18 days in the Very Bad Day scenario, NPC spawn on. I’m driving my car around and I spot an npc. I drive up near him and get his quest to go kill his zombie mom. He’s south oh my car, I see a Tough Zombie in the window of a house to the north. Decide to stop and step out of my car to go kill the Tough Zombie in the windo, just so he doesn’t kill my quest giving NPC while I’m gone completing his quest. I failed to notice that the NPC was wilding an Assault Rifle. I take 3 steps out of my car in quick succession, and before I realize the error in that decision, NPC goes full auto on the Tough zombie, With no regard to the fact that I’m standing in between. That really pissed me off, If I had only just kept driving and leave the NPC to his own devices everything would have most likely been fine.
This is why I turn those lighter-eating monstrosities known as NPC’s off.
On NPCs sucking, I believe the word of even the devs (KA101, at least–my apologies if I’m wrong here, KA) is that at present dynamic NPCs just aren’t implemented well enough to be more help than harm. There are static NPCs that actually have questlines and such (found at refugee centres; I don’t know if there are any other places where static NPCs spawn aside from refugee centres and the single starting NPC you get), but randoms are a pain in the ass. I turn static NPCs on and leave dynamic NPCs off, myself.
I also hate how NPCs wield semi-automatic pistols like assault rifles and RAT A TAT TAT GAME OVER TO A TRIPLE HEADSHOT FROM A BERETTA M9 (that actually happened)

That’s an accurate summation of what I’ve said re the NPC situation, and that’s how I have my NPCs configured.
Firearms can fire more than once per 6 seconds: wear a watch and check if you like. To NPCs and critters, you’re firing a lot in your turn when you shoot them.
Oh, well, fair enough.
I’m just still kind of seething over it because if it had been one head shot I actually might have survived given that the individual shots were doing damage in the 20s, but man, three in a row (and then three or four more shots after that). RNGesus really had it out for me that night. Stumble upon a hostile survivor in the dark who turns out to be a gun ninja.
Granted I kinda-sorta got my revenge on the game when the bratling beat some asshole with a pipe rifle to death with a nailbat, but still.

Hmm?
I died last from having a go at a recent experimental build.
And finding out the hard way shocker zombies seem to be buffed D:
Died on day one trying to best a cop bot with my wooden needle.
As far as I can tell, cheating by spawning a fully-working IFV was a bad idea.
Your Mechanized Infantry Carrier’s externally mounted diesel tank rams into a tree.
You’re deafened!
From the southeast you hear a huge explosion!
The Mechanized Infantry Carrier’s military composite armor is destroyed! x4
You’re caught in the explosion!
That is officially the most painful death I have seen ever.
hacked through a lab wall beside a turret. died on the spot

The bad news is that curtailed my experiments in determining whether vehicle speed affects driving experience gain. The good news is I proved my hypothesis that offroading is a bad idea. o3o
And proved that my modded-in Roman armor does jack shit against explosions, as expected.

I’ve seen 3000 before somewhere. My personal record was 2123 or something, decided to mininuke myself when a fungal infection kicked in to go out with style.
One time I got around 3000 when I got shot 13 times in the chest with 120mm HEATs.
Now that would be sheer overkill.

If he was playing M.M.R. (Marloss Man Reborn) then he most likely survived it. If not then yes.

No, I died. That was when I was testing tank drones in a different file, so it doesn’t count. Also, 120mm HEAT has been buffed since then, so I can’t survive even one now.
Hmm… I wonder if reinforced heavy power armour and a super tanky character could survive it. I would test, but I can’t get that sort of gear out of my ass and I never use the debug tool. Apart from doing the J-41.
I think I might have a suit of heavy power armor, but HEAT does a little less than 10000 damage. There is no surviving that.
My most OP character to date was felled by a foolish attack with a fusion rifle that led to the bottom floor of a lab collapsing onto me. This is the problem with carrying a bow and a fusion rifle…I really ought to pay more attention to which I’m wielding. I had like 40 marloss berries in my trunk, several gallons of mutagen, a diamond katana, food for a decade in-game, a monster of a vehicle, and pretty much every useful CBM. RIP randomly named character whose name I think might have been Eddie
