Vehicle Show and Tell

I finally got around to posting one of my creations! Creative name, I know.

Originally, it was an altered military vehicle design. It runs off of foot pedals and an electric engine, and has a large electric engine as a third option. Inboard mirrors, reinforced windows and unboarded sidesections help with vision, along with a camera system + headlights in the front.

It features a great deal of storage, a FOODCO kitchen buddy, a minifridge, and uses four 18" wide wheels. The whole inner blue section has solar panels to each tile and tons of batteries in the middle.

This “Heavy Transporter” might be slow, but it’s pretty reliable and never runs out of electricity. Now if only I could figure out how to use a mounted NX-17 Charge Rifle installed on it…

EDIT: The foot pedals are to charge bionic power with the Torsion Ratchet CBM. Just thought I’d mention that.

I’d rather not use the charge rifle anywhere near my car. Or my base, for that matter. Too often it does it’s explosive shot attack at close range.

Welp, uh. Had a small sitatuion while looking for parts for the RMCC and it’s just gonna have to show in it’s last ‘driveable’ state.

“What happened Ekarus?”

A horde, and a last-stand that’d make Michel Bay proud. Unfortunately because of the unexpected end, it’s a smidge beat-up.

So working from the top down we’ve got a ram. Decided I’d give the whole angled ram a try in the hopes it’d work better, flat rams last longer and are about as effective, so I’ll be sticking to that in the next build.

Bunch of shock-absorbers in there to take the impact, they do their job well. Only time I saw damage transfer past the first row was in a hundred mile an hour collision with a bloody motorcycle. (And as you know, in Cataclysm if a Semi hits a motorcycle the semi explodes in more dramatic a fashion than in the greatest of all explosion effects.)

The damn mechanics nerf really set back the build of this, getting limited to two engines created more than a few problems but it also did show me a few things. Two V12 engines can apparently safely get a 40 ton tank up to 30 MPH, but it can run “unsafely” I guess to the 120 MPH I expect, I just loose control more frequently. Damned thing gets HORRENDOUS gas mileage at that speed though. Didn’t bother putting alternators on the engines though, took too much power away and since it was gonna drink gas like I drink Pepsi I didn’t see the value in it.

The cockpit’s fully armored, the windshields are reinforced and that’s mil-spec plating over the whole front end. Five point harness in the seat, redundant controls, camera systems, good strong truck horn, all fun.

The turret system is something I’m a little proud of, a friend of mine pointed out the Slingshot Cannon turrets, so I built a bunch and got em rigged up. There are
three in the front, two of them use “Big Bang” canisters, the middle-most one uses modified mini-nukes, the six on the sides use Inferno Canisters. I’ve also got four mounted M2 Brownings but with 10 rounds between them they’re mostly for show.

Four mini-fridges store all the food, booze, drink, and perishable crafting stuffs, which at the time of the accident were just BEAUTIFULLY full, I’m sure it’s a radioactive/flaming mess by now though.

Shitton of trunks hold guns, ammo, launchers, missles, spare canisters for the turrets, crafting materials, building supplies, spare parts, tools, and my crafting books. All in all there was around four tons of the RMCC’s 40 tons of weight in cargo alone.

Of course there’s a full suite of crafting equipment on-board, as well as an anvil, a brick oven, several charcoal kilns, a still, all good things to have when you’ve got the space.

In the rear there’s some stuff for maintaining armor and clothing, boxes full of assorted scrap material. As well as storage for recreational reading material, a bed with sheets and pillows (ALL OF THE PILLOWS. ALL OF THEM. AAAAAAAAAAAALLL THE PILLOWS.) meds & drugs, and shiny stuff I stole found.

Put a robot driver in the rear instead of the smaller drive-by-wire controls because I needed something for the middle of the room.

All in all, it was a fine vehicle. It’s last moments included me throwing chunks of the rear wall at zombies while trying to crawl to the ammo and explosives near the middle of the primary storage area (which was also over the gas tank) with a live mini-nuke.

7:36:24 PM You set the timer to 1.1

Little bonus, started another survivor and TP’d to the wreck, there was around 10 tons worth of scrap laying around it, but enough of the RMCC survived the blast to roll again. Albeit incredibly slowly, but it survived. XD

It’s beautiful… Well and truly have I never seen a more wondrous landship grace the roadways of New England.

Sadly all I have to offer currently is what I call the “Work In Progress”.

It’s a Schoolbus from the local Refugee Center that’s just finished undergoing a total conversion using the entirety of a Military APC (everything is Heavy Duty Frames and Boards now). Once I finish stripping Cargo Carriers from a Flatbed Truck its back to my base where three more Military APCs await to be stripped of their Composite Armor, then I can start putting up walls and installing amenities. After that I’ll certainly need to hunt for a more conventional and powerful gas engine (a basic V6 Diesel just won’t cut it anymore by then) along with enough panels for a roof mounted solar array. But by then it’ll truly be a mobile home and crafting mecca, deserving of a proper name.

That is a beast! It gives me an idea to build such a huge vehicle, but with a twist. I would make it run with large electric motors. It would receive all the solar panels and storage batteries in the world. I don’t expect it go very fast. Oh no, I would expect it to crawl onward slowly. I would stomp the gas pedal to the floor, and calmly step out of the vehicle. Its purpose would be to crawl autonomously and unwaiveringly for a thousand years, slowly crushing anything and everything in its way.

And then I’d build another one.

I’m staring at Ekarus Monster of a Vehicle and can’t believe he somehow managed to build it. This THING had to took ages to assemble, right?
And here i thought I make big vehicles…

Ehem, anyways, my current design for my Survival Vehicle:

Basically, my Vehicle has 3 Parts:
The ‘Cockpit’ in the front, secured with reinforced windshields, an extra layer of quarterpanels and shredders in the front. The Cockpit itself has 2 Seats with 5-point harnesses, a Security Screen and Controls, a Minifridge for Snacks/drinks on the go (or to stash perishable crafting ingredients like raw fur/hide), a cargo space for guns, armor, tools and other stuff I might need quickly and a recharging station in the middle for welders, gunsmith kits, flashlights, pdas and so on.

The middle part is the living Area. The northern most part has a Kitchen Unit, a Foodco Kitchen Buddy and 5 Minifridges for sorting my food (Alcoholic Drinks, Normal Drinks, Cooked Food, Raw Food, Misc) and a reclining seat with a table. The reclining seat does has a pillow and a blanket, as an auxilliary bed.
South of the Seat/Table combo are 3 Cargo Spaces/Trunks for Medicine/Drugs, Books/Magazines and Non-Perishable Food (MRE, Canned stuff and Clean Water basically. Emergency food I call it :P)
The southeast has 6 Cargo Spaces/trunks for Clothing, Armor and Packs/bags(basically, bigger container-clothing, like backpacks, duffel bags, runner packs and so on). Directly south of all the clothing are 2 real beds with a box each for private stuff. The Seat in between the boxes have vehicle Controls and a harness as well as a Security Screen, in case i have to move my vehicle very quickly or when I don’t want to be seen driving the vehicle.
As you can also see, the living area has 4 big windows in total, all with curtains, to let the sun in or to let some air in when you burned your food :stuck_out_tongue:

The last part is the Crafting Area, it ‘only’ has a Welding Rig, a Chemistry lab and a recharging bay in the current setup, i do plan to put a forge in there when I have the time and necessary ressources.
The southern half of this part is filled with Cargo Spaces for sorting stuff. This is also the place where most weapons, ammunition, modifications and bionics go. The 2 stowboards in the southern wall have farming equipment, fishing equipment and some basic survival gear in them, in case i need to grab something quickly.

The Whole Vehicle is covered in a mixture of military composite plating, alloy plating and steel plating. It has a ton of solar panels on the roof in order to power everything inside and the necessary battery storage (currently a mixture of different batteries, with a maximum of ~500.000 charge) ; the vehicle also contains 2 Diesel tanks, 2 Gasoline Tanks, 3 Clean Water tanks and 1 Dirty Water tank. It usually has 4-6 laserturrets of some description on it for self defense and in the past it had all 3 kinds of engines in it, electrical, gasoline and diesel, gasoline and diesel had alternators on them for additional power production, if necessary. The Current build is only using a big Diesel Engine.
All in all, the Vehicle clocks in at about 10 tons, it’s 21 squares long and 7 squares wide, basically, it fits perfectly on one side of the road. The usual speed I’m using is either 56 km/h or 32 km/h if I’m driving in a zone with a lot of obstacles. (which would be roughly 35 mph / 20 mph, if google is correct).

About a year and a half in-game and the better part of a month in reality (Between work and other games though.) As for “big vehicles” I’m kinda known for it XD Truth be told I think this version of the RMCC is smaller (…and frankly more practical.)

I gotta say though, your current vehicle actually kinda reminds me of an earlier version of the RMCC.

This was back when the vehicle construction rules were different though, I gotta say though… I kinda like the newer rules, even though it’s fucked me over considerably XD MAKES THINGS MORE INTERESTING.

Trust me, with the weight I had on the treads and the speed I was going, there won’t be any roadways left. An electric vehicle is a neat idea, but I’m pretty sure something as heavy as the RMCC (It weighed in just over 40 tons) wouldn’t move /at all/ with electric engines.

how the hell do you drive that thing dont the back swing out when turning?

No no, reverse parking is just cold logic

The “origin” point on all of my vehicles is roughly the center of the vehicle, it causes shit to “turn on a dime” but yes, it is EXCEEDINGLY difficult to turn, usually requires double the space the vehicle takes up. XD

Welp. I need to go build a Mk 3 Landcruiser now. Planning on having the durability of my Mk 1 and the storage space of the Mk 2. Won’t be as long as the RMCC of course, or have it’s potential storage capacity, but it’ll be better armoured for sure

I played around with a few Engine Setups and came to the following results: (all of them are 13767 kg weight)
2 enhanced electric motors: 11 mph/t acceleration, safe speed is 120 mph, max speed is 511 mph
1 V8 Diesel engine: 10 mph/t acceleration, safe speed is 107 mph, max speed is 643 mph
1 V8 Gasoline Engine: 9 mph/t acceleration, safe speed is 97 mph, max speed is 631 mph
Both V8 Engines: 15 mph/t acceleration, safe speed is 164 mph, max speed is 1020 mph
All 4 Engines: 19 mph/t acceleration, safe speed is 204 mph, max speed is 1094 mph.

I don’t know what kind of engines you have in your RMCC and so on, but 2 enhances electric motors >might< be enough to move the thing around - you could always add some big electric motors as well, which would help out I guess? In any case, you would need a few solars in order to keep it running, but considering how big those vehicles are, that shouldn’t be a problem, right?

I’ve never heard of “Enhanced Electric Engines” before, but the RMCC in this build is using 2 V12 engines, and believe me, there’s solar panels on it, but I /barely/ broke even on a sunny day, lots of electronics on-board, I doubt I could use an electric engine as the power behind the movement.

I know for a fact that the enhanced electric motors are a thing in the experimental builds, not sure if it’s in the stable build though. They are basically lighter than a big electric motor, but have a bit more power behind them.

Still, if you’re using 2 V12 engines…Those are quite a bit stronger than V8s, which I use, so even if it works with electric engine, it’s going to be slow as heck.

This is not the biggest, flashiest, toughest, or versatile vehicles I’ve done but it has one of the most efficient build for its purpose, to attach its part on a non-functional vehicle whether it is wheels, batteries, engine, or controls then fold itself back into the inventory while the once-defunct vehicle can now be driven back to your base for disassembly. The name of the vehicle is called the parasite unicycle.

This is the core which is always going to remain after the other parts are remove to insert into the other vehicle.

These are the parts that will be removed to attach to the host vehicle to make it function again. Note that not all of the parts are needed and I recommend only removing the ones you need to have the vehicle to function (ex, only remove control if only the controls are broken).

The nice thing is that the entire body of the parasite unicycle is foldable.

Does that make my host vehicles zombie cars?

In belated honor of Mad Max, it’s time to shop together a screen of an apocalyptic caravan! Each person posts a screen of them driving their vehicle, which gets put into the caravan. I’ll let you all decide who is at the head of the caravan and who actually puts it together. I expect great things!

Valerie Irving and the Military Police Interceptor reporting for caravan forward scouting duty!

UEF Uriel, shielded assault fighter, ready to tumble any heavy targets; just remember to cover my six.

How exactly is that outer frame/plating/armor connected to the main vehicle…? Or am I just blind?

L.A.S.E.R Reporting for duty clearing roadblocks and the odd raider, sir!

The Light Armoured Scout & ExploRation vehicle is designed to be agile while packing quite a punch.
