can we have flare guns?
Resilient mofos also Flare Guns would be cool as a sort of way of seeing things
Launching a remote light source that attracts zombies would be pretty awesome; Might make mutating Night Vision higher and higher feel less mandatory?
and can act as a flame thrower.
and if we get it then we will need two kinds of flares. weapon launched and road.
Had the same thing happen to me lol. Just as i cleared a FEMA camp, the screen just got covered with giantworms, and when a big one dies two small ones spawn. was so depressing lol.
Early on I found a FEMA camp, second time that I even explored one. Being more stupid than brave I decide to explore as much as I could, using the fences to make zombies line up, leading them through the barbed wire repeatedly and such and manage to fend off enough zombies with my trusty metal bat that I can loot a little before running off. Now one of the zombie soldiers was actually carrying a little something commonly referred to as a GODDAMN MININUKE… Which I took, because hell, it’s the end of days, no time like now for doomsday weapons.
Much later, I had almost forgotten about carrying it around when I made the mistake of befriending an NPC for reasons of I didn’t knew the game much and didn’t know that NPCs are quite useless companions for now. Not having set his aggression to non roid-rage mode, he spotted a deer behind some bushes half a map away from the road we were walking on. Of course the reasonable thing to do was to run straight at it, firing his Desert Eagle wildly. Right next to a town. It took all of 10 turns before a spitter, two shriekers, a shocker and I guess 20 regular Zombies appeared. Of course I was very proud of my little companion buddy and immediately tried to let him reap the full benefit of his brilliance and tried running straight through the horde that was very content with swarming the screaming, wildly firing survivor over me.
Except he died really quickly and then I was their prime target and more zombies spawned in front of me, blocking me in.
Surrounded, the obvious choice was to look through my inventory for something Fun… and lo and behold, there she was, my mininuke. With activated nuke I started swinging my bat at the next best zombie, hoping to survive long enough to be swarmed and the nuke to go off.
Which it did, with probably a good dozen zombies all around me. Sad about a promising survivor, but it was a great way to end his excursions.
I’ve been experimenting with night raiding after playing the game off and on for over a year. Everything was going well, since I started with android and had shocking punches, I went along with it even though I only had a strength of 6. It went pretty well up until the point where a Cougar broke my glasses. Usually by this point I’d have found a crowbar in one of the hardware stores, or at least a pipe laying on the road, but I guess I’m going to have to blindly bust open windows to find one now.
Just burned down the fungal bloom spire that forced me to leave my starting shelter on day 1.
So very satisfying, standing there and smoking a cigar… admiring the great bonfire, hearing fungs go poof for their very last time.
Next up is the triffid grove. Still got plenty of molotov cocktails…god damn queens planting their forests on roads.
Good luck with the trifflids, they are about 100x more difficult to kill.
I have never successfully killed one. But from my ill fated attempts I can tell you this. You’ll want some explosives, lots of explosives, preferably the throwable or launchable kind. Fire is effective, but can slow you down as well, and you’ll want to move quickly. I hear you may also want a fully fueled jackhammer, possibly some extra fuel for it as well.
Turns out webs burn, didn’t know that. I had the web weaver perk and had been walking around in a cleared out town laying a straight line of web behind me. Didn’t know it burned so my fire i left unattended next to my web trail followed me to my base, I fell asleep with a gas mask on and woke up in my burning base the inferno of hell with ?five? Hulks outside.
Killed plenty of triffids, queens, vinebeats, etc. before and even managed to reach the grove fairly easily, but didnt dare entering at that time.
Now I’ve got ammo coming out my arse and I’m loaded with fusion rifles, 40mm grenades, molotovs, c4, mininukes, deployable turrets and of course with the most powerful weapon of them all: a vehicle.
Though I’ll probably just sneak in with my trusty SKS at night. Going full rambo only causes more enemies to show up.
That is amazing. You could use the webs as a fuse for some fiery trap designs.

Holy shit, my guy drank 20 bottles of water and one and a half cooked bears in a day!
I know, I actually measured it. It seems your character Modern Art has a Serious! problem.
OH MY.
Found a car today. Oh, man. So the fucking thing had two main problems- there wasn’t any driver’s seat, and it was completely out of gas. Okay, fine, I’ll use one of the other seats, no one’s going to sit in them anyway. Found a welder in the hardware store next door, but no hacksaw. Go home, get my hacksaw, fill my jerrycan with gasoline, get back, fill up the car, do the work, and then jump in and step on it, because I was being chased by everything. Starting to wonder if this car’s an asset or a deathtrap.
I have bionics, I just haven’t installed them. I have the temperature one, but there’s reports that it doesn’t work. I also have the air filter, but I have about a one in four chance of harming, possibly permanently crippling, myself, if I stick these electronics in my trachea. I’ve gotten lucky with mutation, but I’m not really willing to start ripping open my own throat just yet. Maybe some other time.
Thermal Dissipation? Didnt work for me, at least.
So I’ve been in the triffid grove now… twice. First time: triffids themselves arent really the problem here; it’s the creeping vines totally blocking the narrow tunnels. I accidentally moved over quite a few and although they didnt do all that much damage to me, they destroyed my utility vests and - more importantly - my peacoat. At that time it was around -10C (14F) cold, so I started having frostbites really quickly (I know they arent enabled, but still…). Headed to my car, drove back home, almost crashed into a few trees some queens left on the road, burned the queens + trees. I then had to waste another night raiding the nearby town for new vests and a coat.
On the third day I made my way back into the triffid tunnels and this time, reached the heart level. Sadly, vines do not burn as well in a molotov as you might have thought. For some reason the fire doesnt spread from one vine to another, so it becomes really tedious to destroy all the vines until you can see their hub. As I reached a 1x1 chokepoint hallway with vines everywhere in it, I realized that I couldnt kill the vines faster than they’d regrow - Both melee and firearms didnt get me further. Only solution will be a) more explosives or b) a flamethrower so I can kill more than one vine at once. Either way, I’ll have to gather more supplies, since I do not have the crafting materials … never needed grenades or a flamethrower. I know of a bunker with tons of C4, dynamite and a few mininukes in it, which I didnt bother looting yet. Maybe I’lll swing by and grab some of it.
Still, compared to the fungus stuff the triffids are 100x more annoying - not necessarily harder or tougher, but ANNOYING. Those vines, little b… I wonder why a lot of roguelikes make you despise nature and those who try to strengthen it.
Version 0.2 Static spawns on. Despite a few very bad starts this version having to do with ‘Surprise! 8:45AM Hulk’-s. I managed to successfully get a character past day 1.
By doing the exact opposite of what was sane in the last version. I found a backpack and then jumped into a gun store. I then exited the store guns blazing with enough ammunition and guns to arm an x-com squad. A day later the starting town is a ghost town with corpses and bullet casings everywhere. My main base is now a garage in the center of town surrounded by corpses. There is not a single zombie left standing for miles.
Pits+turret+radio (100) (on)
- Dig pits in a 4x4 near/inside town
- Place turret in centre
- Activate Radio and place on turret
- Hide
- ???
- Profit
Heading back to the starting shelter after looting the nearby town I notice a bunch a scientist corpses one of them has a pair of sunglasses, I then manage to kill something just by putting them on…
