What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Chezzo is hosting the wiki, and the itemlist I believe.

Back to lawn dart practice. Trying to become the post apocalyptic champion! 16 cut dmg? Yes pls. Now I just need a bandoleer for them .

It’s like being a kid again with more fun targets that some circle in the yard.

can they fit into a bandolier?

perhaps a throwing weapon bandolier is in order …

Well. I just found a (basic) power armour helmet in the barracks of the lab I am currently exploring. Alongside copious ammo of many kinds. Unless things have changed since I last played, PA helmets are rare as hell, right? Really enjoying exploring this one. Might even get to the bottom and do my first lab finale. No idea what that involves, and please don’t spoil it for me. I’d kind of like to experience that bit myself. Even if losing this survivor is going to be really painful if it happens.

Almost any military-related thing can spawn in the barracks armory - the really cool stuff (like PA helmets and A7s) are ultra-rare, of course, but they happen.

Got to the end of the lab. It was a bionics storage. I now have time dilation, cloaking, repair nanobots, nightvision, and andrenaline pump and a few other goodies. Haven’t installed the time dilation yet, but all the others are in. Not a bad haul at all, and much easier to get to that I thought it would be. Only had to shoot my way past a Secubot who was stumbling around blind. I didn’t even get shot at…

Roughly half a year since I stopped playing for generally no reason at all. Well, aside from being busy with stuff plus being busy with physical therapy. Time to get cracking on playing again.

Need to get used to controls again.

On my most recent lab finale, I opened the door to the finale, saw 4 secubots, and immediately closed the door again. Then I used my control laptop twice, heard some explosions, and couldn’t find any more hostile robots on the control laptop. I opened the door again and found out there had been a secubot shoot-out: my two hacked versus the unhacked, and at some point one of the bots had exploded and the resulting chain reaction took out two others, leaving one friendly bot left.

Now, four or five months later, I’m left scouring the world, looking for another lab.

As the last days of Autumn wind down, Ronson has decided that driving around, looking for labs, is a terrible hassle. Instead, he’s decided to take advantage of the large river outside of Lakeside Manor and explore via boat.

His first attempt at a boat worked well enough, but it was pretty minimal. Lakeside Manor sits between two bridges, so he spent a lot of time dragging the boat around. He then rebuilt the boat as a minimalist folding canoe: two folding seats for him and Danielle, and an engine compartment with a folding wire basket that usually held a folding motorcycle.

That was sufficient for him to explore far to the south and discover a fungal bloom in the swamp, which he destroyed. The boat was pretty flimsy, and using it was always an adventure because hitting a sunken zombie at 30 mph tended to wreck it, but it opened up some options.

To the north, past the bridge, was a very large lake/river system. Ronson decided to build a proper patrol boat with armor plating and shredders and a turret. He loaded up his APC with parts, drove up to the northern lake, and spent the better part of a week assembling a new boat.

The patrol boat was pretty useful, with enough storage space for both folding vehicles and more. Shredders and military composite armor meant that hitting fish at 40 mph (it’s much faster than that, but he keeps the speed down) is no longer a problem. He managed to find an abandoned farm, hidden in a forest on the side of the lake, and recover a bunch of tomatoes to supplement his stocks.

He’s also found a few new towns, but exploring them is nearly impossible. Any fight brings involves multiple hulks, corrosive zombies, and often multiple necromancers. He’s going to have to come back in his power armor to clear all that out without dying. His winter survivor gear just doesn’t cut it.

So that’s Ronson, after 274 days in the post apocalypse. He’s found 3 or 4 vaults and 1 lab, which is ridiculous.

My poor survivor has done many things since my last update, but right now he is sitting in his LMOE shelter with both legs broken and the rest of his body only intact thanks to his nano repair bots.

I tried clearing a small town since it had been some time since I last did so. Everything was going swimmingly until something started making the zombies attack a building. Still not sure what. Anyway, the noise the zombies made attracted more zombies, then more, and more, and so on until a humongous horde was around. I tried whittling it down with arrows, and killed many, but without being able to close and recover my arrows, I eventually ran out (I carry about 100 arrows with me at all times. I used ALL of them, with a kill every 2-3 arrows on average). I tried to butcher some of the more spread out zombies, but more kept arriving. Eventually, I was forced to retreat with perhaps only a dozen Zeds properly put down when a pair of necromancers and a master zombie arrived on scene, and started reanimating those parts of the horde I had already put down. Then they turned one of them into a hulk.

I managed to kill the hulk, but by then the horde was upon me. I then spent about 6 key presses, during which I took a ton of damage and took about one action for every 20 the zombies got due to pain from my wounds. Thankfully, I was in brawling style and thus managed to kill most of my pursuers whilst I was unable to control my character, and eventually I managed to limp away to my bike, and get out of there.

So yeah. Not heading back to that one until I can rely on my legs not breaking.

One word

Molotovs

oh gosh yes. mollies all the way.

and a few nail bombs to clear out where you can’t risk fire

Combat is either more painful than i remember or im rusty.

3 deaths. this guy found a running car in a garage

Never really got into crafting explosives. I might have to look into it now. Attempting to go and explore a different town (well, school outside of town) had a similar limping-back-to-base-half-broken result due to zombies shooting guns at me. Never encountered those before, but it feels very unfair. How am I meant to counterattack a gun shot?

Seriously considering just crafting myself a full set of heavy survivor armour. I have the skills, but put off doing so before now for fear of making the game too easy. But I really don’t want to lose this character…

losing is fun, bro

for my own, i looted a machete, stole an awl pike, got some medieval helm, and found a turret post. i rammed both turrets at about 132 kph and stole a cop car. on day03, i woke up, drank my several boozes, and looked at the world through.my binoculars.

too easy guys, too easy

Just started playing again after taking a long vacation from the game. Currently my survivors world revolves around finding a bloody hacksaw… Grrrrrrrr…

Man, I feel super rusty at this. Dying several times in a row. Shady zombies are fast becoming a bane on my existence. Like, I don’t remember having much trouble with them before, but now it seems that I encounter one I end up getting mobbed by five more.

night vision for monsters has been fixed

Medieval peasant: the easy mode!

Spawned in the middle of forest, knife spear in first hour.

Yeah, shady zombies can see you just fine now - before, they were basically blind and had to find you by sound/smell.

Personally, I think that fit them better, but whatever…

So, shady zombies have night vision?

In general, for me, a single one isn’t a problem. On the other hand, it seems that if I encounter one several more pop into vision the moment I finish taking care of the first shady. I generally assumed that the shady zombies spawn in packs, but I guess it’s due to the shady zombie having night vision and seeing my survivor from across the street.
