How did you last die?

I was at the end of autumn, and I had everything in my base I might need except for a few mechanics supplies. Between the many, many ant-mounds and the triffids, nothing was coming deep enough into the forest to bother me anywhere near my LMOE shelter. So I decided to explore, find some action. Fully mutated post-threshold Cephalopod. Spent all week doing it IRL. Cleared out half a mall. Played with some of the (scary) new monsters. Bapped around Zombears like they were -nothing-. Pretty great.

Then a single, ordinary, entirely alone, shocker zombie stuns me and eats me alive while Iā€™m stunned.

#@!$!@#$!@#!$@# Iā€™m still upset. It was a lot of freaking work mutating into a cephalopod, and I never even found a damn river to play in. Not looking forward to a whole week of trying to get back there again.

Oh, you really wanna know? :-)))

I had some fun with this Missed character. I didnā€™t even have to run, picked up some clothes and whacked a coupleā€™a Zs to get a weapon. Went straight for this hospital on the outskirts to clear it in record time. Got a mint-car right away, started gathering resources and stumbled upon this motel. As soon as I attacked the glass screen keeping the sodas away from me, a cop-bot appearedā€¦
ā€¦ and whoop-whoopā€™d my ass to oblivion.

My evacuee char had it perfect. Besides a working car just outside the shelter, and very juicy bionics besides a m-blackbox he even found some clean shorts and a can of nice soup, and some sweets for after-lunch. I saw this Wasp, but I didnā€™t mind it - there was even a coyote which proved less of an oponent; the flying bug stung me, blinded me and killed my helpless, makeshift-crowbar-wielding survivor. Four turns of toe-to-toe, not much else.

Dang it.

Reason #332 why I tend to play with the mundane zombies mod on. o3o

I can feel the pain from this one from here.

First day out of shelter, shocker brute, before that, my shelter led into an ant hill, and while I got out one of the ordinary giant ants decided to follow me until my hunger and thirst made it capable of catching up and kill me. Before that a few days in, having found an MBR with super alloy, NPC shows up demands me to drop my weapon and run, which I do and then he one shots me in the torso.
So a bit of an unlucky streak going currently.

Wasps to the left of me, spiders to my right, here I am, stuck in the middle with Hulk.

Sing that line, and you pretty much get the gist of most of the games Iā€™ve tried to start lately.

I opened my front door and found a zombie bio-operator standing outside. A squirrel also lurked nearby, and I suspect the food of arranging my demise.

Ok, this is a cool way to end a roguelike game. One of the most interesting randomly generated games Iā€™ve had with CataDDA.

Checked the ā€œMissedā€ scenario for extra fun and chose the Groom character for one extra point with the First Aid skill.
Spawned inside someoneā€™s garage. Besides some meaningless tools to leave behind, there were some batteries, a screwdriver with a hammer and a cutting implement. Right in the centre of the garage there was a polisher and, get this, a perfect pair of rollerblades. Being that I recently went back to rollerblading myself, dress shoes had to go off and I started putting the wheels on my character. A couple of bangs on the garage door reminded me I had to beat it as soon as possible.

Did I mention the house was located in the midst of an average-sized town? I pulled a lever, and an acid streak filled the room up. I fired up the Running mode and skated past the pack of undeadZ and to the West. There were all sorts of Zs around, just pouring onto the street I was racing on, with mild injuries to both my feet (the blades were left intact). At the far-west end of the street there was a lone Necro-Z to be dealt with. I smashed my character into him and beat him to death with my bare fists, moments before a more athletic Z had attempted a bite on my behind. A dead end street some hundred feet away proved to be a secure shelter from hungry eyes, whereas I could safely remove the rollerblades and put my dress shoes back on.

After a short period of time spent on walking the dirt fields I came back for a quick run through the suburbs. Smashed a window and entered a bedroom with some downstairs; had some refreshing to do, so I searched the house and came back for a flashlight (right there on the dresser) and went down the flight of stairs. One of the sweetest sights I had in years of CataDDA-ing - a cellar crammed with guns, mods, straps, gunslinger tools and ammo. Got a .38, modded it a bit and holstered the loaded gun. Hungry for more, I went across the street and found yet another flight of stairs going down. I just couldnā€™t help myself (and a holstered gun) so I went for it.

The room was stuck with thick smoke, but that didnā€™t stop my character - I went on bashing some undead-heads, scouting for those Smoker Zs to beat. Point blankā€™d two green letters, when a Smoker starts climbing my back. My .38 didnā€™t work on them, so my character got surrounded with several gray Zs, fist-fighting them to the very end.

It was worth it.

ā€œOh wow, a whole evac shelter stuffed full of food, clothing, equipment and even weapons, this must be the best start I ever had. Lets check ā€˜mā€™ to see the local areaā€¦ Iā€™m in the middle of a city? wait, is that thumping I hear on the north doorā€¦ and the west, east, south, the windows and oh my god there are so many of them!ā€

boomers, spitters, zombie cops, soldiers and just the ordinary Z were all rushing into my cosy evac shelter. It wasnā€™t quite in the middle, but in a sort of U shaped ā€˜nature zoneā€™ surrounded on most sides by shops and housing

Lab run - going well, pretty good equipment, lots of lab to explore, not too many turrets, found 3 long strings, found a pack of BACONS and a large jar of jelly, so I had enough food, but everything kept hitting my head, and I just couldnā€™t find a helmet (usually, Iā€™ve found at least 3 by the time Iā€™m out). Thatā€™s ok, Iā€™m just avoiding combat for a bitā€¦

bash my way out, step to the edge of the facility (not even onto the dirt yet), and BOOM, dead - worm, waiting for me on the dirt. SERIOUSLY??

I woke up to a Mi-Go bashing down a door. As I had completely boarded up the house I was currently staying in, the only way out was blocked by the Mi-Go. I died frantically trying to bash down a new exit while the Mi-Go caved my face in.

Stealers Wheel?

My character was trying to uninstall a Bionic Nostril. Died in the privacy of my base from too much head damage while trying to get rid of it.

An npc with an uzi gunned me down after I crashed my personal armored carrier into a house she was staying at.

Shouldā€™ve lightly bumped into the house, backed up, THEN rammed all the things when she came out.

Amigara horrors have ended me.
This hole was not made for me after all.

In Soviet Russia, the hole fits into you?

Pretty much. Drr-drr.

Day 1. I hesistantly leave the shelter, to the sight of another survivor running at me. This usually means they want to steal my stuff or kill me or steal my stuff AND kill me, but since he has several weapons and armor and I have basically nothing, I hope for the best and start a conversation. Lucky for me, he asks for help, something is chasing him. Well, why not, how bad could it be? A Jabborwock? aw man.

On a lab run on a different playthrough, by the usual dumb mistake. I start off pretty well. Piled in negative traits for some combat skills, some first aid, and computers. The rest go to stats and some good traits.

Started off beating a couple of manhacks, and found a combat knife in one of them. Then I find a CBM room, and thatā€™s where the few points I put in computer come to play. I manage to open up the storage, and holy crap there was a lot of CBMs. Every basic utility I could use in the near future, plus power storage. Then I found another CBM room with more power storages. I got some damage off the CBMs that has a not-horrible chance of failure, but all in all it worked out.

Food and water was easy. Enough clean water around, and as for food my character was a cannibal. Got a lighter from a starting NPC, butchered some wood for skewers, and got me some cooked creeps from the human bodies in the lab.

Then I found the mutagens. Even with genetically unstable, I think, well robust genetics should even it out, and so it did. I got nausea from my weak stomach trait, but my night vision jumped to full night vision. Aw yeah!

Thenā€¦ I find the exit upstairs. I take a few steps, and since the turret isnā€™t beeping even as I stood in the middle room doors, I reckon I had a shot at it. Iā€™ll toss some junk at it, maybe some bottles of acid, and hope for the best.

And thatā€™s when I forgot to slowly go about things and walked into one of the rooms that had a turret. Oops.
