What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Day 8: Decided to head a bit north in search of the book I needed (I had electronics 3, and books for up to Elec 10, but needed at least 6 to learn from them) And found an RV in need of only light repairs.
Eventually made it to the mansion up north, it was swarmed with ants. Stayed there for a day while I searched the place. I will have to go back after the RV is ready, ants is good eatin’.

Day 10: After I got back, I found out I didn’t have the welder or wrench I needed, so a trip into town it was. A few days later I found enough supplies to actually make the wrench myself (And found the welder and some acy torches) Also lucked out and found a welding cart inside the garage. Found a sports car that I was able to fix quickly.

Day 12: I began fixing the RV, and disassembling the sports car so I wouldn’t have to walk out to get it (And also as replacement parts for the RV). Took 4 days of work, and spent another 2 or so out disassembling a few other vehicles with useful parts (Such as alternators and solar panels, and ALL the batteries. My RV has so much battery storage now.)

Brought my goodies home and began construction of: Mother Base
Has all the crafting stations I could need, storage for all of my things (My mansion house was neatly packed inside, everything I needed was kept intact, all else was disassembled for parts and to save space) and plenty of power.
I also made a folding peddle/electric powered bike that I store in the back of the RV now, called: Scout Bike.
Finished on Day 24, Summer is just 6 days away. I must be ready… to dehydrate all the fruit, meat, and veggies for winter. Luckily there are fungal creatures to the south east, ants to the north east and plenty of swamps and forests for fruit and starch.

I will need more storage.

And I need to find cameras for my base, so I can close up the windows I made without losing LOS around the base. I will do this on the way south to the community center, maybe strip a few more solar panels and the firetruck I found.

My end goal is to one day make a ‘space ship’. Then spawn a bunch of enemies around it and try to survive inside for a month (30 days, a season). If I can do that, I will retire the character and start anew.
Assuming I live that long.
can’t help but divvy them up into different categories like booze, condiments, uncooked foodstuffs, confections, drinks, blah blah blah.

I’ve been staying in door for almost 1 week now, I’ll die at this pace before the zombies finally found me and gnaw on my brain. Help.
I know how it feels.

Fun fact. I wasn’t even satisfied with how I divided up my goods.

No reason not to - they don’t do anything just sitting there, and you can get some plutonium cells from dismantling it.
Yes, but the somewhat reasonable part of me was… can you fail this and cause massive radiation…?

plutonium cell intact - no radiation;
plutonium cell damaged - just walk away.

My survivor now has a pneumatic bolt driver. Whoever made it so that steel crossbow bolts can be crafted has my eternal gratitude.

Now planning on making an underground lair. Don’t have enough bionic power, and a UPS bionic, but gonna plan anyway. So far, my thought is to make a three level monster. First floor surface level base, some sort of open camp with a few shacks here and there, and a big garage. Second level is the main storage with some rooms/workshops, and third level will be my survivor’s personal palace.

Survivor found a gun with an ammo belt full of .308 ammo. Removing the ammo, and using it on the Savage 111F, it was time to practice some marksmanship.

A school filled with zombie children are an excellent source of training. Level 9 at this point, and so far it’s slowly progressing to 10. About 100 more zombies in the distance, and there’s still enough ammo.

Gotta love that trail of blood and futile efforts as my survivor guns down the zombies coming her way.

Just don’t aggro fifty jabberwoks and a thriller and you will be fine

Early autumn, I was bringing back a heavy load of stuff, full cart, VERY full self (wearing a duffel and a rucksack, AND wielding something large other than a weapon). It’s night, and I’m nearly “home” (ice lab), the area is pretty cleared out (though hordes are on)…

And, there’s a zombie child… annoyance. I light a bush on fire instead of dealing with everything, which works fine and kills it… but then, more and more just keep coming. ?!? This area was CLEAR! I’ve walked it during the day multiple times without problem…

Sigh. Fire is my friend, and I kill several that way… until one of them (apparently) drops some ammo.

So, several hundred pain, all 4 limbs broken, have to use fire to finish everything off because I can’t bloody MOVE with all this stuff and pain… anyway, got through that.

Now, it’s just shy of two SEASONS later, and while my arms and one leg mended withing 3 days, I have one leg that just won’t heal. Yes, I’ve got a splint. I’ve read every book I’ve got (level 10 in several skills, level 8 in a bunch). I’ve got plenty of food… and I was originally on my way back from the only hospital in the area, and it had no Mr Stem Cell.

Any suggestions? Any other means of healing a broken limb? It’s getting REALLY annoying - never had this problem for so long before.

It finally mended a few days later - just over 2 full seasons in a splint. Man, I feel like I’m sprinting everywhere I go now without that massive leg encumbrance!

That was really annoying. Stupid RNG.

It seems like ammo explosions are unrealistically huge and damaging. When ammo cooks off it doesn’t go off like TNT.

Yeah, they are pretty dumb, but meh, there are worse things.

It really ought to be some kind of “x number of shots in random directions” where “X” is about 1/3 of the amount of ammo (the rest going too much “up” to be dangerous… well, unless you are in the same square!).

Potentially massively damaging, realistically not usually so (at least, not in a world where taking a single gun shot wound really isn’t THAT bad).

I have recently started the mall cop scenario. After Sneaking out of the mall, I found a scooter, and used it to get to a nearby town. There was a ‘peaceful’ riot control bot there, and it gassed me, making me unable to hit anything. Getting annoyed, I got a pick-up and reversed into the bot, however I was blinded by a smoke zombie and lost control, which resulted in me colliding into a gunstore and collapsing the roof. Fun times. I also later found out I flattened half a supercar as well. Luckily the owner was dead

Setting up base in an ice lab. Not ready yet for my big base plans, but I wanna keep the temporary living quarters tidy and organized. Simplifying my usual madness of arranging things in containers… like instead of keeping guns separated by category, all guns go in just one display rack. They need to be at least in normal condition, with the magazines removed from the guns. And the magazine must have no ammo in it unless it’s gonna be used. So, display racks for guns, magazines, ammo, gun mods, melee weapons, throwing weapons, explosives, and a table next to that line of racks where I place the firearm repair kit. Maybe a crate to hold casings.

In general, trying to fit all of this in one room. Or a fourth of a room. It’s one of those lab layouts, with the corridor and four rooms to go to. The room used was the one with the goo pits. Set up a tent there to serve as the bedroom.

As much as possible, this temporary base has to fit everything in that one room.

About to dive back into the game …

Well, the first 4 attempts did not go well. For some reason I always got whacked to death by a Mi-Go which was nearby in the first few hours. (Always created a new world for each game.)

Will see how it continues.

And it’s done, my temporary base, with a simplified layout of arranging my survivor’s loot. A bit cramped, but I’ve managed to fit everything in one room… well, almost. The misc/other items category was placed in the room across of the one where my survivor is.

Tent serves as the bedroom, while the potted plant hides a locker where my survivor keeps the diamonds and artifacts.

Well, two big things happened. Really big things.

I took my RV with a souped up engine and full steel plating out for a spin in the field to the east to see how fast I could go. I discovered I could go well over 100 miles per hour, and decided to just screw around there for a bit. Suddenly, I notice a bunch of zombie soldiers right in front of me. I go even faster, then make a sharp turn, causing me to drift right into the soldiers. My RV got painted pink and red, and I recovered some C-4 and a LAW from one of the soldiers. I took out part of my front end, though. Gonna have to fix that.

As I was clearing out the last bits of my current town, found a basement full of giant cellar spiders, but felt I was well equipped. I left my pack upstairs and went on a ax swinging rampage fueled by aspirin, alcohol, and military grade stimulant. Every time I hit one, it exploded into gore, and flew 1-3 tiles across the room, which was oddly satisfying. I found a power armor helmet (Did a little victory dance when I did), a laser rifle, and some plutonium, as well as a map which gave me the locations of bunkers, and other military operations. Somehow I managed to survive being poisoned like 10 times. I’m working on getting some more survivor gear, and repairing my RV.

Spring, Day 10

Still addicted to alcohol in this timeline.

Found an SUV on day 5, an electric SUV, with only missing wheels. Easy fix, right?
Except no. I need a wrench, and I dont have one. So I take my beat up beaner off to a nearby town and make to find one.

A rattler was preying on zeds, and I tried that first. Well, the pile of bodies not only did not have one, but decided to get back up and chase me into a house I burned down. I searched the whole town, eventually trading my car for a motorbike and raiding up and down the streets, avoiding the brutes and killing the regulars.

I couldnt find one. But, on one of the last streets I searched I found a working humvee, which supersedes any Electric SUV. Awesome as the SUV would have been …

So now I have a baseball bat, sufficient 5.56 ammo, and a shrapened piece of metal. I have a retractable baton, and a shotgun with ammo. I have prozac for my eventual withdrawl, and I have many much other random goodies. Not enough straight food or water though. Wildlife is not as common as before, and sources of water arent hard to find but can be scarce outside of cities and outside of using a funnel or river.

Well, I also fortified my armor with kevlar, enough to make it substantially more durable. By taking bodysuits and fortifying them I have, or should have, more protection. Mostly a test to what I usually do. But Im interested in seeing the result. Actually, I want to take a leather touring suit and use it, but theyre so flipping rare.

Still Summer is almost here, and zed combat has remained sufficiently risky because of my low accuracy weapon and my tissue-paper thin linens

Thought I’d try out pisskop’s ‘Rebalancing’ mod and installed ontop of the latest experimental; generated the world ‘Dunwitch Basin’ (my usual world naming procedure/homage.)

My first life was actually the longest lived mall cop I’ve ever had. Most of them just get fucked up by the hordes within 3 tiles of the mall, but this mall was set in the middle of a scenic swamp with a mild fungaloid infestation burning through it. Spent 3 days gearing up and living in that mall laying down the law with a shotgun, extendable baton and the very lucky find of a riot shield. Eventually died testing out a motorcycle that pulled in 8 zombies, and my ultamate killer, a jumping spider who just inflicted somewhere in the area of 150 pain before all my limbs were broken. The sad thing is I only realized that I could have just used my tazer to kill it and taken on the zombies easily as the armor on my body and head were so good that they were almost at max health despite the shattered limbs.

Second and current life is a pacifist preacher who started with an infected bite on the head in a house. Kept hearing a racket outside so I peak out a window to see zombie bodies laying everywhere. Further intruiged, and hopeful that I might be able to make an NPC friend to trade for antibiotics (or at least help me run into town for some) I stepped outside.

KRRAKOW. Not nine paces from me a fucking HELLKNIGHT is plasma torching a zombie soldier in my front yard and looks about ready to turn to me. I have no combat skills except throwing and dodging (played a bit of college ball) no weapon, and nothing that could be called ‘armor’ except a megre holy symbol so I book it in the other direction around the corner of the house and take off across the open field. Checking my map I see that the apocalypse has come and Satan himself moved into the neighborhood across the street.

I was so busy bewailing my misfortune that I didn’t notice the unassuming tan ‘I’ and nearly bowled over an ‘imp’ the imp scorches me blind with a fireball and now I’m running lunatic blind through an open field away from the legions of hell. A second fireball scorches my shirt off, and my vision clears to see a group of zeds ahead of me, the imp angrily persuing and a lost soul right on my ass knawing on my arm. SOMEHOW I juke around the dead who engage the demons and now I’m hiding in the shadows of a pizzaria with 150 pain nursing, nausea, a broken arm and infected head wound, while I watch ANOTHER hellknight dueling a shocker zombie as countless trapdoor spiders erupt from the street around the two.

Amusingly, Tobias MacTanish’s mood remains a solid :expressionless: as, while it is greatly upsetting to lose your property value to the Lords of Darkness he’s probably feeling vindicated having predicting exactly this sort of scenario in an age of vice and wickedness.

Suffice to say, I’m impressed so far.
