As the last days of Autumn wind down, Ronson has decided that driving around, looking for labs, is a terrible hassle. Instead, he’s decided to take advantage of the large river outside of Lakeside Manor and explore via boat.
His first attempt at a boat worked well enough, but it was pretty minimal. Lakeside Manor sits between two bridges, so he spent a lot of time dragging the boat around. He then rebuilt the boat as a minimalist folding canoe: two folding seats for him and Danielle, and an engine compartment with a folding wire basket that usually held a folding motorcycle.
That was sufficient for him to explore far to the south and discover a fungal bloom in the swamp, which he destroyed. The boat was pretty flimsy, and using it was always an adventure because hitting a sunken zombie at 30 mph tended to wreck it, but it opened up some options.
To the north, past the bridge, was a very large lake/river system. Ronson decided to build a proper patrol boat with armor plating and shredders and a turret. He loaded up his APC with parts, drove up to the northern lake, and spent the better part of a week assembling a new boat.
The patrol boat was pretty useful, with enough storage space for both folding vehicles and more. Shredders and military composite armor meant that hitting fish at 40 mph (it’s much faster than that, but he keeps the speed down) is no longer a problem. He managed to find an abandoned farm, hidden in a forest on the side of the lake, and recover a bunch of tomatoes to supplement his stocks.
He’s also found a few new towns, but exploring them is nearly impossible. Any fight brings involves multiple hulks, corrosive zombies, and often multiple necromancers. He’s going to have to come back in his power armor to clear all that out without dying. His winter survivor gear just doesn’t cut it.
So that’s Ronson, after 274 days in the post apocalypse. He’s found 3 or 4 vaults and 1 lab, which is ridiculous.
