VF Regen doesn’t actually exist.
That was me being Mean to poor Ninja.
(And risk-aversion was more “I don’t want the game to have serious danger”, not failing to use the regen.)
I have some form of regeneration (probably Very Fast Healing) and use it to wade sword first into whatever horde I’m looking at.
How fast does sleeping heal you? How fast would it be at 1/4 effectiveness? Would VFH be faster than that?
I like the idea of resting, but it would need to be balanced so that it’s useful and doesn’t displace any of the healing mutations.
(Bonus joke idea: Soldier Regeneration - When you take damage you get progressively more blinded by blood. If you spend a few minutes without taking damage, this will fade off and you will regenerate back to full health.)
Sleeping–as distinct from resting–is much more effective w/o mutations than it probably ought to be, and is a major methodd of healing. (Losing this healing is one of the counterbalances to the less-sleep mutations.) If you have a healing-upgrade mutation, sleeping will probably restore you to full health.
So I’m not inclined to give resting any healing bonus. Since using a medpack or bandages takes time, that’s the “rest” that heals. I’d be willing to consider being able to take extra time for a bonus to the First Aid roll, but I don’t think we can easily do that at this point.
