I might be in trouble…
Having become one with the slime, I attempted to become one with the fungus. It did not go well. The seeds and gelatin went down just fine although I lost my slime hands mutation, but the berry…well I spent 6 hours vomiting and passed out from the pain.
Marloss rejection acquired. No magic mushroom powers for me. Guess I’ll just cook up a crap load of other mutagens and see what happens.
One mutation line or the other. No mutli-classing.
Marloss will violently reject you.

You need to remove that brute/hulk/tank looking guy and then drive off. its not that hopeless, unless you cant get to your controls.
Bring inside your car, you should be able to molotov him and kill him with fire while remaining relatively safe due to being in the car. Be warned that fire can actually hurt vehicles if it is intense enough.
My shelter was right next to the refugee center. Also, I found a toolbox on one of my first kills, but I’m lacking in good skill books to actually be able to use it. I did some missions, which went by easily (Killing a bandit, which was unarmed, and killing a group of bandits, whom I ran over with a fire truck). I currently have a “deal with informant” mission which led to me getting caught in an explosion of unknown sources and breaking both my arms (the rest of me is OK).

This makes me sad. It seems I can’t acquire any other thresholds either, or maybe I’m just unlucky. Still, chug mutagen for the win.
The Horrible Spongeman is now a psychopathic slime beast with thick black fur, a rat tail, insect mandibles, claws, and rodent whiskers. And for some reason grotesque. Come on, he’s not THAT ugly.
Update on my last post: I decided to go to the next town to find a bookstore, but I got boomered and crashed my fire truck. RIP.
My latest survivor may well be my best yet. Set up around a LMOE Shelter I found after lengthy wanderings in the woods, and eventually got set up with full blacksmithing capabilities. Then I found a lab ID card, and finally got to explore the lab I found ages ago.
I had no capacity to deal with the computers holding all those lovely CMBs away from me, so I just used the pickaxe I forged to break through the wall and steal them all that way. And now I have an integrated toolset. First time I’ve ever had a survivor live long enough to genuinely earn one - I’ve had them before from the bionic starting classes, but never found and installed one myself.
There’s only one problem. I accidentally got teleported whilst exploring the lab, and I think it gave me fungal infection. Here’s hoping I can find a solution before my arms explode!

If you’re in a lab, find royal jelly - ASAP!
Smoked meat, oatmeal, sauerkraut, and fruit leather, cover all vitamins, and are nicely piled along the log wall of Kogan’s forest camp.
He then finds out that potato cannot be made into vodka, quite surprised!
Update: Continued exploring the lab. Killed a zombie scientist in a closed off part of the lab (Pickaxe ho!) who dropped some antifungal drugs. Phew, that was worrying for a while.
Decided to leave the lab for a bit before I attract the attention of something I can’t deal with (Manhacks and broken cyborgs I can do. Skitterbots are painful and could kill me in numbers, but I fear the day I run into a secubot.)
Headed towards a nearby town to try myself against the horde. Took down a large number of Zs, including a few nastier ones, using some grenades I found ages back. Unfortunately, whilst butchering the corpses, a shocker brute found me and started beating the ever loving crap out of me along with his grabber friends. I managed to prevail in the end, but I am currently limping back to base with a broken arm and no limbs above half health.
You need serum to break threshold. The chance for it depends on how “specialized” you are: if you are obviously a fish with fishy fins and fishy scales and no bear hands, it will be easy to get fish threshold, but if you’re a fanged, furry, slow, slimy grazer trying to get bird, the chances are pretty low.

Based on your earlier post and the verbiage here, you already have slime threshold, right? You can only cross one mutation threshold per character - it’s permanent, unremovable, unpurifiable, and exclusive.

That was a VERY lucky drop - antifungal meds are VERY rare. Finding fungicide is less rare - it usually takes several doses to get the job done, but it comes in batches of 400, so no worries. I think it hurts your health, though.
Secubots are basically mobile turrets that traded their light for infinite ammo. You need VERY serious armor take one on in melee, but in the dark, if you can get them lit up and have a ranged weapon to get the job done, they aren’t too bad… except that there are usually several of them. Yeah, they’re a pain.

While your recovering, make some pipe bombs. Light, toss back between you and the brute. Run, If you can bait them into a car/house and have them both explode = double win.
It’s my brute/hulk emergency fund.
Further updates: Went back into the lab with my pickaxe again, broke into a barracks area. Found a fuckton of ammo, as expected, but also found a martial arts book - namely, the one for Pentjak Silat. Unfortunately, since the Wiki is down (at least for me), I don’t actually know how good that is, if at all. People’s thoughts?
Also, I made myself a reflex recurve bow, and holy shit is it so much better than my old crossbow. Comparable damage with the ability to actually fire more than once a combat. Stuck a few mods on it, and now I am reliably hitting things from twice the distance, too.
Regarding secubots, I am primarily archery specced right now, though I can do most styles of fighting at about level 4. Mainly use my fists now, though, since I am not going around with my bayonetted crossbow since I swapped to an actual bow. Its one of the reasons I am so excited about getting a martial arts book - I think its PROBABLY better than brawling, right?
I consider brawling to be one of the best fighting styles. True, it’s not Krav Maga, but it still has counter-attack. You can kill a zombie, bring 10 friends of his over, start butchering a corpse and by the time you ignored all the ‘you were attacked by a zombie, stop butchering?’ massages they’d all be dead.
See, its info like that that makes me wish the wiki still worked. Between that and the fact that pressing ? doesnt actually give me any info on them in game, I can’t actually check what any of the styles DO…
wiki does work.
check my sig?
That is literally the first working link to the wiki I have found in the last week. I dont know if its just been down for me, or if I have just been finding bad links, but I have been searching for a long, long time. Thank you.
It was my understanding that the wiki was going offline, owing to a lack of maintenance and the cost of keeping it up. Looks like I’m wrong. Cool.
And sadly it turns out no matter how many flavours of serum I inject, as others have said, I can never become more than a slime beast. Sad days are sad.
Oh well. I’ll just go “assimilate” some NPCs.
It went down Jan 1, IIRC, and somebody else picked it up and hosted it elsewhere - the link changed, but the wiki itself was only down, what, a week? 10 days?
