What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

been playing for a while and was cruising around when i found my first semi!

… in the dead centre of a swamp surrounded by evil.

Re broken leg: You could luck out with a Hospital too.

Armed with a gas-mask for once, a baseball bat, kevlar vest (courtesy of Mr Dead Living Dead), and a bunch of other military-grade armor, Sir Lancelot started “Operation: Die, Die, Die!”. More than two hundred zombies fell under his blad- bat, before the town was finally cleansed of its undead inhabitants.

The newly captured town was renamed to Camelot, from where cleansing operations would begin to rid the cities close-by of their happy zombies as well. First, Sir Lancelot has to deal with the god-darned dozens of wolves, bears, and cougars that are suddenly interested in residing at Camelot. And the nearby wandering, world-blackening NPCs.

I had gained the Long Talons mutation, which is slow death. Despite it being spring, the nighttime temps were a stubborn 51F, and because the mutation prevented me from wearing gloves, I was dying of sleep deprivation. The only way I could sleep for more than a minute was to light a fire, go to sleep immediately, and then wake up an hour later when it went out. After a very restless night, it began to rain. After a day of thunderstorms, I loaded some wood onto the Lootcycle and drove to a cave to huddle around an underground fire while it rained for two frigging days in a row.
On the fourth day, I went back home and discovered some bottles of Purifier in the kitchen. After rolling back the mutation, I made a pair of fur gloves, built a bed in some dead guy’s office, and slept for 24 hours. It felt so good!
In the morning, I’ll raid another !science! lab for more mutagen.

Alright, not doing too bad. Currently buzzing around in a’ 'lectric car which I’ve added a bit to. Also It seems I’ve made it to 10 dodge, what now beeches~~

Also my inventory.

Sir Lancelot, in a valiant attempt to liberate a second town, went to the dark, and dangerous caverns (Read: sewers) where he had to fight soldier ants, sewer snakes and rats for a good 24 map tiles before realizing the route he took was a dead end. Cue another 24 map tile travel to get back to the surface, where he proceeded overground to the undead town.

The zombies there were pleased to meet him, and managed to overwhelm him. Hence, he had to cut the tactical sweeping short and retreat back to his temporary castle (Read: boarded up public works building).

Did I mention he also got mauled by a bear along the way? The bear was also pleased to know him… intimately. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have tried to rip the clothes off of Sir Lancelot. :stuck_out_tongue:

I decided to see what being a traveler was like, usually I am a hoarder, this is my story so far:

Started out fairly normal, raided a town the the basics and I managed to stumble on a Gun store. AK-47, 120~ rounds and a glock 50 rounds. Needless to say I took the damn AK. I went to a mil.Surp and got bags, vests, MRE’s, water and some binocs.

Well now I had every thing I needed to GTFO, so I began walking north, taking out every Z that came close. Turns out the town I was in was a city and, while moving north, I found gun store after gun store after gunstore… 500 or so rounds for my Trusty Ruskie.

Then I spotted a Gas station, I thought “Hey dude, go get some gas for when you find a car”. So I get there with two plastic bottles when I find outside …a perfect condition motorbike, with 1% fuel. YES RNG! I SHALL SERVE YOU WELL!

I do a teeny bit more looting of another Mil.surp and leave north on my Fully loaded bike.
One single road leading north in a winding fashion, laden with gas stations and farms. I sleep in a parked car.

I awake to an F wandering outside. Well I blow it’s freaking chest out and continue north when I find a pile of bodies…Military bodies…

No guns and only 2 cards but I take them, their food and a gasmask, and continue north. Then, there in the distance I see a B…
I shoot the nearby turrets and swipe my way in.

The first chamber, empty
The opposite chamber, empty
The second chamber, empty
The opposite chamber, empty
The third chamber, empty

Within the last chamber, barely lit by my torch, lies a M320 grenade launcher among other items. RNG HAS PROVIDED!
I find M320 GL, 4 concussion grenades, 4 Frags, 8 incendiaries and I leave.

F F o F o o o o F o F o F o o F o F o o F
RNG, THINE CHALLENGE IS ACCEPTED!
%%%%%%%%%%

And then I went north.

At another kink in the road, see an opening in the trees that makes it look like a giant natural funnel. At the end of said funnel is an Fungal Bloom.
RNG, THINE DESIRE IS KNOWN!

So began the battle that would later be known as The Test of Gasoline Gully. The battle raged long into the afternoon and at sunset the Bloom fell. In one final attempt at the destroyer, the F mounted a massive counter attack that spawned more o’s than I could fight off. I headed to a nearby Gas station, and promptly set it alight. This held them for a moment but was ultimately fruitless, they just kept coming. I moved further along the road, using a flashlight when my headlight broke, setting each gas station alight as the night went on.

Batteries where running low and so were gas stations, but the swarm had been destroyed. By Incendiaries, 7.62, machete and gas station sacrifices, RNG’s quest was completed. I rested in a totaled car.

When dawn arrived I was shown my reward. No less than 5 labs in the nearby area. I am still working on the second with another test awaiting me outside. Worms…

And this is why I’m constantly after Shoes: Long Talons make Unarmed endgame-worthy, but the frickin’ temperature-tracking and bassackwards blanket-use* makes them unplayable. >:( You could theoretically sleep during the day, but that’s an extremely inelegant workaround.

*Just check all the stuff on the tile and assume the PC puts it on top/underneath/around as needed. Don’t faff around with requiring that players Wear blankets, etc. Micromanagement is Bad.
I got pissed off an reset my world.
New world seems decent enough, Diego, my new NPC “friend” and I only had to venture 50 feet out of the shelter before we came across what seems to be the crash sight of two helicopters.
5 guns, army gear, two plutonium cells (which I do not know a use for) and minor random stuff.
Not sure what to do to be honest. reset again?
Plutonium cells recharge some high-end Science! gear and can be crafted into fusion packs for energy guns. If you have a nuclear-powered car, they’ll refuel it. So, hang onto the things.

SCENE I: The EVAC SHELTER
<enter: Melanie Rogers, and Survivor>

Melanie: "Oh I’m so ill, please get me some antibiotics or I will die for sure!"
Survivor: "Mkay, gimme some gear"
Melanie: “Oh wait, I see a bear! I must rush out of this shelter and go hug it!”

<exit: Melanie Rogers’ corpse, enter: a frigging bear>
Survivor: "I should change my name"
Bear: “nomnomnom”

shortest game ever, didn’t get to see a single Z

Went to sleep in a toxic waste dump.

Woke up the next morning as Shark Man! I have webbed hands and a tail fin and I’m carnivorous. Now I just need to find some gills.

EDIT: I forgot to mention Shark Man is asthmatic, addicted to cocaine, wears a suit, and drives a bug

That killed me once. Though being herbivore is MUCH MUCH worse, but driving through a fungal infected area + wanting to eat some royal jelly afterwards, just to gain that mutation a few turns ago = DA FUQ! GAME??? WHY??? My purifier and more mutagens got rid of everything else and got back most, but carnivore stayed. Of course, no blood filter CBM around aswell.

Still got to try if those ‘DNA thingies’ in hospitals can get rid of fungal infection.

Just found a Bunker that was seriously stocked with explosives.

8x C-4
4x Dynamite
6x Teargas Canister
8x Smoke Bomb
7x Grenade
4x Flashbang
4x EMP Grenade

Only opened two rooms inside. First room contained most of it. Second room was only three items. Time for some fun.

Cataclysm, the only game I know of where one can successfully throw cans of beans at zombies…and do damage. Fuck yeah, take that! The hammer I threw missed y’see…

Try throwing vomit and socks, in DF

<The spinning vomit strikes the zombie in the head, smashing the skull through the brain>

Found a cookbook in a fridge. Laughed my ass off.

I’m just starting to board up this old farmhouse, but i’m living off the land (picking berries and such) for food. I’ll need to start venturing out soon, lest I starve to death. I’m pretty well equipped otherwise; a G19 (no ammo) and several tools. If I can get a steady source of food, I think i’ll be able to stop scrounging and start practicing skills.

Found an Under the Hood in one the other day. Still waiting for the broken-lawnmower-in-a-bed though.

Made my base in the basement of a cathedral. I feel so protected :D. Not from influenza though. Thinking of picking a fight with a brute. Just how long it takes to get over the flu?

Just made a simple flamethrower, decided to test it out. I burned my feet and legs trying to roast a wolf spider. Decided I didn’t care, now I’m currently using my flamethrower pointblank because why not. Let’s see how long it takes before I die.

Edit: Just found a thermal dissipation bionic, and I can carry a steel jerrycan of gas with me if I don’t carry my nailgun/survival tools. Stuff’s gonna get fun.
