What's Happening in YOUR Randomly-generated Apocalypse?

Decided to loot a lab, torn between playing a spider or a lizardman but decided on spider for the Chitinous Plate mutation. I return to the surface to discover a horde has moved in on me while i was in the lab.

Pop: 580.

Guess I’m gonna be looting some lab armories.

EDIT: So I went with a different option when I discovered a “zombie pheromone” object. Popped it, went running out the door and escaped-- only to discover I left all my precious things back at the lab. Mainly lots of guns, ammo, and food.

Fuck.

Note: not playing hordes yet.

I reached the library and got some books out, alas, nothing on mechanics or electronics. Had to fall back due to the night, but there’s another library close by.

Found some neat bionics while I was wandering around a town at night. Sadly I have no way to power them yet.

I also obtained two flasks of mutagen. Drinking them upgraded my Phelloderm mutation to Bark, and also gave me Less Sleep and Fey Eyes. I have no idea what Fey Eyes does, exactly, as the description for it is vague, but it’s a positive mutation so it can’t hurt to keep around, I guess.

 1. run inside house
 2. go to northwestern most corner
 3. spawn ear plugs
 4. spawn 20 NPC’s
 5. wait until dusk
 6. venture out into world

the ear plugs are so they cant talk to you… it can be a bother.
wait until dusk because the game runs mad slow with 20 npc’s in sight (upwards of 5 sec per turn just waiting)
on a side note, you can hear while deaf. at least while wearing ear plugs.
and also when NPC’s are around i sometimes get spammed with “You do not have that item.”

and do NPC’s go any farther than just out of sight? or do they stop updating there? kinda lame…

Playing the stable release, giant hordes of zombies I can’t get rid of are exactly what I don’t want from this game. Not in it for the zombies honestly.

As for what I’m actually doing, triffid groves spawned everywhere on my map for some reason. Ever town so far has at least one close to the edge, so my car is constantly chased by walking trees and walking tree generators. I’m starting to gather as much fire weaponry as I can to clear out one or two of them, but no luck on skill books or anything so no real flamethrower. I wonder how disastrous lighting everything on fire with dozens of Molotovs and the extremely safe and effective spraycan flamethrower will be.

I selected “Play Now” and got this character:

Stumbled upon one of those boarded up abandoned houses while following a random road in the middle of nowhere, probably a huge contrived coincidence of how the RNG works, but it was pretty cool, could stand being turned into a feature.

I just found out that imperial stout is not bottled fish, but rather alcohol, and downing the entire thing is not a Good Idea.

I DIDN’T KNOW

So, got a car up and running, then while at a gas station filling her up (It’s a girl) I kinda got her stuck between two pumps…

it probably has a basement, tear that shit up

No thats a different type of abandoned house…
So, got a car up and running, then while at a gas station filling her up (It’s a girl) I kinda got her stuck between two pumps…
Hint: go into the gas station, go to the refrigerators, grab whatever drinks are there. Empty whatever bottles or jugs are there by drinking the good ones and emptying the spoiled ones out onto the floor. Fill them at the gas pumps, then fill your car with the containers.

I started near an ant mount and everything was alright until I stayed safely in my place for like 2 days, just reading skill books. I then go out to loot coz I’m starting to run out of water and when I open the door… I’ve never seen so many ants, and they are all over the place. They attack me on sight so I’m trapped. I can deal with the normal ones but the soldier ants take forever to kill. D:

I think I have to leave my home and look for a new place. I just have to wait for acid rain and make a run for it soon afterwards.

yes, it is generally not advised to camp out near critter spawns like ant hills and swamps… they do populate the area rather quickly

Their nest is like really near… is there a queen or something there? I mean, can I stop them from spawning in the area?

huh… i seem to have made a moosey friend. i got too close and she attacked so i punched her in the nose a bit and she backed off. now she has been tracking and following me for a day or two. not attacking even when i get close. just chillin. probably likes the weed smoke.

and no i dont think you can exterminate the ants… but maybe, i wouldnt know

I got bored of staying cooped up in my safehouse, and playing with classic zombies set to true was getting stale, so I gathered up a massive group of zombies and led them to a gas station and blew it up! Now I can upgrade to the latest game version, and begin anew for more fun.

Kill the queen(s) and they’ll eventually stop spawning. The ones that are already spawned won’t despawn so you’ll have to deal with them yourself.

That’s nice to hear. I’m farming them for meat and chitin… lots of them. They don’t attack the barricades so maybe it’s not that bad.

Yeah if you manage to build a nice little fortress an anthill can be a nice thing to have around.
