I know that feel. Don’t even have hope of losing it in the woods.

Get back there and fight like a man!

I always wondered what’s the deal with Zombears and Zombie Dogs. I have 17 perception and binocs and see nothing, yet whenever I fall asleep in the wilderness, I always end up with them knocking on my door.

How the hell do they track me in the middle of Bum-F’d nowhere?

They spawn out of no where. Annoying as HELL

I think the lightning generator is OK as is. Don’t get greedy.

A mixture of spawning from nowhere and also smelling you, I believe.

Tape up your windows. Or hell, get rid of your windows. Who needs them?

No longer!

In the latest PR zombears no longer have the wildlife tag, they shouldn’t dynamic spawn anymore.

But yeah, dynamic spawning enemies are terrible, sleep in basements, its the only way to be safe.

What, and lose my killzone? Dig moats around your fortress-- moats plural. Use wooden planks for access. Stud the moats with en-moated and trapped turrets, preferably with lightstrips nearby so nothing sneaks up on them. Then board up any windows you don’t use as primary access, (or include those and just use a hammer to un-board them whenever you feel like venturing out) build furniture behind those, beartraps behind those and then board up any doors to rooms you don’t use.

If in doubt, fill the moat with wood, gasoline and explosives.
In event of rogue zombear you can sit at the center of your domain sipping tea throw a molotov outside and watch the fireworks.
Yeah, really hoping wandering hordes are coming soon.

Zombears aren’t that bad. I’ve killed them over a windowsill and a pocket knife.

It all depends on your character. If you’re a fresh spawn, yeah you can kill most things just by beating them up with a stick or similar, but once you’ve played the game a little, especially if you play an addict, you get lots of speed penalties that make melee fighting things like zombie animals impossible.

An army fights on its stomach, and in Cata, so do you. Again, this mostly only matters for players who haven’t gotten lucky with food early on (25 speed, 0 or 1 survival skill, maybe no knife, bad luck finding food in houses)

I’ve killed zombears with said objects freshly spawned, yes.

So I was fighting a horde and about halfway through I started to notice I wasn’t killing them as fast as I usually can.

Only after they were all dead did I realize I had been fighting with a pickle instead of my rapier.

Not sure if I should eat the pickle or spray paint it gold and hang it over my fireplace.

Also I tried throwing salt at a zombie to see if it would do anything special. I was sorely disappointed when it didn’t.

You should probably carve something into that pickle.

I found out that a good weapon to use in a pinch against manhacks, are broken manhacks. They do pretty good damage when thrown.

So I tossed my Pneumatic bolt driver after finding a Cx4 and modding the living crap out of it.

Once I find a double mag I’ll add it to this as well. It may lack a burst fire mode, but the ammo is easy to get (I’ve got like 1700 9mm in my motorcycle-base storage), ridiculously accurate (I’m getting headshots and crits 70-80% of the time), and it’s powerful enough to pierce bot armor and one-shot nearly everything else.

The only thing missing is a rail-mounted crossbow, I’m carrying a pistol crossbow to fire explosive bolts in the meantime.

“zombie-killer”, preferably.
