Solar panels need buffed but to be actually affected by bad weather. And the rigs need to actually draw power.
The windshield is taking up half the “seat” and the back end extends over a trunk, it’s probably closer to three. They don’t need buffed. I can run a fridge off four panels just fine, when there’s sunlight. Then again I’m also not driving around under the delusion that a solar powered car is clearly the way to go in a rainy region.
What on earth do you mean by “and the rigs need to actually draw power”
Guys to be honest solar panels are weak as hell right now. However, to me that feels realistic. I can certainly see people using solar cars having a lot of trouble with the current charge rates. Hell, my outdoor battery charger is having fits trying to fill even a single car battery, let alone a storage battery.
How about having gas stations spawn with an electric car charge station? Or an entirely new gas-station type building that spawns electric chargers and hydrogen pumps etc.
Or have a steam-generator that acts like an engine, using fires on it as to see his much engine output is being made. However you can’t accelerate, only use brakes.
Let’s face it, this is the only solution.
Solar panels where OPed before, no question, problem is they are pretty much useless atm, im expecting them to get a bit of a buff sometime in the near future, its how these things usually work. The current level means that every person who owned one of the 10000 solar powered cars strewn about the map was either a shut in who only drove once every 3 months, or a complete idiot.
My best solution so far is to create a solar power ‘farm’ with about 30 panels, with epower set to 222. I looted panels off every damn car for about 3 miles. I am now getting pretty darn decent battery charging, about 1 storage battery full every two days. Then I install em in my rig, which makes for a semi-reasonable rolling distance.
It does seem that no auto manufacturer would make an electric powered solar car that could only drive 1 day out of 13. I’m not saying they should be more powerful, but it’s not likely that there’d be any solar cars on the road if you could only drive em once a fortnight.
This is my two cars I use to handle a 16-size city.
There is a strange bug that when I turn my car on diagonal, Zombies can get inside. This happened, and they destroyed my kitchen buddy and kitchen unit… so perhaps I have to reinforce it with more frames.
The problen can be solved comparing the theorical consumition of an electric engine for some speed and the depletion programed for the batteries in the catdda code, with the objetive of get an equivalence between 1 point of battery and watt/h
(http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15508)
Very probable that the code were done using something like this.
Then, knowing the equivalente, the output of the pannel needs to be calibrated taking account a ± tile surface, and typical eficiency solar pannels values and solar input.
Solar input of 1kw/h/m2 is standar. The real value could depend of the complexity of the climate simulation in catta, but it will never be more that 1.4)
Solar pannel output is Solar Input * efficiency, value that can be between 20% and 100% at free will taking account that catdda is ambientated in the future
As little example, a 1000kg car at humble 90km/h, consumes around 15-20kw/h = 75-100 square meters of pannes at actual tecnology
That’s not a bug, it’s just the result of the game handling a vehicle as various blocks stuck together. A zombie can’t pass any individual block, but just like with any other diagonal gap in the game, they can walk right on through if the blocks are not in a straight line.
I think if you make the outside of your vehicle double layered, it won’t be able to happen.
But you’d need to use impassable blocks not just frames. Quarterpanels would work.
My modified humvee.
What it has:
1x5.64 V8 gasoline engine
1xLarge electric motor
2xNX-17 rifles mounted at the sides
3x solar panel
6x storage battery
4xtrunk
1xbox
1xbed
2x red light
2xblue light
3xheadlights(not really used)
Mostly covered in composite armour(some was destroyed in the process of crashing in to shit)
I don’t need a fancy pants RV kitchen unit in it when I have a toolset bionic which serves for most things I need for crafting everything else I keep in a trunk, working on getting the materials for recharging station and rechargeable battery mods.
No no. I mean the turrets mounted on the car. I imagine if you have one on each side and you turn them on, they might shoot through the car.
i believe the turret shooting it’s own vehicle issue was fixed as of a couple of days ago. u know for sure that your turrets will no longer shoot you.
