Have to say, I’m loving the vehicles addition pack.
My current crowning glory was the usual solar-powered survivor deathmobile studded with laser turrets.
Nothing special really, but it’s given me ideas for the next one.
Parked out front in between a military outpost and a Mall blaring music, banging the horn and smoking a joint.
Nothing made it close, so I started tossing in a few grenades and some tear gas just to pass the time.
'Twas Glorious.
This is amazing. The part about smoking a joint just makes it. The mental image of this is absolutely glorious.
Anyway, I probably should try to put together a full deathmobile at some point, but honestly I’ve only really done simple modifications to vehicles. My current one is an electric car with a bunch of spikes welded to the front and the trunk and trunk doors replaced with cargo spaces I yoinked off a flatbed.
.> why am I not following this glorious thread? This must be fixed NOW. Oh… there we go. fixed.
My last survivor was overjoyed with the amount of armored vehicles in their town. Two armored cars with turrets, think one of them was some form of rocket launcher, and a firetruck, complete with water cannons. They coughed to death not long after a fight with a smoker zombie. (already damaged torso so it didn’t take much)
Can we do some kind of Top Gear challenge with our home brew vehicles ?
Example :
Build a car within the rule set ( like engine size, frames used, and so on ) and do a top speed test / crash test endurance test or even a timed lap (if someone can build the top gear track that would be awesome )
If people are interested I try to figure out a good rule set and some fun challenges.
Oh. This feels like pre-built worlds coming on. The ARCADE WORLD! O.o OMG the “hub” location where survivors from various areas go to to compare how good of survivors they are. It’s even loretastic! Everything that could be put there would make sense on that basis.
Rolling homes with everything onboard + lots of cargo space, but still able to move inside cities and between car wrecks.
It becomes a space optimization and configuration problem very quickly. :)
Drbig made a beginning of a vehicle guide on the wiki, and I’d like to see some designs of the above category So that I know how to build my next mobile base so that it’s usable
Finally I have survived long enough to really start a ‘vehicle’, since this is my first one it’s crude and very inefficient, and it’s not an actual vehicle and more just a massive rig built inside a house on the outskirts of the city i’m looting dry…
A recharging station and a kitchen unit, the former I found whilst I was hunting for a torch, found it inside the only garage for miles… Now I just gotta find a way to build rechargeable mods for all my electronic devices :3
A minifridge I found whilst scavening, and a water tank/faucet for water scrubbing, And naturally a floodlight to make sure I never have to slum around in darkness anymore!
Dirty tank and a faucet (no idea why a faucet, but it looks nice I guess), you can’t have clean water without dirty water, and luckily there’s a house with a pond in front so I don’t have to fool around with funnels.
The big rig powering this baby, muffler to keep the beast of a V8 ‘silent’, a Diesel powered V8 because that’s the first thing I found and I hope that it means the battery will charge faster because of the added power? Controls were a bitch to find, and only after I found a chisel in the same place I found the recharger was I able to craft wire to build my own controls.
The uppermost part is currently just a wooden frame with nothing attached, probably going to add the welding rig to that in the future so that I’m even more of a at-home badass…
Anyways, i’m really chuffed since this is the first time i’ve been able to build my own ‘vehicle’, and I’m certainly going to use this rig to start development on a fully fledged survivor-truck which will be able to own the wasteland!

Forest tiles * average speed before destruction = vehicle score
Set up 100 10x1 regular walls in a rows, do the same for glass, concrete, immobile hulks and hell, do rows of vehicles too. I’ve shot myself through a main battle tank before.
You get thrown into jail for aggravated smartassery, and will be put into a cell that’s smaller than you!
…I don’t know really. Some guesses:
The game crashes the first time you try to add a part that should appear outside the reality bubble.
The reality bubble simply cuts off parts of the vehicle. The parts outside the bubble don’t take any collision damage while you drive, as they “don’t exist”, at least not until you stop and exit the vehicle, and move closer to those parts. I suppose exiting a moving vehicle is also an option, at which point… Why do I think of the phrase ‘can of worms’ ?
I actually assume that the limit is clearly visible to anyone with cunting skills. I think, iirc, that the window for vehicle construction is only so big, and if you scroll up for however long it will only take yay many downclicks to reach center again. Considering that I could concieveably make a 3x3 Fat Cross CIV style (to prevent damage from Zs and shrubs from ruining the work) until the game rejected me.
Im getting bored of my character, and want to make a grenadier now, so this will be his last hurrah.
71 tiles from where you stand. Installing parts from the center. The frames cease to exist after a length, like so.
Actually, you can only install parts up to 71 tiles away. You can keep installing parts if you go out that far, but since reality bubble happens at 72 tiles the frames only exist within 71 tiles of the vehicle center.
Its been bugging me that the control of the vehicle are offset from my typical welding spot by 1 north, 2 east, being in the top lieft of the vehicle by the foreward hatch. so
I present to you all, the humble (and newly named) Swag Attack. Tried and tested. What better way to stick it to zombie man than by speeding along a unicycle with a cargo carrier of ammo attached? You can drive and shoot with a submachine gun like the H&K MP5 and rain death upon hordes chasing from behind and front, mowing them down with hails of burst fire. You can load up on a ton of ammo on the carrier and not worry about lack of ammunition.

unicycle? i did this before but design is obsolete
casters , light frame, foldable seat, foot crank, controls, cargo carrier
i think headlight, battery and solar panel should fit there but im unsure about that, maybe some armor plating too
and if navigating inside buildings you can just pull this at ease because it have casters not wheel but casters do not work now with engines/foot cranks
