What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Yep; already found the place I’d need to change. All I need to do is get some time to work out the compiler.

Apart from that, the 08May version was certainly interesting. I’d hold that the Office Tower wasn’t worth much and Schools immediately on the riverbank, especially with dynamic spawn, aren’t that great either. The new recipes are pretty good, as are the new books (though the Mansion library was a bit fiction-heavy).

How exactly does a Furniture Store benefit the player? I’d love to get an Armchair or a Sofa for my base (and they ought to be comfy for sleeping purposes, hint) but I haven’t yet been able to move any furniture, let alone get it onto a vehicle or push it across town.
Schools can actually be rather handy assuming you can eat the kid killing morale drop. There is usually some food and occasionally some skill books. Worst case scenario, there are lots of escape points and tons of flammable material.

Furniture stores seem rather useless. I found one and immediately used it as a zombie bonfire.
I think eventually you could push a sofa or armchair or something into a truck or something with sufficient space, but until then, firestarters and 2X4’s.

Found my first Hazmat bots and…

They killed me.

Furniture stores also have the occasional hammer/tool in the corners.

Started a new game with the latest build, first town was packed with zeds, circled around and found another town with some empty outskirts. now i’m again packed to bursting with all the junk i found. I seriously need help  just how to leave anything behind?

LE : 75 items limit is giving me headaches
I WANT EVERYTHING (had a game where i collected even the empty plastic bags and paper wrappers FYI)

Paper wrappers can be used to start fires.
I leave no weapons behind. :F

Plastic bags seem a bit OCD though, since I’ve yet to find a use for them. Maybe we should be able to have a crafting recipe like so:
Plastic bag + Superglue.

paper wrappers used to be really deadly throwing weapons at one point

Well, at first I got a superspawn, other than that I set my cottage on fire, but nevermind. I suspect those fungus bastards are migrating towards me, so I’ll have to use gunpowder on natives. Had the longest fight (three hours or so) with the undead surrounding some apartments.
What stunned me was seeing a shelter very close to the populace. I’m pretty sure that one could’ve ended badly.
Five thumbs up for those Public Works people!
[…]I’ve yet to find a use for [plastic bags]
If you find a (fairly rare) vacuum sealer, you can use it to make permafood variants of meat, veggies, or apples.

Was raiding a FEMA camp and throwing C4 around to thin out the hoard wheeeeeeeeeeeeeen… I didn’t realize I had activated another block of it, finally noticed it on the final tick when I tried to throw it at an approaching hulk.

To avoid this problem, I always set the timer to 1 and throw it immediately, don’t do this is there’s anything next to you though, as you may get stunned before you get the chance.
Also, I rarely throw them directly at an enemy, usually one tile away aiming at some other enemies.
Note, the explosion radius of a C4 is 3 tiles, so if you throw it 4 tiles away you’ll be able to use it against enemies in melee range without it being a suicide technique (Shrapnel notwithstanding)…

I’m currently getting ready to roll out of my starting town with a lucky character, I’ve even got a trunk full of land mines ready to place since I’ve been using lots of traps.
Note: Don’t mess with land mines unless you have high dexterity and 6+ traps skill. Also, remember to take your gloves off, I lost about 90% hp in several limbs thanks to forgetting this, and I was very fortunate that I didn’t get caught in the face.

heh yea i remember there was an old quote from i believe yamgernade about paper wrappers being a war crime

I celebrated my graduation by making an avatar me…

He is now my base character. Long live his murder-all.

Look what I found today.

Wut…

It’s a reference to TheDarklingWolf, overlord and creator of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. It was actually removed from the game at one point IIRC, but somebody requested that it be added back in so it was put back in between .4 and .5. Wolf suits also make just about the best sleeping bags you can find since they are so warm.

Where did you find that?

Also currently hiding out in a school after burning all of the zombie children in a massive bonfire to keep from feeling bad. My current map doesn’t look too overly interesting, though it beats having triffid queens smashign through buildings and wrecking everything.

I built a mobile home off a a extended Flatbed truck. Put some extra Steel Frames on the front with steel plating as a battering ram. Figured I could ram my way through some of the car mess. The cars are like they are balls and bounce all over the place and like to start fires! :stuck_out_tongue:

So I decided to boot up another 0.5 world and interestingly enough I spawned a bit aways from a beehive. Ironically there were some dead soldiers nearby the huge beehive with rocket launchers, food, clean water, and alot more. So its a nice start for me so far. Eventually, I’ll have to come back and steal some honeycombs from those bees.

Huh. Science Lab as an actual part of town, with beehive not to far off…yeah, I’d take that map on Dynamic. Nice find.

Re wolfsuits: do fur suits typically contain 0% fur? Found one, looked it up in the code, and was surprised to find that the only material involved was cotton.

I believe DarklingWolf’s twitter page explains the wolf suit.

Between PETA and the cost of synthetic fibers, I’m surprised it isn’t made of poly (plastic).
