Ronson and his faithful companion Danielle continue to survive.
One new danger has been the sudden presence of hordes of zombies that seem to travel together and are attracted to loud noises. (I edited the save file to add hordes.) So far no large hordes have come to Lakeside Mansion, but Ronson has upgraded his defenses anyway. He started by building some concrete walls, but quickly ran out of concrete. He knew a way to make more from limestone (and could easily mine lime with a trusty jackhammer) but that took to long, so he switched to making metal walls instead. He spent most of September smashing vehicles into lumps of steel, turning that steel into plate, and the plate into walls, and now his room in Lakeside is surrounded on three walls by metal.
He finally assaulted that lab he’d found on his map. It was only a single level so it was quick to explore (yay! I hate huge labs) and the finale was guarded by security bots that didn’t know how to open doors and had weak security protocols - his trusty control laptop overwhelmed them. The most important part of the lab was Ronson managed to restock his depleted stock of SMG turrets and 9mm ammo that had been destroyed and expended while in the vault.
Ronson took the turrets back to Lakeside Manor and installed six of them at the approaches to his base and dug deep and wide pits around them. So far, they’ve done a great job of keeping the hordes away.
The lab also had a satellite view of the local area, which revealed two bee hives to the north. Ronson and Danielle drove up to the one closest to the edge of the woods, dodging a tank drone on the way and feeding a chicken walker a LAW. Raiding the bee hive was a success, netting dozens of royal jelly, honey combs, chunks of meat, and chitin. Ronson even tracked down the queen bee, but she was so afraid of him that he didn’t have the heart to kill her.
A few days later, Ronson found a solar car covered in upgraded solar panels. He took his folding motorcycle over to retrieve it, but ran out of charge fairly quickly and ended up dragging the motorcycle for a couple of hours. He eventually got the car back to base and dismembered it. He then adding a twin V-engine to the motorcycle to increase his endurance. Somewhere in this process, he spent a week building a garage for his sports car, which made navigating his APC around a little easier without having to worry about hitting the car.
It’s now the 62nd day of autumn. Snow was falling when Ronson got up in the morning, but it turned to rain by mid day. Ronson has a winter set of survival gear ready, but so far, his standard gear is warm enough.
He’s actually looking for new things to do now. There’s a fungal tower not too far away, and he make take a day to go and destroy it.
