I took my guy, copied the save, and imported him from my 75meg static world to a new dynamic world. Being the first time playing dynamic, I had (and still don’t) know what the rules are. On top of that, I modded my monster groups json to make hulks are often-occuring as regular specials. To date, he’s got 650 regular zed kills, averages 120 for each special, and has 99 hulk kills. Heck, here’s a crosslink to my guy. http://www.cataclysmdda.com/smf/index.php?topic=1335.0
I thought, “Well, fortifying this church looks like a good plan. It has stone walls and I can probably install a garage door, plus it has plenty of wood!” So I got the biggest gun I had, the M249+++, 400+2+1, a couple hundred extra rounds, 40mm grenades… Flicked on the hydraulic muscles and began using it’s full auto.
The biggest horde I have ever seen came down on my head.
I ran back into the church, being chased by every monstrosity in the book. Hulks smashed down my walls in seconds. The spitters destroyed half my arsenal. Luckliy, I managed to make it to my sledge hammer and (modded) indestructible plate mail + great helm combo. I was getting punched in the face by literally by 4 hulks as I was putting my helmet on. Good thing for the wide swing of the sledge hammer. I cleared them out. I’m at the church now, catching my breath. I’m going to try to keep the church, but I think I’m going to add Howler to keep things interesting.
Dynamic spawn: you’ve got about 90 minutes from game start before anything spawns; site-specific stuff like the kids at Parks or a School will be present, though. After that, zeds move around in small-to-middling groups, with additional groups spawning in every so often. Making loud noise not only attracts existing critters, but also can speed up/beef up the next spawn wave. Firing the M249, incidentally, easily qualifies as a Loud! noise. Sledgehammers would be far quieter.
(In case you wondered why Howler was such a bad thing…Dynamic Spawn is why. You shan’t be too lonely.)
Dynamically spawned critters come from a set pool and despawn back into the pool once you get far enough away, so it’s technically possible to clear out an area under Dynamic. You’re just gonna be a while at it; I recall hearing pool sizes of 7000+ thrown around but don’t have much context for that.
Here’s hoping you enjoyed the workout, and feel free to stick around.
I’ve been exploring a couple waste sarcophaguses sarcophagi for misc. stuff. The first time I quickly found out that they are HIGHLY radioactive; I found a geiger counter in it and scanned myself for a total of 482 rads. I also quickly put on a hazmat suit right after, as well.
I grabbed a total of about 100 aspirin from that single sarcophagus. I also found some cans of soda and a few flashlights and radios, whose batteries I stole.
A second sarcophagus yielded crates with stuff in them (I didn’t have my crowbar), a few more hazmat suits, a gas mask which I also quickly put on, and some more radios and flashlights. A few bits of bubblewrap were also in the desks.
Whilst walking from the second sarcophagus, it starts dropping an Acidic Drizzle on me. I hope I can get back to my house base before it gets worse.
Spring Day 1, 8:00: Took stock of my surroundings. Evac Shelter surrounded on 3 sides by river. At least water will be easy to find.
Spring Day 1, 8:12: Located the remains of a military patrol SE of Evac shelter, acquired significant load bearing gear, and a USP. Now I just need ammo.
Spring Day 1, 8:32: Located the remains of rival drug cartels. Able to acquire significant medical supplies. The leader of one gang also holds a katana.
Just started a new 0.5 game, went into town and saw a group of survivors firing at the biggest horde I’ve seen, Walking dead style. There was also an abandoned storefront ablaze.
For this warm summer evening’s entertainment: Copbot Bumble Rumble!
With special guest: Tripod Robot
Please hold your applause and looting for the end of the evening, and don’t block the light projector, you don’t want to be the star…
Corey Toledo: “Eyebot, I’d like an order of fries, but hold the shake, I’ve had enough giant worms and graboids for the moment.”
This is my first post on this forum, just wanted to say hello. Now onto the proper post:
I’ve used to take 24 points to distribute on character creation. My every playthrough was filled with fail and misery.
And then, yesterday, I have made a character with only 6 points. This is what happened:
I left the starting shelter with nothing. Good start I say. There were no worms at least.
I went to town, explored the suburbs, got myself a bow and lots of wooden arrows. And then…
[shadow=black,right]WILD ZOMBIE HULK APPEARS[/shadow]
I ran in a random direction and got to the forest. That pile of meat was still chasing me. That thing had trouble with bushes and small trees, and this is where I took my bow out. I had ~150 wooden arrows on me.
Out of arrows. Examined that monstrosity: “This abomination is nearly kill”. I’ve picked up random heavy stick, threw it at him and he died.
Also, this is my most succesful character so far and still going.
Piotraper, that’s great! Lol. Zombie Hulks, amongst other situations, are the main reasons I place the crafting of Molotov cocktails as one of my highest priorities. A few cocktails make short work of hulks, and every other zombie/animal out there.
Which leads to what’s been going on in my current game. Have a character with the hardcore trait. As you can imagine, seeing a Zombie Brute come around a corner in a doctor’s office is scary as crap. He was not far away from me. When I lit the Molotov, there was only one empty tile between us. So I lobbed it at the Brute and lit his pain in the butt on fire. Nothing like pyrotechnics to the rescue. However… I had to make a quick escape as that caught the entire doctor’s office on fire. For extra measure, there were a few adjacent buildings which caught fire as well. So I had to circle my way around the buildings going up in flames while picking off poor little zombies (of various colors) with my Ruger Redhawk in the middle of the night. Nearly had a zombie dog chew off a leg (1/2 bar left). Was a pretty tense battle but survived. Haha, take that zombies!

Been trying to make a car (keyword: trying) but keep getting mauled by wolf spiders -.-. Luckily I am able to kill them :D. I also have a question if I have a 3.56 Liter V6 Engine installed on my car and I want to add a footcrank, what does My machanics skill have to be? Currently machanics 7 but still can’t install the footcrank so what lvl does it have to be?
Everything seemed fine, until I started vomiting up live spores and fungus stalks came up through my hands, breaking both of my arms.
Also, 92 pain. That was pretty crippling. My meth only lasted me down the road before a cougar finished me off.
