What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

city of the damned. if you thought zombies were bad… FUNGUS ZOMBIES

ach, just died from some extreme radiation poisoning from rolling around in the toxic waste dump trying to get super powers. he was a really good character too, great driver, great mechanic, great archer, great gunfighter… another lesson learned i suppose

We finally finished our Battlebus, the Otto Von Busmark. It took us about an ingame year to find all the parts, learn the skills and fix the tiny details. The bus was originally a school bus we found at a regional school and then drove back to our shelter. As we noticed the world doesn’t have much gasoline in it we went for solar power with gasoline as a backup. Originally the bus had a V8 engine running it, but we swapped that for the lighter V6 after seeing the terrifying power it was outputting.

The safe speed is actually around 80 mph. We did some testing, and the bus can stand quite a bit of gunfire as well as ramming through a science lab at 70 mph. The current weaknesses are the windows which can’t currently be made reinforced, as well as the lack of proper heating for the driver’s seat.

May I suggest moving the engines inside? No need to have them take the brunt of the damage.

A fantastic idea! That seemed like the logical place to plant an engine. I’ll tell the chief mechanic we’ll have to do some re-designing. Interestingly, the engine suffered no damage so far in any of the collisions.

Okay, triggering that Resonance Cascade may have been a mistake.

At least, I think that’s what caused it - that or the otherworldly critters I was fighting. I haven’t eaten any mushrooms, but I’ve had Magic Mushroom effect show up twice in Blood Analysis, and purged it with Blood Filter. Possibly a Teleglow effect?

So, I notice a Cave randomly sitting on the very edge of a town. I figure I might as well do some exploration when I got this prompt:

Well, that seems odd. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get back out. What the hell, I’ll save just in case and go boldly forth!

…Really?

I felt no shame save scumming that (which I needed to do for the first screenshot anyway). I did not expect to find a huge lake of lava 1 z level under a town.

You use 30ft ropes to make a way up and down on drops, well, not ones like that I guess.

Oh, and dont be afraid to slap a few more electric engines/solar panels/batteries into your bus. Ive got a solar Ute I made with about 10 bats and 3 engines, ive never been able to get it below 85% even driving all night and the thing flys when you put the foot down.

Threw sledgehammer at the hulk, 1HKO’d him.
Thor powers, beatch.

NPC no! Put the shotgun awa-

What’s all those a’s?

Probably giant/soldier ants. That PC is about to have a very bad day.

I’m having a bad day, too. I’m an archer and two houses I want to loot are occupied by a skeleton each.

I guess it’s time to train some melee…

I hope you got some drugs on you, those soldiers ants are faaaaaast.

For the skeleton, no need to train anything, drop your backpacks, grab a stick and beat it on a window.

I actually managed to survive the ants. There was a small gap between clusters of them where only a few noticed me at a time, and I was wielding a wood axe. Still, there is a note on my map that says “ANTS” up there, and I do not plan to return for a while.

I think the critters get unloaded back into the population pool if you go far enough, so it should be safe.

Apparently, using a teleporter to avoid a collision while on a moving vehicle can be quite hazardous to your well being.

Like in, you teleport between the vehicle and the wall and get turned into a waffle.

Coffee is a good thing to keep around in a water skin when you are exploring, if you ever get in trouble just drink some and you’re good to get away from any zombie that you’re not ready for.

I’ve done that one before. I think around 90% of my uses of a teleporter have put me into an equally bad or worse situation, in the few cases it had a (relatively) positive result, my day was promptly ruined by teleglow.

In one case I had been experimenting with teleporters for awhile when a large mob of angry fungals and ants jumped me, I teleported away from them, took a few steps, got teleported back into the horde, then started hallucinating…

Teleglow, ho! I haven’t played much with teleporters, but the one time I did was in a lab I got stuck in the Mi-Go container and I just teleported myself back out.

I haven’t actaully played in a while, but my last game ended in tears. The umpteenth reincarnation of Dust Strangelander had made his final stand against a horde of zombies with just his trusty sniper rifle/shotgun/crossbow/spear and he was doing great until I forgot you can’t throw molotovs over zombies. Sadness ensued.
