It’s the future and these are vastly superior military tools than what our troops have currently. So obviously they’d have immigrated over here with the military being everywhere.

It’s a folding shovel that also can be used to chop things, folded & thrown as a grapple, folded for use as pliers, and probably half a dozen other uses.
KA101 holds out for the griddle shovel, so he can dig the firepit and then cook his pancakes with one handy tool!

Guys…this is standard definition of sapper shovel, heck I have two at home.
They are good for small boat trips and similar camping trips since they take less space than all these tools combined. They are not bad per se - they are unwieldy. Due to small handle (designed for mobility and less encumbrance) you will spend a ton more energy doing all these tasks.
Yes its a shovel - yes you can dig with it. Digging a 1m deep hole in the ground with it will be a torture.
Yes its a pick\hoe - but using it for something large you can kiss your back goodbye: watch the video and look at soldier stance.
At the same time:
They are good for digging out places for campfire, burying waste, gathering kindling, and creating basic camping tools (stakes for the tent etc) essentially stuff that takes 10 min or less of work due to aforementioned problems.
