@blaze, you were saying you wanted idea vehicles for the blob stuff:
My post here in this vehicle thread has a zippy little blob car I use for scouting and minor expeditions: http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=11444.msg256207#msg256207
Probably a bit more geared up than what you’re looking for, but most of it is just accessories and tools that don’t need to be on a vanilla version.
For instance, the two standard engines are just for the power boost and for something I can stick alternators on. It’ll move with just the grinder.
The basic chassis is the part that I think you’ll be interested in; two large standard wheels on either side of the seat with a grinder in front and blob wheels on the corners, with a spike-plated blob-frame bumper in front, and optional metal bumper in back like so:
oOo
0#0
o#o
This setup makes for a surprisingly tough little vehicle with a near-zero turning radius and enough speed to get itself into and out of trouble.
That springy front bumper acts like a cow-catcher in that it can shove cars and hulks out of the way with only minor damage to them or itself, but is still lethal to standard zombies above 20 mph. Meanwhile, the two blob turrets on the rear bumper mop up anything that the llantas de las muertos don’t run over. I love my lancers back there, but they did a respectable job back when they were shooters as well. Having two of them was originally to make up for the low damage of the shooters, and now compensates for the low range and fire rate of the lancers. The drive by wire controls come in handy now and then too, letting me call in the cavalry when I need an overwatch or a wall to become a door on short notice. (something else that front bumper is good at)
There ARE blob scoops (The smallest can hold a single zombie corpse which takes up 250 bolume), so you can shoot down zombies, scoop them, butcher them, make blob feed out of their meat/bones, and then make more blobs by feeding them.
Like I said, your construction opportunities will quite literally pile up.
Add a blob shredder that butchers corpses and maybe some automation in terms of construction and Cataclysm: Highly CPU Intensive Blob-Based Snake will finally be playable. Coincidentally while also playing snake on your handheld game console, I assume.
Getting a warningless crash when I try to update blazemod on my existing world (it seems to get through all the red text about the stuff it can’t find in the debug, but then just crashes.)
On a possibly related note, given any thought to legacy support for existing items for the transition, if just so I can swap out my parts before they become obsolete?
Itching to test out the new stuff, but I’ve got a good world going and I’d rather not start over from scratch if I don’t have to.
Fixed Ice Wheel types not adding any bonuses to wheels.
Fixed Earthen roller not being installable.
Fixed Frost Lancer Range
Removed EXTRA_DRAG from blob wheels; they were supposed to supplement a feeding system “engine”, but didn’t work.
Blob stuff weighs less to compensate.
Fixed ballista racks not being installable.
Made blob water tanks hold more (Those turrets are thirsty).
Fixed blob seats not being “BELTABLE”.
Lots of other fixes I can’t recall right now.
Also added backwards compatibility with old blob stuff; when you load the save, they will be broken, but can be removed to get their newer versions.
If you have any old blob stuff in your inventory, install it, then remove it. For those that are growing, let it finish growing, install, then remove.
Are those fixes in the first post link already? post says it was last edited November 15th so I’m not sure.
Okay, have the new build up and running. but there was a small hitch along the way:
Having a blob grinder on my vehicle caused a crash when trying to examine it, so I had to flip back to the old version, remove it, and then flip back to the new version. An attempt to reinstall one just to see what would happen also caused a crash.
Other than that and having to rebuild my blob rig, have had no further issues in the changeover.
Feedback-wise: Dig the new culturing system - not as easy to do batches of parts, but gives a nice connection to the creation process.
Maybe there could be a recipe for breeding batches of the gel, ooze, and grey parts using something like a still or a fermenting vat?
I made it so you can let the blobs feed on either the corpse filled pits in some areas and the slime in the slime pits. Just carry one of the gelatinous/oozing/gray masses and you’ll find the options under “OTHER” on the construction menu. Build it and then smash it to harvest. I might consider letting players build their own breeding pits, but this should do for now.
Uploaded, also uploaded an altered version of Tankmod in order to deal with the issue of missing items.

I can’t seem to replicate the crash issue.
…huh? I thought I’d already unfucked Tankmod to account for that? The PR removing the recipe for ATGM turrets has already been merged a while now. >_>
I can confirm that there are no more debug messages since the new tankmod PR.
Also, I’m not sure I understood what I read correctly, is it possible to pull blobs apart and get multiple blobs to start growing again? If so how do you do it? I’ve been trying all sorts of things with it and can’t figure out how to pull it apart.
Edit: Derp, I tried everything except the disassemble option. I need sleep.
