Needful things (simple additions to improve the game)
This may have been suggested before, and may be impossible, but on the slim chance that it hasn’t. Making backpacks and things of that nature have their “own” inventory would be incredibly useful for melee-centric characters. So you can take off and drop whatever encumbering pack you might be wearing in a few turns, along with everything in it. Instead of taking off the pack, and having everything in it remain on your person, encumbering you more. Here is an example, if you will bare with my mediocre writing.

You are running from a Zombie Brute, which is obviously suicide, you’re going to have to fight it. Fighting it with your encumbrance of five would be equally suicidal. The only logical step? Dropping your duffel of loot to allow enough for mobility to stand a chance. You duck into a room, close the door, and slowly start the process of taking every item from your pack and placing it on the ground. Meanwhile, the Brute has broken in and reduced you to a puddle of blood and pulp. As compared to casting off your duffel’o’loot just in time to turn and disintegrate the beast with your unencumbered fists of fury.
It has been, repeatedly.

The only simple thing about it is proposing the idea. We’ve had a few folks attempt it and the only implementation that got anywhere still had enough UI issues that we declined to merge.

And welcome to the forums.

Foolish question: would it be possible to have the game allow multiple items to be dropped in one action, rather than each dropped item being a separate action?

Maybe make rucksacks and such be their own containers, which you activate and then select stuff you want to put in? … But that would be too much work for your survivor if backpacks don’t ovver directly more storage for you, so you would only be able to put small amounts into it thanks to your small inventory… which could be solved if you could directly put things from the ground/around you into it… I could imagine that may be a bit…h to code though

What about an emergency drop option that just drops all carried items for free and then drops all storage items for normal cost?

When you drop an item with a storage capacity, you can also drop an amount of items whose total volume is less than or equal to that item’s storage capacity for no extra action points. It simulates dropping a bag full of stuff this way.

Holy shit nice, thanks.

been curious about this. does it work the same way in reverse. IME it does not, but its been a while since I rly played.

Correct, it does not.

When containers (Box/trunks) on vehicles and things such as lockers are full they should not allow you to put more things in them. Also having the option to put things on top of dressers instead of in them like a lamp or something else useful like a gun/knife

I’ve had problems collecting loot because I would overload a locker without knowing then damaging some of the items when pulling locker and accidentally filling a trunk too full and running over some of the loot.

OMG…so you have to drop the container first? So, drop the container…single action. Next action, drop the amount of stuff over your carry limit at no additional time-cost?

Cause I was just dropping a bag at the same time as the extra items.

Do not know, if simple, but can there be a CBM for recharging character’s energy reserves from vehicle recharging station?

Recharging bed. recharges cbm power and items in your inventory with recharging mod, but only activates and draws power when it detects a body in the bed… slightly faster then charging station.

also perhaphs a robot control in the bed where you can activate it to use a semi Pc where its a robot where it has 12 in all physical stats and your mental stats… 50 storage. and 150 hp and base 10 armor.

I am looking into this!

Shields. Been suggested before but whatever. Requires dual wielding of one handed items of course. Lootable police riot shields. Medieval shields. Craftable shields like a pot lid buckler. Tower shields can be used to defend against acid spit/boomer bile. Most shields would only allow for a one handed item in the other hand. Shields would be wearable on the back to save volume and provide protection. Shield cbm that is installed into your lower arm: expands a superalloy shield that is retractable.

Thats not a simple addition though rookie :stuck_out_tongue:

Ugh. I know. But…needful ;_;

I second this. It takes too long to get back to full power with anything other than an internal furnace, and that’s only if I cut down a tree and devour it.

Some way to return “home” and recharge would be nice.

Heated beds using batteries (dont judge me if its already inhame ;D)

I suggest heated vehicular beds. As vehicle power is gud.
Also, internal vehicle heating and air conditioning, for bad weather on the drive or installed in your home base.
…Maybe foldable variants for descending ice labs?

There was a recent addition for full thermal outfit, but I like all those ideas about heated beds and climate control! ;D

If I wasn’t knee deep in inventory code I’d check that out!
