Tried to test out artifacts inside the temple vault where I found them. It exploded the vault and teleported me into solid rock.
Fortunately, I save-scummed, and when I returned to the vault, one side of the wall was bloody. Jackhammering into the wall reveals a whole patch of blood seeping though the stone, where the previous me had presumably been imploded and entombed. But no corpse was left, nor can I recover those artifacts. :(

THIS IS THE ONLY TIME THE WIKI WAS USEFUL
THE WIKI LITERALLY SAYS TO “NOT GO UNDERGROUND TO TEST ARTIFACTS, BECAUSE YOU MAY BE TELEPORTED INTO SOLID ROCK”.
Stupid deaths make me mad.
shrugs
At that time, I was like, “Hm, what are the odds that it’ll have teleportation as an ability? 1 in 20? And I’m too lazy to climb up the stairs. Nah, I’ll just try it out here…”
One time I tested an artifact in a mine after getting it from an amigara fault. I teleported into a wall - but I ended up in a tiny pocket of air in the stone. I was so relieved.
Found out why people avoid swamps like the plague.
Blasted slugs…
after getting high skills is basicaly just free meat
I did have high-ish skills, along with a lot of stacked armor from trench coats (which is how I survived long enough to get 4000 pain instead of just 500.) and I had a broad sword, really wish I decided to carry a gun for that play through, or at least have ammo for a gun, guns always get me out of stuff like this.
Freaking meese! (I suppose that’s the plural for Moose, right?)
I start with Challenge - Really Bad Day, on Experimental.
I run to a shelter out of the city, increase my tailoring a bit, wait for night time to go scavenge for some pharmaceutics (no Pharmacy, though, darn).
Finally get a couple of First Aid Kits… Manage to cure my green left arm (I didn’t even know I could without antibiotics).
Influenza finally goes away.
I find myself at the dawn of the second day, with a recovering shower victim that’s throwing up all the time… Character has got amazing stats (14/14/14/12). I feel it’s too dangerous to go into town during daytime, so… I go for the nearby forest.
A horny moose wanders by and impales my eye-sockets on its antlers.
One of those things you learn as a Canadian early on: the geese hate you, and so do all the moose.
Are there geese in Cata?
Back on topic, I still haven’t lost Zach Tailor to the zeds yet. He’s partway into autumn, and slowly figuring out how the truck to build a car. Figured out the menu, but deciding where parts need to be attached for sanity has been anything but sane. Plus side: shopping cart named the Bollicky Rollicker is for now.
Zach snuck into town during the day, and snuck out under cover of darkness in scavenging for scrap so he could build more vehicle parts and a chemistry kit. He hit a landmine. He doesn’t understand why anyone would dig up perfectly good roadway to add landmines, and assumed the dirt was the work of those giant worms he’d been avoiding.
Nope. Shrapnel everywhere in his damn body, BUT HE’S STILL NOT DEAD. Hooray for chitin armour! So much pain, though. Maybe I’ll finally manage to get him killed once I’m done this weekend’s school workload.
Aww, thank you! I miss not being burnt out on art. I’ll probably come back and do more doodles after semester’s done. Lots of time for me to sleep then.
I may have accidentally taken that question seriously XD. It’s something I get asked a lot from anybody new to the language, without fail. (I tend to hang in the language department lounge on campus between classes, this may be the entirety of my problem lol)
Greasy delicious goose, mmm. I like to think they’d be incredibly hostile but do very little damage haha. Personal experience talking. Maybe they still migrate south (away) in late autumn and aren’t around in winter? That’d be neat, seasonal critters.
PS: still not dead yet. Zach is going to attempt to craft some flavoured mutagens, after much scavenging for both the books to do it, and the supplies. If he doesn’t turn into a radioactive self-disintegrating goo, I’ll be impressed.
I’ve got recently lost a character to an infection. Got it on day one or two, when he was murdering zombies behind the bush with my pointy stick. When he did get infected, I tried to fight through the infection with vitamins, but the wound turned green. I was like, well great, so I got him drunk and happy and suicided him by attacking a zombie brute. He even managed to kill like 3 zombies before dueling it with the soon to-be his murder, Mr. Zombie-brute.
Since, I’am too reckless with my characters, I’ve got them murdered a lot ever since turning on hordes. But hey, it’s enjoyable as it’s a nice challenge I have to try and overcome ;).
Cadmium: I don’t know that vitamins will do anything. Deep wounds need to be cleaned, either through disinfectant, a first aid kit, or barring better options, cauterization with a knife and a heat source. Once infected it’s up to finding antibiotics. :c Sorry if you knew that already and just had no supplies - it’s a tricky one for newcomers.
Thanks for the help, even if I do know said informations, I died due to being unprepared and reckless. I did try cauterization, but it was too late, since I was already infected. It’s most likely I got the wound and ignored it. Having no antibiotics is what killed me.
On another note, I had another character, named Stewart Nicholson, who died to a mi-go because of lack of good head protection >:.
Ran over a mine. Survived 49 days, with 560 kills, including a shocker brute. Best run so far! Might play a non-roleplaying game next.
Ironically, I think I would have been able to spot it, had I not had my gas mask on so that I didn’t get choked out on my smoke grenade. Which was more useless than I had ever imagined. If I hadn’t had it on, I probably would have spotted it.
Maybe. What is the chances for detection of mines?
(As an aside, WOW smoke grenades are underpowered, as of three-ish weeks ago. I deployed one as I was holding it, it exploded, and didn’t even completely obscure my vision. By the time I had driven out of the smoke field on my bike, which took all of 9 seconds, I could see through the smoke field. It had completely dissipated in 30 seconds.)
I always found the grenade’s biggest advantage was helping to create a break in my scent trail when being chased by zeds. The few times I found them, anyway. I’ll have to see if Zach has any books that will let him craft some, and see what you’re talking about re- their underpowered-ness. I don’t want him to die but I’m getting way ballsier in how I play him for lack of death.
Anti-tank gun decided it was done letting me exist. Blew about a third of my character’s chest out in one shot. Pretty sure the other one blew her arm off.
Those guns are just mean. Just a mean element. Bloody things don’t even shoot Zed’s and are guaranteed to just POP you’re done. Just like that. Doesn’t matter at all what you do.
Really fucking stupid idea…at least have them shoot EVERYTHING that isn’t supposed to be there!
Was exploring a small town and spotted a wrecked car up against the side of a building. It had something in the trunk, so I flipped up the back door to have a look. Didn’t notice the Hulk who stepped around the corner of the building until he was up in my face. Or maybe it was my other end as I was bending over to look in the trunk.
Whatever the case my face (and the rest of the sack of broken bones that used to be my body) were sent hurtling -through- the car to their new permanent resting place in the middle of the street.
