I have not yet driven a vehicle in this game, but I have just completed my 1st vehilce build. I hope I’m on the right track here… it’s supposed to be a little scavenger.
Well, I learnt that I need to add a bash bar to the front to protect it a bit better.
Converted an old pickup truck into The Car. As you can see, the innovative cab-forward design boasts a massive glove compartment…
Got the general layout complete, now its ready to widen into a mobile box base.
v2 - slowly expanding while traveling, leaving a trail of useless car parts behind me. Getting there.
@ Sirquote: She’s beautiful dude.

What kind of vehicle did you start with, or did you build it up from the beginning?
Started with a Big Rig as it had the closest size that I wanted. If i’d of found a military truck I would of gone with that. Almost finished the next phase, will update soon.
v1
v2
Update
v3!
Hit a bit of a snag with that vehicle window expanding one way and not going back so I’ve had to shift everything to the right.
Should still be able to keep to the design I had in mind. Floor space is huge in this thing, ready for trunks when needed. I really want to make bedroom and kitchen compartments, and of course finish it off with turrets on all corners.
This thing takes up the entire road, feels pretty badass… only downside is traps and not going into cities anymore, but the plan is that when this is finished it will mostly be in one place in the middle of nowhere.
Update
Finally Finished, after an entire autumn of welding/eating/sleeping Station Zebra is complete.
v4
All that remains is the defense network which I still need to play around with before committing to any design changes. I’m happy with it so far and the building itself was an adventure to say the least. Now I need to park this baby somewhere and make my runaround powerbike.

This is my mobile base tank, the Thundertank. Forgive the blood spatters. Has no problem removing the occasional wall, although navigating a city can be an adventure due to the width.
Has doors instead of windshields! They act like armor, can crawl out the front of the vehicle if necessary, and replacing windshields is never fun. Main cabin is all floor trunks surrounded by boards, with a stocked kitchen unit and a safe bed to sleep in. The rear doors are opaque, which allows me to back into turreted installations if needed, while giving good rear visibility while driving if they are open.

It also has 360 degree headlight coverage, giving a pretty good view for driving at night.

Here’s what driving it typically looks like. No turrets yet, but that’s on the agenda.

How’d you get the 360 headlights Tal?
last time I tried to put headlights on the back of a truck, they wouldn’t work. I was told they only work on the front…
I always name my vehicles the “Jaquemobile” and generally turn out something like
0 Wheel I ripped off a car
Seat and large electric motor
Solar panel and storage battery
H Trunk and another car wheel
Fantastic during looting runs, weaves between cars like a dream. Sadly, they do not live up to it’s mysterious namesake most of the time, their solar panels being so fragile.
Headlight direction was added in one of the nightlies. It asks what direction you would like it to face when installing iirc.

I really like that font, what’s it called? (and what size is it set to?)
My FONTDATA file:
white rabbit

You can get white rabbit at http://www.squaregear.net/fonts/
It’s nice looking, but not perfect. Some charachters, like A/R and ()/[] aren’t quite as easy to tell apart as other fonts. Best square font that doesn’t have to be scaled at 1080 that I’ve found though.
Thanks!

I must be doing something wrong, because it looks like this:
And this is what it looks like:
I’ve found in the latest versions, I’ve had to right click on the font and install it for Cata to actually use it. If you’ve done that, then I have no idea.
Great, now it says its not a valid font when installing.
Oh well, I guess my days of finding fonts are over.
try changing your FONTDATA to read
whitrabt
16
16
AS I believe currently you are telling it to use a font that just doesn’t exist (“white rabbit”, while being the full name, doesn’t correspond to the file name)
After installing the font on my PC, it shows up in the fonts list as White Rabbit, so you probably just need to change the name in FONTDATA to include the capital letters.
All good things to try. I did rename the file, so that’s possible. There might be a difference with how Cataclysm loads fonts depending on the build number as well. I have to install a font to the windows fonts directory, and then put the “official” name of the font in the FONTDATA file regardless of what the filename in Cata’s font directory actually is. This was not the case in Cata 0.6. I’m currently running 0.7.1-166-g6fb9379 if that helps anyone.
I hope you get the issue fixed FunsizeNinja123, or can at least go back to what you were using before!
This has gotten a bit offtopic, I added a post to the font thread at http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=269 for anyone who wants to continue that discussion. Maybe once FunsizeNinja123 gets his issue fixed, we should clean up the thread a little?
