How did you last die?

Day 13 after not finding a refugee center after 12 straight days of exploring i decided to grab my sniper all the improvised grenades C4 and dynamite i had in the back of my truck and decided i would try to learn some lore about the story of how cataclysm came to be, went into a science lab… I got threw about 40-ish rooms and then died after i ran out of morphine and med-kits and opened yet another door to find yet another turret waiting for me.

R.I.P. Ivan, your days of hopeless search are over.

Death at the end of great struggle was always rewarding to me.
I hope that run was as fun to you as it would have been to me.

Sorry about the death, and welcome to the forums. :-/

Day 46, after having discovered just how devastating high level archery is…after having built my indestructible death wagon…after having found a refugee camp…I discovered what graboids are. Items of note: 1) Forgot to bring proper drugs. 2) Archery is ineffective against burrowers. 3) Adrenaline CBM lasts a very short amount of time. 4) Graboids are faster than I am :frowning:

I was driving my modified and fully repaired apc (the seat was fitted with a 5 point harness) when suddenly I crashed through the windshield and died. Never found out what caused it.

Later I got killed in the same vehicle when my diesel tank exploded for no reason at all.

All the important parts on the car are armored with superalloy and in good repair. Are some of the artifacts I collected doing this?

Not exactly last time, but on too many times to count I ended up blowing myself up with c4 whenever I forgot to throw/drop the damn thing in the heat of a fight. Made a few epic encounters end with a bang, in more ways than one.

Seatbelt?

I had an artifact on me that made me invisible. Perhaps it phased me out of the 5 seat like in a propability travel? But that still does not explain the exploding diesel tanks

I’ve been tossed 2x in my vehicle from a 5 point. (no broken windshield) and I got debug errors.

I bug reported it.

I’m trying to figure out why/how. mine I don’t think was an actual crash toss, because the debug happens because it thinks I’m still inside.

Also Diesel doesn’t explode, it has a low vapor pressure, it can happen, but it’s in very specific conditions. This is why it’s used in submarines and many other marine areas where confined vapors in the bottom of a ship from a leak is an issue.

If the game is having diesel tanks explode as easily as gasoline there is an issue.

Suicide by mininuke, after I wrecked a pedal-powered ballista in the midst of a horde.

Burned to death in a full set of unpowered heavy power armor when the tankbot I was fighting shot my .308 incendiary rounds out of the air in a firefight.
Damn the UPS for taking up so much inventory, I didn’t make it to my motorcycle in time to grab it and activate the power armor.

On a different playthrough, died after getting launched into a tree by a zombie brute. Somewhat epic that I started on a mall cop scenario. NPC there had a katana, which I got since he rushed into the horde. Managed to smash my way outside via luck, but all the zombies were after me. Got chased to a forest where I did my final stand. I had a lighter, so I decided to light them up. Was gonna die anyway since three body parts were infected. Burned every tile where a zombie might approach, cutting up zombies as I moved further into the forest. Pain was going up and up, but since the forest was thick I managed to reduce encounters a little.

In the end, one zombie brute took too long to burn and I got smashed. Though, as a consolation prize the brute died from the fire, looking through the last moments of the players life.

UPS cbm, lot of storage bionics, ethanol burner, booze

power armor powered by alcochol

Chose the Burning Building scenario in a bank.

Headed for the nearest window

Rubble collapsed on me within two turns

Couldn’t free myself from the rubble

Burned alive within one in-game minute

I was in a -142 Celsius lab, and got killed by a Shaggohoth or something named similar. I tried to run, but there wasn’t a thing I could do to make it go away. Mini-flamethrowers, zombie pheromones, adrenaline pump, trying to shoot and hit it with a nodachi… I was powerless. I met it on the way up from a CBM storage. Tried to take a shorter route, the upstairs went straight into a Shaggohoth’s prison. What I should have done was mini-flamethrower the heck around me so to warm me up, adrenaline pump to speed me up at the right time, and then give it hell/run.

Learned my lesson, though.

It was late at night, and I was attempting to steal some gear left on the ground near a roadblock with turrets. Feeling crafty, I lured a bunch of zombies to the turrets so the turrets would be distracted (and hopefully use up all their ammo). As the battle raged, I sneakily crept just outside the illuminated space inside the turrets’ LOS. I then loaded my trusty L12 defender with some slugs and prepared to open fire. This was the first time I had ever done this, so I was kinda giddy and feeling cocky.

Then my hand slipped and I hit the wrong button, accidentally stepping into the turret’s LOS. I was perforated instantly. Oops.

-Did another Burning Building start

-Found a working car

-Drove it for a bit, approached a police barricade on a road in the middle of the forest

-Thought that I could use my car to take cover from the turrets, let them run out of ammo, and loot the dead cops

-My car did not (effectively) work as cover.

And that’s why we need an option to crouch behind objects.

Don’t know if this helps, but I usually install curtains on all of my windshields so if I get surprised by turrets while driving, I can just close them so they can’t see me

Nomad character and NPC continue to be delicious, according to the T. Rex wandering around the swamps.

Burning building is a major crap shoot. I’ve literally died on the first turn several times, and I don’t have enough turns to leave the building by the straightest route about 10-20% of the time.

I just died by STUPIDLY walking into an already-discovered turret room in a BEAUTIFUL lab challenge start. First floor, two mansions nearby outside, found 5+ useful early game books, found a LONG ROPE for goodness sake (turn that into HOW many long string?? yeah, way more than enough for that homewrecker…)… and then, in my rush to go craft it at the nearest terminal, opened a door in that I ALREADY knew was a turret, marked it on my map and everything… instadead.

STUPID ME. so mad at myself right now.
