APC: Armored Petroleum Combuster

I guess you did. Pity. I liked Ekarus and we’re worse off without him.
First there was the MFB, and later the infamous

Indeed… We need a new-new guy to shake up the ranks!
Hello all. New guy here. Found this game via a friend a week or so ago and I’ve loved every minute of it. I thought I’d share with you all some of my vehicle designs while surviving in the post apocalypse.
The Huntmaster is my latest design. It is designed to be used with a one handed gun (my case its a Coilgun) to keep up with speedier game animals. Once it is dead, you butcher it and keep the meat within the back mounted Minifridge (don’t forget to turn it on) to be transported back to base later. It features a solar panel to power the minifridge and the vehicle’s electric motor, though batteries should be replaced every season or so.
The Cargo Quad is my go to exploration vehicle. It satisfied my incredible compulsive need to pick up every valuable I find, featuring 5 trunk cargo compartments. It also features solar panels on the back to charge up my battery (for later use) in other projects. Its light-ish weight, combined with a four cylinder engine gives it great fuel efficiency and a good safe speed.
Currently I also have two side projects. One is the Pariah Mobile Base, which once finished would mean a departure from my base forever, currently just frame finished but suffice to say its 12 x 6 in size.
Second is the party wagon. A mostly “for Fun” vehicle, made with a base frame of wood, cloth roofing, wooden armor, and a pair of engines with wheels attached for horses.

i like your Huntmaster i gonna create something like this in my world alslo welcome to Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead and Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - Official Forums
Not exactly a show and tell, but is it possible to disable seeing your solar panels while inside the vehicle? Sometimes they blink out and I can see the interior furnishings, but it appears to be only in specific locations in the vehicle. It’d just be easier to get around (read: manage my loot) if I could tell see the insides.
i had a nice lil planet hauler a good condition trailer for a semi i turned into my junk collector for recycling into steel lumps. until a raider shot at me from their raider camp and blew out a wheel while i was going 100 mph, good news is the raider camp is a inferno now bad news so is my everything. i hit the palisade wall going sideways over all the land mines on that side. probably didn’t help that about 3 cargo carriers were full of my explosives, 2 full of gas cans, and 5 of various ammo’s.
that raider did not see the piece of shrapnel that cut his head off…
it was glorious and sad at the same time
on a side note how does one flatten alot of trees fast without exploding from a random bush piercing your gas tanks?
Took me an entire real life day, but I am finished. Here is the Pariah, my Mobile Home.
Features a huge Cargo Capacity, while being extensively armored with military composite.
What turrets?
Front mounted pair of Flamethrowers, the turrets on the side are mounted above opaque doors with M249 Machine Guns.
My experience with turrets is that anything creating a fire (fthrowers, NX-17, fusion guns, plasma) can provide ‘fun’ if pointed forward.
once i had a cosy lil mobile home till i nuked it… along with myself…
I just wanted to find out how potent these mininukes are so i planted one and ran away to my mobile home… all the time beeing amazed of how well my hearing was given that i still heard the countdown at the range i had covered running.
At least i had a close up of the detonation… and that day i also decided against trying the mininuke launcher.
I had another one build but due to an accident while cooking food “i did somehow ignite the wrong square and set my house on fire”.
I panicked as i had nothing to put it out ran away and forgot my car which was standing snuggled up to the houses walls… when i realised my mistake i just arrived to witness all the fireworks from the explosives i stored in my car…
Use a double hull, by which I mean a ring of armored heavy duty frames surrounding the functional parts of your vehicle. It’ll make you immune to shrubs at sane speeds. In my experience, with a front bumper of heavy duty frames covered in spiked plating mounted on a 6 ton vehicle (see the GFM above), you can expect the following:
Shrubs will do zero damage at anything below 100kph. Above that, they’ll start doing minor damage that can accumulate pretty quickly.
An impact with a small tree (1) will flatten the tree, and bring either the plating or the frame that hits it down to yellow health. Fairly safe as long as you repair the damaged section before trying again.
Impacting a tall tree (7) hard enough to flatten it will bring the impacting frame down to critical health, severely damage or completely destroy the impacting plating, and severely damage parts surrounding the point of impact. Would not recommend except in an emergency.
To sum up, unless you have a colossal, 5+ tile deep battering ram mounted on the front of your vehicle, the amount of tall trees you can ram through before totalling your vehicle is probably limited to the single digits. Any decent armor means you don’t have to swerve to avoid shrubs though.

and a asphalt layer so i can make roads to raider camps i “borrow”
THIIIIIS just made my day
Any cool vehicles lately?
Solar Roller V, seen in another thread
It is powered by two large electric engines. I don’t have a plasma engine yet but I do have a hydrogen tank. The two turrets are fusion blasters, but I dare not use them because they take up too much power, something I have had in short supply since before I put them on. The solar panels are 4 upgraded, 2 quantum. Even they do not supply quite as much power as I need. Underneath them are 6 cargo carriers with vehicle parts, electronic parts, chemistry ingredients, clothing and armor parts, books that I have already read but I want to save just in case, and firearms.
In order the crafting stations are: kitchen unit, kitchen buddy, electric forge, welding rig, minifridge, and chemistry lab. My kitchen unit has my medicines and a water tank underneath. My kitchen buddy has my electronics and a recharging station. My welding rig has my forging tools that I can’t store in my forge, as well as my scrap metal and plastic chunks. My chemistry set stores my mutagen jugs and serum vials. The actual chemistry ingredients I store in the cargo bay.
I eventually plan to add a ram to the front of the Solar Roller V to make it different from the Solar Roller IV. Right now they are about the same except for a bit of organization and solar panel placement.
