What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Shucks, thanks! I try, and seeing people roleplay with the mod is always good, since its supposed to add more flavor as well as make the world more eventful.

Summer, Day 10

Settled down some. I detoxxed with the prozac I had and read up some of the basic auxiliary skills. Like throwing and electronics and cooking.

I did so in a lab, i which I found a purifier to add to my collection of 1 purifier and a few mutagens. They gave me weak stomach, albino, pain resistant, a beak, and light fur. Well, I double purified and am left with weak stomach and light fur. I had strong stomach, damnit.

Either way, the light fur is livable. The weak stomach can be partially mitigated with some heartburn medications. They reduce the chance of vomit and in small doses have a small chance of upping the health stat over time.

I found some 9mm ammo for my glock, and have 3 mags of it on me, using it to suppliment my awful throwing spears and my hefty shotgun. Can obliterate every raccon that comes across me looking funny, now can I?
Actually, while detoxxing 2 racoons DID start shit with me. I was trying to cook some meat and they took umbrage to the deaths of some dogs nearby. So I had fun trying not to waste actual ammo on them.

Found a mall in the middle of a swamp as they occasionally do, and tried to decon a humvee for its parts. I can now begin the process of expanding my humvee into proper size. Well, it lasted about a day, with the zeds fighting some triffids, but the wandering hordes and reviving zeds got too troublesome while I tried to sleep off my tired. And daylight posed its own problems, of course.

At the end of it, I was able to scavange some parts to repair my truck and outfit it with some truncks instead of backseats. So a win. Also some reinforced headlights to aid in nighttime visioning. Important for me to have, so that I can properly navigate intercity and see the zeds without being seen in return.

… umm…
while initially i wanted to preserve the learning experience for new players to the mod, i feel a few things spoiled would gp far to enhance survivability.

  1. doom mons will wreck your day as any nongod melee character or a gun user.
  2. hell spires have an influence of only a few blocks
  3. demons cannot smell. nondemons of the faction can
  4. almost all monsters have a ‘way’ to avoid them. many its fire or sound. not all though.
  5. ambulances and hospitals are good places for aid. I’ve tinkered with most of the game’s spawns however.
  6. ive added many parking lots outside of town. you may want to grab a lighter and make like a pope in the woods.

As soon as I can craft an entry suit so I can’t be set on fire I’m gonna start taking a peek at the hell citadel on the map. I’ve been finding a lot of m240s and m60s so combined with my SCAR-H I have an extremely good rifle with plenty of ammo. I suspect I will regret this but fuck it, it’ll make a great death story.

Snuck out at dusk now that things are quieting down, now armed with an umbrella, found a pharmacy and set off the alarm breaking through the back door, NO ANTIBIOTICS and the noise pulled in more of the bastards.

[glow=red,2,300]‘Guess I’ll just die man.png’[/glow]

I’m running away trying to avoid the shocker I see sparkling in the dark and planing out how to sneak to a doctor’s office further in town when I get the message.
[glow=red,2,300]>Your wound begins to feel much better. [/glow]

I reckon miracles happen.

edit: aaaannnd a random sewer rat gave me a new bite, so easy come, easy go. Good news, found a LMOE shelter in the middle of a field, bad news, was persued by a small mob of zeds with a skeleton or two in there for good measure, and it sadly has no antibacterials. At least I now have something approaching actual weapons.

edit’s edit: Hulk no care about puny shotgun, hulk smash, smash all.

After a streak of 10+ banks with underwhelming loot (basically either pocket watches and money bundles, or nothing at all), my survivor finds some nice stuff, the Rivtech combat armor. Hooray.

Somehow, driving a car 80 mph fails to run through a crate in the middle of the road, not to mention slamming my survivor and her followers inside the car. Completely odd given that the car has so far managed to recover from plowing through cars and trees while managing to keep momentum going.

The car just straight up stopped, and even more baffling is that several section of the car got damaged from running into a crate.

I just found out that my ‘God’ character can’t interact with NPC’s. I guess having 117+ strength instantly makes them terrified of me.

I’m still baffled by the crate crash.

Like seriously, several of the heavy duty frames is destroyed/grayed out. The car had less damage from accidentally plowing through a forest at 120 mph, and vaporized a hulk at 70 mph. 80 mph on an opened crate and it looked like it ran through several land mines.

That’s the SOKOBAN POWER.

My survivor is beginning to wonder what she’s doing with her life, having spent the past three days running around a wide area of fields and forests, torching fungaloids when she sees them. So much burning to the point where her arms almost got broken from being too close to the napalm.

That said, once she switched to regular gasoline the temperatures aren’t as high, avoiding the risk of damage.

where are you getting napalm to play with

It came loaded on the rivtech flamethrower when I found it.

How did you get your strength that high?

1 freeform character
2 debug menu
3 granade grinding with crazy cata mod

betting 2. maybe 1. unlikely 3. at least not anymore :stuck_out_tongue:

Greatly enjoying the slingshot cannon. Thanks to it’s large range, my survivor can lob off big bang and blast canisters at a max range of 60. 40 to 50 tiles and more and zombies can’t see my survivor, making the slingshot cannon practically a sniper rifle.

Day 01

My survivor buddy spawned with a cx9 storm and some ammos. YoY, he passed his 32% ‘be my buddy’ check. I always choose that option, even if others are higher. for flavors.

He came with me, making loud racket throughout my 1stop town. We lasted until dawn, when a survivor zombie found us. In order to live, I had to light fires and rely upon him, but he kind of forgot to reload at some point, and when a gasbag zed came over with a 2nd survivor zed I left him. He died when the smoke clear, and I used fire to clean up the survivor. I claimed his cx9, used a first aid on my body, and headed off. I wanted to pick the leather clothing out, but I didnt have the space to. So I left it. I found a buggy south of there, with 2% fuel and battery. The lawn-spawned house cars are usually good for it.

So, a rocky start, but we lived. I only have 6 kills. that means the fire or my buddy took most of them.

You have a funny definition of “we”. Heh.

How did you get your strength that high?[/quote]

Porting over my old character “Master” from 0.A, during that time I made it a goal to find as many granades as I could. Needless to say, I managed to amass a large amount and didn’t stop until I ran out.

Anyway, I ported it over to a newer world and I’ve been messing around with it a bit for the past week or so, and I noticed that all NPC’s were hostile the moment I encountered them. Later I found out it was the strength level and it’s intimidation factor. I looked at the NPC’s opinion of my character and it always showed up as “terrified”.

Whatever, my character is a cannibal anyway.

Now that my schooling is just about done and life isn’t as crazy, I’ve been getting back into the game again with a new character.

Really struggled the first few days, I remembered having an easy time back in the old days kiting so I turned up the zed speed to make trying to kite more than two zeds really dangerous. It worked, and my first handful of characters died of being torn apart, or infection from numerous wounds, or starvation, etc. Latest character has actually been pretty successful so far, got guns, ammo, food, gear, but had a hard shortage of books.

So, loaded up my Cx9, the two extended m9 mags I had for it, and about a hundred rounds of 9mm, because I’d noticed a horde along the path to the bookstore I’d spotted.

Turns out there wasn’t just one horde. After an entire day of fighting, shooting, scavenging ammo, more shooting, I made my way into the bookstore, loaded up my cart with books, and crawled my wounded, shredded clothing covered body back to base. From the brass I brought back, I’d fired around 300 rounds. Up to 374 kills now, probably half of them from that day alone. Worst part was constantly disengaging to reload magazines. Really sucks that magazines gotta be reloaded all at once or not at all. Get interrupted 90% of the way through, and all the progress is lost.

So far, using the slingshot cannon has been doing wonders on my survivor’s marksmanship skills. Almost at level 15, though at the same time her launchers skill is moving slowly at level 5.

Also discovered that lead balls can be crafted, giving my survivor a safe option of firing the slingshot cannon at close range.
