I was gonna give a big grandiose “It’s back” post but I’ve gotta go to work in like five minutes.
(…)awesomeness, picture, big-ass base, etc(…)
Legitimately constructed over the better part of a real week and about 68 days in-game.
That must be one loud beast. Even with three mufflers.
Loud doesn’t really matter to me, I’ve tried playing with wandering hordes on but if you fart in Alaska, Zombies from Madagascar are gnawing on my ass within the hour.
That said I haven’t gotten a chance to start it yet, had to leave for work about the time I finished it.
My current project, the UFO. It’s definitely a work in progress but I’ll be happy to post more as it progresses. I intend for it to have a double layer of rollers and full armor protection… but I lack the skills yet to add more than one crummy engine. I did find an early advanced solar car so at least it’s got some solar power charging.
4 v12 engines
4 storage batteries
10 gas tanks
4 water tanks
4 mufflers
8 enhanced solar panels
24 rollers
25 cargo carriers.
Almost exactly 35 tons.
More armored wheels then I can shake a stick at (I think there are 36 armored wheels on it, I forget)
A welder in every corner so I can fix the vehicle from anywhere.
Around the outside is storage, the inner is crafting/sleeping (panic room).
Military armor all the way around and around the panic room and cab.
Lots of storage
It’s not particularly fast, I couldn’t manage any more engines, though I have 2 more sacked away. At 12 tiles wide this thing takes up most the road and should never go into town (it’ll get stuck). This is me with it on my way back to pickup all my supply stashes (the cargo carriers are a new addition).
Built up around a smaller vehicle (see if you can spot it).

Holy FUCK that is a lot of rollers.
Could you please drive this thing into a town (or a forest) and post screenshots. You may even savescum for this experiment.

Having driven the RMCC in a town before it’s not as much fun as you’d hope. A bicycle will bring the RMCC from top speed to zilch for no apparent fucking reason. It’s why you can’t drive big vehicles in towns, an immobile 30 pound vehicle will /always/ win against a 32,000 pound mobile vehicle in CDDA for some fucked up reason.
Well I think that high fuel usage and low speed might be because all the wheels it has, I will see about cutting down the number of wheels it has and see if that improves things.
Fuel usage is a major issue with it. It can still get pretty far with it’s 10 gas tanks, but I needed the extra muscle to bring up it’s top speed.
I remember when you could drive a vehicle easily through a house, but you can’t even do that anymore (much to my sadness, because doing it was very fun). You would think at 35 tons, it could bully anything out of it’s way, but it really can’t. Forests are a bit more forgiving still, but not by much.
EDIT: Here it is somewhat tweaked, I noticed the rollers weight a lot. So removing the inner layer saved a lot of otherwise unneeded weight.

I think we sorted that one out? I’ve pushed vehicles aside with a stock road roller.
They roll a bit, but they still stop your vehicle dead. Also, they sometimes roll in the entirely wrong direction. I recent;y got the bullet hung up on such a vehicle.
If your vehicle is massive enough vs the target vehicle, it should just shove or flatten the other vehicle.

It’ll never cease to amaze me when I hit a vehicle at full speed and it proceeds to be thrown-- back at me into the vehicle and /destroy/ the RMCC despite the vehicle I hit weighing probably less than the goddamn roller that hit it XD
Using the vehicle turrets mod, I replaced my fusion turrets with two Storm Bolters (fire crossbow bolts) and a splintergun (shoots metal shards). I have also filled up most of my storage area, as well as adding several more quantum solar panels. My batteries recharge completely if I sit still for a few hours. I also filled the doors with molotovs just in case.
