered human flesh, even mi-gos. However, undead and mi-go blood is also poisonous. That’s not the goofy part.

You can draw an infinite amount of blood. Rather tedious, but possible. You can also draw blood from your survivor, and can do so an infinite number of times as well, with no real drawback.

Blood has five nutrition and five quench, and -50 enjoyability. However, here’s the kicker: with cannibal, spiritual, and optimist (and maybe gourmand), you get more morale than you lose, so you end up with an infinite source of food and water, providing enjoyment to your character to boot.

It’s unhealthy, however. The temporary health stat takes a hit, but if you’ve got the leukocyte breeder bionic it’s not a problem at all.

I think thats from a mod isn’t it?

Nope. Tested in on my debug world which has no mods. You can do the same thing - though you definitely need gourmand as well to get more morale buffs than debuffs. Disliking the blood lasts longer than enjoying human flesh, though. And it’s definitely unhealthy, though a survivor with leukocyte breeder will probably have nothing to worry about.

Seems like a fairly specific case but it will probably get nerfed about a bit. Possibly on the “infinite” side.

Maybe a series of [tag]s on corpses that keeps track of how many times they have been used. The default body having no additional tags

True enough. Perhaps using the vacutainer causing some pain to the survivor when they get their own blood, or limit the amount of uses to self for a set amount of time.

Anyway, been trying out unarmed on my survivor again. Been rather hesitant since punching corrosive zombies damages the arm, as the survivor wetsuit doesn’t provide enough acid protection since it doesn’t cover the hands. Was hesitant to use the survivor wetsuit gloves since it’s pretty encumbering, when I realized a simpler solution: medical gloves. One encumbrance, close to skin, and with the wetsuit it provides enough acid protection to punch corrosives safely.

Eskrima, while not an unarmed style, is compatible with the punch dagger. Puno strikes hit up to 140, which is quite nice due to the speed of the dagger and all that. 'course, pondering if that’s really needed since the l-stick is fast and deals great damage on the puno strikes.

Man, the minimap is so convenient. When it was introduced I didn’t like it since it blocked out a large chunk of the messages bar, but now it’s really super convenient. Getting a decent idea on how many enemies are on the screen without resorting to the view screen is one. Another is spotting natural artifacts when driving; usually don’t zoom out since driving with a zoomed out screen seems to slow the game down, and having the minimap helps spot those rock formations where the artifacts are is super helpful.

And currently, gathering poppy buds to make a bunch of poppy painkillers for medical mutagen making which I’ll probably not use but want to hoard. The poppy plants show up as red dots on the minimap, making foraging for them quite easy.

I was starting out as a martial artist and I was looting a pizza parlor for food, only to find a poser (Cannibal) pizza.

Is this an intentional reference? Because it feels like one.

Most every joke ends up being a referance to something.

The challenge is finding what it is.

So any idea what the best way of clearing roads of cars with is?

A bigger car.

Surprising luck. Found two match triggers within an in-game day; one was in a gun basement, the other in one of those remains in the fields with some drugs scattered around.

Still, which gun to use it with…? MP5 could be a good choice since it’ll zero the gun’s dispersion, though it won’t do anything to the bullet dispersion. Using it on one of the rifles could be good, since it’ll cancel out the dispersion gain from attaching a grenade launcher on the underbarrel which I want to try. An alternate choice would be putting it on a handgun, since the gun dispersion of those weapons are often rather bad, though it won’t really completely reduce it to zero.

Tough choice, since once the match trigger is attached it can’t be removed again I think. Also got one tuned mechanism and two gyroscopic stabilizers.

I would prefer my car to not become a wreck. Or in this case solar powered bandit bulldozer.

^curling the plow in like this will let it take infinate damage as long as the tips don’t break off. ( - )

This is because the car won’t let any frame still attached to 4 adjacent frames break off. or… something like that.

Try this on the front of your car (facing north, like in the vehicle screen):

=======
= =
==== X=
   =

Since a frame can’t be destroyed if it would leave another frame unconnected, as long as frame marked with an X is still intact, the plow will never be fully broken off.

Ah yea, that^ thats what I meant.

So full end forward empty end back.
I am a still bit sore about being unable to make sheet metal.

Debating whether I want to go to the refugee center or not. I do like doing the commune missions but then again there is the randomness of where the ranch ends up being…

I’m just about to the end of summer, on 20 day seasons, and doing fairly well. A few minor CBMs and decent skills for my survivor.

Yeah, it gets rather annoying if the outpost that gets unlocked is rather far away when there’s another empty outpost close by.

Like, there’s a refugee center about ten map tiles east away from my base, and in between is nothing but open fields for walk or drive through. There’s an outpost west of my base, quite a bit farther than the refugee center but again it’s all open fields in between.

Outpost gets unlocked farther north, through a few cities with roads surrounded by forests here and there. Bit annoying since I have to turn the car every once in a while instead of just blasting straight through.

I reckon I’ll make some sort of motorbike-like vehicle, or at least some sort of 2x6 size vehicle with dual V12 engines so I can quickly travel to the outpost to trade any stuff the scrap dealer and bartender has on them.
