What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

According to the powers that be.

I just rammed into a zombie brute that spawned directly in front of my car and took out my engine block. I want that to sink in.

Yea, so wander horde brute magic-spawned onto my engine block so I needed a new car. I found a semi out of town, and I spent days fixing it up before retrieving my loot one night.

Now I have a semi with 2 welder tanks and ~1200 batteries put into it. Has a mini fridge and should suffice for the moment. I say as I think about all the poor, poor damage it will take as a lightly armored vehicle. Unarmored I mean.

I swear. This could even be novel for me. With my experience with the game Ive developed a system of travel. Out the back and diagonal aisle trunks for tire access.

Still no ammo. Worse, an infected survivor deagled me in my chest and I lost my 00 rounds killing it.

Got my fabrication up to level 9 after finding all the good books early on. Made a couple homemade explosives, then tried lighting one and lobbing it at a shocker.

Never use grenades with little or no skill in throwing.

I blew my arm off, and now I’m waiting for it to heal. Sitting in my church base, eating junk food, deconstructing furniture, welding a machine gun to my RV.

The RV is fully covered in steel plating, and loaded up with books to read on the go. And some other junk I tossed in because I was to lazy to sort it out. I’ll replace the trunk with a better storage thingy, maybe a cargo carrier? After that, I’ll install a welding rig, then bring aboard my metalworking tools.

Decided to do a meme run, as a displaced doughboy, to find out that someone make bayonets @&*$+!^ underbarrel mods again. Its, just… who keeps doing this and why?! It makes no logical sense, and means you cant shove a bayonet on the guns that make the most sense to have one on.

Well I took over a mansion that was near me when I started with the help of a full set of Plate Armor (Fits) I found.
Apparently I am a knight now, the apocalypse does things to people.
Got bumrushed by 5 Bandits and thugs armed with sticks, knives and armored leather jackets.
I beat them to death with the mace I found, barely taking any damage thanks to the armor.
(My stats are pretty good right now due to the library having a TON of good skill books)
So a pretty good first 5 days to start!

27 days in and I’m rolling around in a tank full of cargo carriers and crafting rigs. The diesels (I pulled two out) run it when it’s out of juice, and a bunch of large electric motors scavenged from electric SUVs run it when it’s not. That and the solar car I pulled apart for panels.

Acid rain is still annoying. I haven’t managed to find the stuff to craft an entry suit yet. At some point I’m going to need to get setup to produce bio-diesel but so far I’ve stumbled across a few other ruined military vehicles and taken their sweet sweet guzzoline.

The pneumatic assault rifle feels… rather off. Like, I dunno if it’s the version I’m playing being odd (about two-three weeks old experimental), but with the minimum gun skills to make it, and it’s doing 30 damage on a head shot with just pebbles - just on standard zombies, since zombie soldiers still shrug off the damage.

Still, it’s odd. At 4 marksmanship and 4 rifles, I’m easily sniping out shockers with the pneumatic assault rifle. Hard to justify making other handmade guns when the PAR is doing a fine job for most situations. Like, way back then, I remember the PAR being potent, but at that point I had a survivor with great rifles skills, and bearings as ammo.

I think pebbles have been downgraded a bit. Try experimenting with bearings.

I remember playing an old version… think it was before DDA. There were items lying on the road, surrounded by traps.

Like, no real reason mentioning it. I just remembered that it was so.

Somewhat a shame that I don’t have the old games anymore since my old laptop is now permanently busted, since it may have been interesting to try the old game again - see what no longer exists in current versions, that sorta thing.

yea, bear traps and crossbows and shotguns.

minefields lacked signposts

acid rain damaged you and items and monsters

i was so new i was trying to learn basics …

man. you can dl the earliest dda versions by hitting git. and im sure somebody os hosting whalesdev cata

Started out as a military man who’s helicopter crashed, both my arms are almost gone, and one of my legs is almost dead. I spawned right next to a school and picked up a bunch of junk food and sodas from it and am now trying to find somewhere quiet to let my arms and leg heal.

Piss started out 2 feet from a hellspire. Running south of town to a mineshaft I leveled tailoring and found a machine gun. I did this with a migo right outside my door, trapping me inside until a hell knight removed it and posed their own problem.

Traveling north and around town, I looted my way north to a graveyard. I dont know if I like them changing it, but its a much more common and viable source of shelter and vehicles. so enh.

I got greedy and tried to loot a sporting goods store. Welp, the sun came up while I was inside and 3 tiles into the city. I was stuck there, picking off stray zeds for the cloth and crafting all day. Midday I got bored and ran for a nearby house while zeds were smashing cars. I was followed, but a molotov helped a lot to clear them out. I spent the rest of the retreating to said graveyard, and found an SUV outside that ran. In the morning I swapped over, but a moose saw me and predictably hung around until it grew hostile. I ended up keeping several plastic chunks on fire, keeping it passive enough. damn moose. :stuck_out_tongue:

Greatly enjoying the can sealer and the means to can food. For my cannibal characters, they’re often stuck with making amoral aspic or jerk jerky early to mid-game, but the sap soup coming in sealed cans is very nice.

Day 07 Spring

I found an SUV at the graveyard. and I used it to ram a Tank Drone outside of town who was helpfully shooting at what it thought was more dangerous than me, a mi-go. Well, I have a car going 100mph, guess who won?

I took its cargo truck and now am struggling to find space for my goodies. Well no matter, I am taking to sanctuary to read up and try to raise my abysmal health rating. Such is the life of a drunk.

I found 2 rivtech guns, a auto shotgun and auto magnum. Both damaged so badly I wouldnt use them even if I wanted to use such OPness.
Well, the autoshotgun is useful and its ammo rare enough to make me willing to take it out for a hulk or something.

I also found my PRM signiture autoshotgun, the Fateless. The fateless is based on the doom shotgun loosely, with some loose interpretation of physics mixed in.

A 12 shot gun, it can auto 2 shells a turn and has pretty okay accuracy. Since I cant implement hitscan or hitting multiple targets, meh.

So I have a rare shotgun, a badly damaged rare shotgun, a magnum of pain bringing, a machine gun, and also an m9 and a shortbow. I am testing out my candlestick wepaon, an 8lb, -1 accuracy, and 16 bashing. For 133 move points. I dont know if its balanced out enough, tbh, but its a real piece Id love to own. Silver and gilded and ohh so nice to imagine.

Found a humvee on a bridge.

There is a hell castle somewhere, idk where, and its far enough from town to be quiet after I cleared out a revenant and 3 knights. with my truck and an emergency shotgunning.

I have a humvee, need a welder. Ive forgotten what the reqs to learn the welder is. 3 mech 2 elec?

idk.

I need it though. Triffids south of the bridge are wrecking the world’s least medicated hospital. Seriously, diazapram is the only consolation I have from the endeavor. But I did get the idea to review what monsters could transmit tetanus. Who is ready for ‘rusty cyborgs’? :o

I’m having a tough fucking time moving all my rations onto the new metal racks since I was too fucking lazy to build them when settling in my new base and now there are MOUNTAINS of foods lying on counters that I need to pick up, toss them aside, move the rack in and lay them down again, times ad infinitum.
Also since I’m slightly autistic, can’t help but divvy them up into different categories like booze, condiments, uncooked foodstuffs, confections, drinks, blah blah blah.

I’ve been staying in door for almost 1 week now, I’ll die at this pace before the zombies finally found me and gnaw on my brain. Help.

It sounds like you’re not using advanced inventory menu for this (the “toss aside” part is a part of the “move” action in advanced inventory). You should - it’s much less painful that way.

I’m curious enough that I’m debating on dismantling a plutonium generator.

No reason not to - they don’t do anything just sitting there, and you can get some plutonium cells from dismantling it.

Thanks for the reply but the damage have already been done, I’m a broken man with some seriously sore fingers now
