What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?
Well, the surface of the necropolis is cleared. Time for the vault levels.

Using the MP5 for this. Just effective enough to clear out the wanderers and nightmares. Got several spare magazines so reloading isn’t an issue, and ammo is high especially since the wanderers drop some sometimes. Main problem is still the lag. I feel that my brain is slowly turning into mush.
Maybe try using explosives liberally. Thin the numbers with maximum efficiency, taking them out 5-10 at a time. Possibly reassess how long or how many turns it’ll take to clear the place, or at least the observable i-wan swarm.

I doubt I’m the first person to do this, but I just finished making my Stylish-trait character a steampunk mad scientist outfit:

Helmet liner, western boots, suit and top hat are all kevlar reinforced. All up I get +22 morale from stylish (for an average focus level of 141) while retaining decent mobility and overall protection roughly on par with light survivor gear, at least for physical damage. With my fully modified and accurized heavy rail rifle and extreme cybernetic enhancements, I think I’ve got the steampunk scientist look down pat.
Indeed. The real issue is the linear spawn increase, seemingly without any upper limit. If only we had an optional upper limit per location or something. In practicality, one can’t (or really shouldn’t) use spawn factor 3.0x or above. MOST places will still be non-absurdly crowded but it’s those few locations that ARE overcrowded then:

 • the vault
 • mall
 • any others? slime pits? ant hills?
Schools. Big military outposts as well, though in that case there’s a slight benefit if you’re patient since you get a ton of useful loot from the zombie soldiers and bio-operators. Slight problem when dealing with increased grenadiers if you’re not careful.

Perhaps. Don’t have explosives brought, though. The bomb-hacks might be useful, I reckon.

So far, 1000+ irridated wanderers killed.

On the big military outpost, killed about 900+ zombie soldiers (total is around 1000+, but my survivor has killed zombie soldiers in other places). So big military outpost basement levels is about four floors deep with 3x3 map tiles each. Necropolis only has two levels (three if you count the sewer entrance)… and is a lot larger than 3x3.

Yeesh, looks like my survivor will be in here for a long time.

She’s currently cornered in a room. Can’t really switch to the MP5 right now, so she’s settling the fight via punch dagger and boxing. Her armor is decent enough to very rarely take tiny damage once in a blue moon, even with her stamina is basically zero at this point. So weird that her melee skills aren’t advancing to level 8, while her gun skills are quite high and still progressing, albeit slowly.

So far, current kill count of irridated wanderers is 2,000+. Overall kill count is 20,000+, so that’s about 10% irridated wanders, and it’s been only about five days since my survivor has entered the vicinity of the necropolis and the area is still laggy.

Survivor has been killing non-stop so far. Atomic coffee to stay awake. Switched to the rapier and fencing due to it’s counter-attack. At the very least my survivor can repair her armor, eat food, or reload the MP5 while countering attacks.

I’m just listening to podcasts at this point while the parts of my brain that plays the game is on autopilot. Haven’t even cleared the first floor of the necropolis yet.

I think an overhaul of the IWs would be prudent for the location, to make them spawn a little less ‘overwhelmingly’.

Would be nice. Kill count is currently 6k irridated wanderers. Let’s see, it was day 8 of winter on 91 day seasons since my survivor went down to the vault… before that she only had killed 18k creatures, and in a few days she’s added 6000 to her kill count. I’ve gone past the realm of tedium and into an oblivion of holding the tab key.

Like, at this point I’m just doing this because I’m pretty much just committed to just finishing what I started. There’s not even any danger, as I hacked the chicken walkers and other mechanical things on the floor above where they are.

12,900+ irridated wanderers killed.

Urgh. Never gonna do that again.

yea, vaults are crowded but its nice to kill them with fencing, just bring enought food and water because every group will lock your movement until everyone nearby is dead but after your controls get locked you can kill them while being idle

The moment I saw all the wanderers, I just sighed and left. No amount of loot is worth going through all that tedium, not even the self-satisfaction of clearing a vault out.

Plus, my character’s stats are absolutely insane (117+ strength, 65 intelligence, 70+ dex, 99 perception) and I can pretty much gib everything that’s in melee range.

I cleared a mall out however. I’m pretty sure there’s a mall start, i’d be pretty cool to run through an infested mall like it was Dead Rising.

How in the undead world do you guys get so insane stats?

A build from around 4 years ago, back in 0.A (The current stable build is 0.C), the way how I did it is that I made a martial arts master and basically made it end game (Good skills, mutations, bionics, etc.) Then I raided every military bunker, base, or outpost I could find for granades (No, this isn’t a spelling error).

Granades are pretty much a joke item, you pull the pin and hope you get a buff, which boosts your stats permanently. You can get nerfs, bees, bugfixes, or reverts which decrease your stats, spawn a cloud of ‘bees’ that blast your pain up and can’t be killed or escaped from, kills insects and lastly cures ailments or damage respectively.

I amassed around 15-20 granades and didn’t stop until I ran out of granades. Then I ported over my save and edited the name, gave it a threshold (Chimera), and stripped down to nothing and reverted all my skills to 0, and spawned myself in the middle of a city as a challenge.

So far I got rivtech armor, a armored and souped up humvee, and a massive amount of items stored in the car.

Basically all i’m doing is wandering around and trying to find a strong challenge to my character. But to be honest, it’s difficult. NPC’s that are wander spawned are instantly hostile, I instantly kill pretty much anything at close range, My health is sky-high due to my mutations and strength stat, and I can pretty much instantly regenerate my health by feeding on corpses or meat in general (Yes, sometimes I butcher zombies for meat, since I can eat it).
But honestly, I can’t bring myself to give myself a nerf or something, i’m not a big fan of artificial difficulty.

Right now i’m clearing out a mall while taking quests from a refugee center.

Pretty sure I just stumbled across a teleporter accident…

Collected most of the 9mm casings in the necropolis. Hard to tell if I got them all.

Got around 12k casings total. Went down with 1k bullets, and in the end there was still enough bullets to take, around 4k, so I guess there was a profit.

Yeah, I’ve been finding those off and on since… well, a good long time. Hadn’t seen one in a while, was wondering if it had been fixed.

The annoying this was that you can’t transfer them out with advanced inventory managedment - you have to manually pick it up, then drop it somewhere to butcher it. (I have a thing where I always butcher all the human corpses to make use of the sinew… that’s all I can find that’s generally useful, but at least I make something of them, eh?)

That reminds me. I no longer see cars on cities that are running, or to be exact I see no cars that have their lights on, which causes some… fun when you turn a corner and all of a sudden everything is lit up and you’re then being chased by everyone.

I just jumped off the top of a office tower unscathed. I’m going to test the height of which my ‘god’ character can fall from and still survive.

EDIT: I teleported from level 10 Z level and didn’t even get a scratch. Does dexterity prevent falling damage?

Quite a lucky turn of events. Ice lab, six floors in winter. Dealt with everything with an ammo belt fed Barrett, killing any threat in the way.

Bottom floor CVD machine, also found three martial arts books: Silat, Eskrima, and Ninjutsu.

The surrounding location is also nice; refugee center east of the lab, outpost on the west. There’s even a hospital with a stem cell machine in case of broken legs. No river or swamp nearby though, but the other locations make up for it.

Looks like I’ve found a new base.
