When I tried using a 55 gallon drum and a funnel to have a laaaarge supply of water on hand at all times, I found that I later could not directly pour or interact with that container of water in any way except to use it as a resource when crafting.
It would be great to be able to access the container somehow and drain it or pour from it without having to be able to pickup 800 lb’s of water at once.
press ‘E’ to examine the barrel of water and having a list pop up with : ‘scoop to container’ and ‘pour on ground’ or something.
As it currently is, when I upgrade to a mobile death fortress, I end up having to leave that water barrel behind.
Pretty sure you can already interact with them in most ways (such as unloading) by simply standing on them and using the advanced inventory management. (Or at least through the “unload” menu).

i agree with you, i’d want that too. You can still attach 55 gallon drums as external water tanks though.

I thought you could only do this when the drum or metal tank or whatever was empty?
Because siphon is a part of the vehicle menu. It wouldn’t make sense to implement vehicle menu for items just for that one function that wouldn’t allow you anything you couldn’t achieve by standing over the drum and 'U’nloading it without anything in hands.
