sure sure. Of coarse you did. definitely didn’t say greater than. Definitely.
First time playing after long hiatus.
I’m planning on making a weapon master char. I will try to level piercing, bashing, cutting, handguns, rifles and SMGs up evenly and as high as possible.
I started out as a shower victim with no combat skills except for dodging and began slowly clearing out the small town with a spear and fake swords from the pawn shop. The first firearms are starting to pop up in basements and pipe rifles in various calibers are shaping my rifle skill pretty good.
I will have to get a chemistry/gun powder industry going in the long run so I am already watching out for tools and recipes.
The town is almost clear now and I’m patching up an old car so I can hopefully find a gun store soon.
I was spawned next to a refugee center. I settled down a house next to it, which has a good base for starting base. I started to explore the city. Collecting food, clothing, tools and battling monsters. I just met two survivors and the three of us tries to survive
Recovering after discovering that apparently young queen ants in PK’s mod can breath fire. That was unexpected, but probably needed to make ant hills not just giant piles of food for the taking. Currently working up to the point that I can actually clear a town of wander spawns rather than just being able to drive through the outskirts at high speed.
I just found a loaded RM228 PDW. In a grocery store.
Wat.
hydraulic muscles combined with furnace cbm,5 dodging and 7 unarmed while having over 16 str and using steel knuckles make for a rather decent combination.
even better when used with a mace, morningstar or sledgehammer.
i just charged an hostile npc shooting at me with a .22 pistol with just my fists and thrashed him.
Rosa the Razor Girl finished paying her respects to [insert important figure in Rosa’s life] at the cemetery just outside of town. It was the last time she would visit this place, and her devil-may-care attitude had faded away. She was calm.
Rosa turned on her heel and looked out over the graveyard wall, towards the buildings in the distance. This far from the city, it was serene. The spring breeze rustled the leaves on the trees, and she could almost kid herself that life was still going on as normal, that tonight would be another long night drowning out memories best left behind. Almost.
Sighing, Rosa began to walk towards the town - towards the carnage. Just like all those years ago. She couldn’t quite tell what she was fighting for, this time. Nobody was paying her. She wasn’t going to win, wasn’t going to claim anything. This would be the end of her story, and she would be forgotten, lost in the millions already killed by the great disaster.
But, her old self said, you’re not going to die holed up with all the others. You’re going to go back and die fighting, because that’s what you enjoy. Fighting. Don’t kid yourself about morality, Rosie, you just want to smash some heads in one last time.
Her face twisted into a cocky grin.
Her old self was probably right.
Rosa proceeded to use Tiger Kung Fu and her Razor Girl Parkour Powers (stats were 10/10/10/10) to decimate 80 zeds and six bears, seven of which were normals and the rest of which were various gribbly nasty specials, including a hulk and three shocker brutes. The entire time, she was hopped up on caffeine pills and brandy. She took a break in a basement, where she read a photo album for an hour or so and came to terms with how she’d never resolve the guilt from her edgy, generic past. She emerged from the basement, and proceeded to punch a decayed pouncer so hard it gibbed. By this point she was getting worn down and she’d already used both first-aid kits, so she hopped into a car and drove right through the main road, plowing through about ten zeds before crashing into a bear and dying.
That bear was metal as hell, it stopped a car going 70MPH.
in all, rosa was fun to play but she died pretty quick
she did nailbomb six bloated zeds at the same time, though
I FOUND A STACK OF 700 NX CARTRIDGES. WHEE!!
glad to say that i found hydraulic muscles and internal furnace on the same zombie technician.
together with a integrated tools cbm and that one that gave you more str off the other techs.
now i just need a fusion blaster to turn into a turret for my sandrail.
“Stranger! laughs What d’you need that for? Goin’ huntin’ an elephant?”
It was midnight, Kogan was lying under his wool cloak on the floor of a roadside water closet, with splint on both legs, when he heard “Blam! Blam!” That’s not zombie in car, nor deer on landmine, but man with gun!
I found a town littered with craters and had swarms of irradiated wanderers. I found a manhole and prying it open and jumping down revealed a very complicated sewer system/bunker thing. I’m currently exploring and clearing it out, and hopefully I’ll find a necropolis in there.
Barring odd map generator error, it’s there, if you can wade through enough wanderers to find it… and then a LOT more inside.
Just recently lost one of my more successful characters to stupidity - my archer got surprised by a basic zed and suffered a deep bite, got distracted cooking and organizing inventory after getting back to base and forgot to disinfect it. Made an emergency run to the nearest hospital for antibiotics. Managed to find some just inside the door after killing a boomer and regular zed, took some… and then took one step further into the room to check for other meds instead of just running, which is when the three spitters in the back of the room spotted me and promptly melted my legs before I could get away. RIP Marla the Prettiest Coal Miner.
My latest rando, a mundane test subject dropped in the middle of the woods, seems doomed to a mushroomy end. After a smash-and-grab night raid on a megamart, she woke up to find the house she crashed in completely surrounded by fungus. She’s been running through the wilderness for two days now, and every time she settles down for the night she wakes up to find more fungus patches and another tower on her map. Maybe it’s time to see what all this Marloss fuss is about.
9 ddays later, Kogan has new legs and a new rifleman, Maynard. Summer is coming. He takes off his boots that are too warm, and puts on a pair of cord sandals. He also wears socks. Socks and sandals, best for cool late spring.
Ronson and his faithful companion Danielle continue to survive.
One new danger has been the sudden presence of hordes of zombies that seem to travel together and are attracted to loud noises. (I edited the save file to add hordes.) So far no large hordes have come to Lakeside Mansion, but Ronson has upgraded his defenses anyway. He started by building some concrete walls, but quickly ran out of concrete. He knew a way to make more from limestone (and could easily mine lime with a trusty jackhammer) but that took to long, so he switched to making metal walls instead. He spent most of September smashing vehicles into lumps of steel, turning that steel into plate, and the plate into walls, and now his room in Lakeside is surrounded on three walls by metal.
He finally assaulted that lab he’d found on his map. It was only a single level so it was quick to explore (yay! I hate huge labs) and the finale was guarded by security bots that didn’t know how to open doors and had weak security protocols - his trusty control laptop overwhelmed them. The most important part of the lab was Ronson managed to restock his depleted stock of SMG turrets and 9mm ammo that had been destroyed and expended while in the vault.
Ronson took the turrets back to Lakeside Manor and installed six of them at the approaches to his base and dug deep and wide pits around them. So far, they’ve done a great job of keeping the hordes away.
The lab also had a satellite view of the local area, which revealed two bee hives to the north. Ronson and Danielle drove up to the one closest to the edge of the woods, dodging a tank drone on the way and feeding a chicken walker a LAW. Raiding the bee hive was a success, netting dozens of royal jelly, honey combs, chunks of meat, and chitin. Ronson even tracked down the queen bee, but she was so afraid of him that he didn’t have the heart to kill her.
A few days later, Ronson found a solar car covered in upgraded solar panels. He took his folding motorcycle over to retrieve it, but ran out of charge fairly quickly and ended up dragging the motorcycle for a couple of hours. He eventually got the car back to base and dismembered it. He then adding a twin V-engine to the motorcycle to increase his endurance. Somewhere in this process, he spent a week building a garage for his sports car, which made navigating his APC around a little easier without having to worry about hitting the car.
It’s now the 62nd day of autumn. Snow was falling when Ronson got up in the morning, but it turned to rain by mid day. Ronson has a winter set of survival gear ready, but so far, his standard gear is warm enough.
He’s actually looking for new things to do now. There’s a fungal tower not too far away, and he make take a day to go and destroy it.
Ronson
I read through Ronson’s story which is a good read. It must be a realistically long year with 90 day seasons.
Yeah, Ronson’s world has 90 day seasons. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad - you get more time to learn skills and find equipment before the dog days of summer, but winter is possibly going to be brutal because you have to go for 3-4 months on your stored food. I think he’s sitting pretty with around two tons stockpiled but I’ll have to see.
Food is FAR too plentiful for winter to be a problem, unless you just don’t prepare for it at all, and even then, there are still several ways (Ye Olde Ant Hill being the easiest, of course).
The thing about long seasons, to me, is that they reduce how often the foraging and fruit trees reset. Other than that, I don’t think it really matters very much.
just fought against a black bear with my fist alone…
then i remembered i had some steel knuckles and activated my hydraulic muscles for some steamy beatdown.
afterwards i robusted an hostile npc that had a glock using 8 brawling and 6 unarmed with 5 dodging and 5 melee skills.
its like im a kenshiro in cataclysm…wearing an armoured leather jacket, full alloy plating cbm, hydraulic muscles and all that can offer bonus to melee cmb wise, including the ever so welcome hydraulic muscles, that cbm that raised str and the one that helped at dodging
