1st time playing: Thought Bionic Sniper would be a cool profession. Didn’t know how to activate bionics. Missed quite a bit while trying to snipe zombies. Got mauled by an army of zombies.

2nd time playing: Found a working car on a bridge and drove it. Didn’t know how to control the car. Drove it straight into a river and drowned.

3rd time playing: “What happens if I step on this mound of dirt?”

4th time playing: Picked the Mall Cop scenario, spawned in the middle of a field. Approached a building with turrets.

“Maybe the turret won’t see me.”

5th time playing: Chose the Cop profession. I shot friggin’ everything to death and then I ran out of ammo and got mauled by zombies.

6th time playing: Chose the Army Recruit profession. I shot friggin’ everything to death and then I ran out of ammo and got mauled by zombies.

7th time playing: I learned the hard way that being a Blackbelt =/= being completely invincible in hand-to-hand combat.

8th time playing: Still didn’t learn my lesson with mounds of dirt.

9th time playing: “I can probably kill that bear as long as I have this weapon.”

I wonder if, between necessity, common available materials, and personal biases concerning “Welp, the world fell apart”, if there is a typical item a survivor would most often go for? I mean, surely there’s a few folks who concluded “Ehh, now’s as good a time as any to make a shit-ton of fire”, but I have to wonder if guns and knives wouldn’t be most predominant. Based on no statistics whatsoever. Personally, I’ve rarely run into a flamethrower npc as of late.

I know this is a little bit of an older post, but I think we need Mosin Nagants for this exact reason… They’re incredibly rugged, ammo is plentiful, 37 MILLION were built, and they cost about 150 bucks. I was surprised to not see them at all, but it should be a fairly common starter weapon.

Mosin-Nagants are amazing. Their ammo does shitloads of damage and has batshit insane range, and they’re easily modded down to zero Dispersion so you can pick things off at the limits of your vision and actually stand a chance of hitting. Next to this thing assault rifles mostly look like a waste of gunpowder.

IRL they were occasionally used to shoot down planes. They break armor plates and have a longer range than an M4.

Just used some C4 to breach into a lab in hopes of forsaking the marloss, noticed I’d managed to bomb my way into a turret room. Peaked around the corner, with a Ballistic Face Mask, Ballistic Goggles, An Army Helmet, a MBRV With Steel inserts

and then was greeted by what I can only assume was two consecutive days of 9mm fire which quickly reduced my torso health to 0.

Was riding along in my test vehicle on the edge of the city doing around 90, crashing into zombies left and right, when suddenly the controls went out. Made it safely out of the city before crossing the longest field ever, then finally crashed in a fiery explosion into the forest on the next overmap.
