What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Decided to do some renovation on my farmhouse base. I had it all planned out. I would link the small barn next to the house and the house with some wooden walls, making a door from the kitchen.

I had everything I needed…except a jackhammer.

I can’t be foiled by such a small detail though. I laid a short trail of splintered wood that ended in a single round of .45 ACP next to where I wanted the door, between the house and the barn.

The BIG Book of FUN

I’ve driven so far the map can’t show all the places I’ve been to anymore. The Marauder took serious damage in one town when I suddenly turned right and drove through a building. It was a deliberate turn, but I wasn’t intending to do that. I was sure a bend in the road was coming up, but then it wasn’t there. Tiredness, I guess.

It was a long time before I saw another town. I drove through an infestation of triffids, crushing several queens who had set up shop on the road. Their bushes tore up the Marauder quite a bit. After that I drove across a bridge, over a river lined by swamps. All sorts of nasty things fell beneath the wheels of my deathwagon. It turns out windscreens aren’t so resiliant against giant bugs. Who would have guessed?

Beyond that was a town with a garage, so I decided to stop for repairs. I ran down most of the zombies and then holed up for a while. The Marauder was more busted up than I thought, so I ended up dismantling it completely and rebuilt it into a smaller car - the Phoenix. I thought the ability to squeeze through smaller spaces would be an asset. I was right, although I’m skipping ahead.

Gas became a problem at this point. I filled the car up from my jerry can, but the town had no gas station or hardware store. Fortunately, it wasn’t much of a drive to get to the next town. There was gas in the town centre and I decided to clear it out myself. I didn’t feel like patching up the car again so soon.

We drove onward again, travelling across the most inefficient bridge I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t so much crossing the river, as following it. We touched land briefly before using another bridge, but I had a scare when it turned out this bridge didn’t connect to the shore at the other end. I don’t know what happens if you drive into a river, but I didn’t want to test it out right then. I backed up and went around.

The next problem I encountered was an end to the northbound road. The new east/west road seemed quite long, and the one direction I tried turned out to be a dead end. You know what that means: shortcut! There was a gap in the forest to the north and I decided to follow it. It was smooth sailing for the most part. I passed a triffid grove, but got pretty far north before the forest closed up again. I was surrounded by triffids and faced a huge detour if I went back.

This is where the Phoenix’s smaller size came in handy. The forest thinned out a bit to the left, and I could see another road on the other side. I don’t know how I manuevered so well but I managed to weave between the big trees without once getting stuck. The main problem was that half of my windows were broken, and the car wouldn’t protect me if I had to sleep out in the open.

The new road turned to the north again and I came across a town with four garages. It also had a major fungal infection in addition to the usual zombie horde. I came under attack numerous times while making my emergency repairs. There were running battles as I collected all the glass and some more batteries to power the welder. The only part I’m lacking is a replacement solar panel to charge the battery for the kitchen unit. Not one of the four garages had one. I don’t know how rare they’re supposed to be, but previously I’d only stumbled across one garage without one.

Soon it was time to move on once more. I had to drive across country again but found another north road after a short westward diversion. And that’s where I am right now. Another town is coming up, but I don’t know what it holds just yet. I’m kinda getting bored, but this is the first character to survive beyond the first spring and he’s almost reached his second year. It would be a shame to force his demise. I’m hoping for something to go horribly wrong though so he can get the send off he deserves.

Got lucky using my teleport bionic and got inside a bank vault with none other than what I have been looking for a Plasma Engine, thing is zombies have broke in the rest of the place setting off alarms and there is probably all kinds of robots swarming outside as well as a swarm of over 9000 (million) Z’s…
My melee skills are not great reasonable but not great and since I have to carry the engine as it won’t fit in a bag I will probably be slowed down and unable to shoot…
I sense Fun heading my way later.

Grab Engine
Teleport
Drop Engine
Kill all the Zeds
Profits!

Found a car and a couple of garages and military surpluses (up until now I had seen none with this char then suddenly 5 of them in one town…well it’s more of city than town by size) dumped everything into the car drove off rammed into some gas pumps and surprisingly didn’t explode. just gasoline everywhere waiting for the slightest spark to explode into a glorious raging fire of death.

started a new game with dynamic spawn, went to nearest (and only) town i could see on the map, directly to mil surplus where i found ABSOLUTELY nothing of use , except for a can of beens, same for the next 8 or so houses ( except for food and clothes, but no backpacks or good tools), then the zeds chased me out, and in the woods i found not 1, but 2 LMOE shelters close to each other, then a dead military patrol and a bunker nearby. When the game wants to troll you, he’s definitely good at it.

remember kids, don’t eat random mushrooms you find on the ground! you might start to see the reason you ran away. all those years ago…

I found a friendly ant colony who’s ant queen lay’s ant eggs for me to take infinitely. I suppose I wont have to worry about food anymore. As long as I don’t become a herbivore again.

You get Insect Pheromones? That mutation is great. Of course, you could also murder everything, you will have a mighty amount of food.

Or you could go into a beehive (you’ll have to take care of the scarred zombies still). Honey doesn’t spoil and is quite nutritious and enjoyable.

I demonstrated SCIENCE to my side kick by killing a brute with a sewing kit using the time dilation bionic. In appreciation for the show, he immediately shot at dinner… and blew a hole in my chest.

That’s what I get for getting an npc pet.

experimented with burning things…who knew molotovs and gas pumps were incompatible?

Just started a new game. I’ve never seen a town like this before:

The evac shelter is right in among the houses. I like quirky locations like this because it makes it more fun to stick around and treat it like home. I think I’m going to call it Snaketown.

I killed a starting NPC and got a fusion blaster arm, finger laser, blood filter, trench coat, remmington, and a military rucksack off of his corpse.

Friggin NPC was ready for the apocalypse @_@

if you think thats impressive wait until you kill one with three mininukes and a box worth of molotovs and no clothes

All of this is the best thing.

The turrets stationed outside the military bunker (visible on the image I posted a short time ago) have been slowly hopping their way down towards the town. I now have to be careful not to head east or they’ll open fire. Despite this, things are going well. I have plenty of food and water and I’ve been practicing some skills - mostly survival and electronics.

Just get a truck and run them all over. Smash it into the bunker for good measure (and loot).

I finally started my amish character, Zachary Turner ( yeah, random generated name:D). He’s not allowed to use any drugs, except for poppy flowers extracts and first aids and bandages, and iodine in case of extreme necessity. Weapon are to be used only against wild life, both natural or mutated, and no automatics or high tech weapons. Zeds are to be avoided, or if not possible use tools as weapons, only to defend. ( like hammers, wood axes, crowbars, you get the drift, non-specialized weapons). Cars are off limit, same any electric tools beyond flashlights. Lightstrips are a luxury too :). Out-world creatures are considered demons, and are to be dispatched by any means possible.
No alcohol, no junk food, no ciggies.
I got lucky and i found a cabin in the woods. No close water sources though, except for a mansion quite a distance away. The mansion also has a portal inside. Hit some jackpots with some dead military patrol and a few out-of-town houses. Weird thing, zeds spawned quite a long distance from the town and gave me a chase along the fields. Also cleared a rat infested cave near my cabin, killed the rat king while he kept swearing at me (strangely he didn’t attack me at all, even while chopping him apart.

Just get a truck and run them all over. Smash it into the bunker for good measure (and loot).
So far I’ve only found a scooter. Not sure if that’s good enough, but I might try it later if I’m feeling brave. Or I could just keep practicing my skills until I can make EMP grenades. :stuck_out_tongue:
