Guns you would like to see added to the game?

How about the Barret M99?

one thing i’d actually like to see is the AK-107 Which is a balanced recoil AK in 5.45x39 which basically has 0 vertical/rotational recoil because of its gas system, which would be neat to see in-game as a kind of semi-rare rifle.
When did this become another gun pron debate? thread WAY derailed.

As for guns I’d like to see? I have 2 from the same game that i’d love for flavor:

1st Killzone basic ISA and Helghast rifles. i LOVED the helghast weapons and the ISA had a cool assault rifle also.
The Helgast’s weapons were so much better in that game. I don’t even think I used the ISA weapons half the time. Though the suppressed sub-machine gun was nice.

Space Nazis ftw.

more futuristic weaponry would be pretty sweet. having lots of variations of very similar guns wouldn’t actually damage the game (so long as the spawn rates were adjusted accordingly so the same quantity and proportion of different gun calibres spawned) but it would be man hours to implement and would only add somthing for a very specific demographic of people.

is it just me or is the USP9 the most common handgun possible? I found a store with 6 of them once and I rarely don’t find one. spawn rate seems a bit high, considering the USP 9 is considerably less popular than some 9x19 handguns.

Also one thing regarding ammo: i’d like to see Surplus ammo Kind of like in Fallout new vegas, slightly weaker than normal ammo, but comes in bulk (100 rounds maybe?) and can occasionally be found in gunstores in the back room maybe?

I think the game needs a pipe shotgun. Two pipes and a hacksaw and maybe a nail. I’d second a muzzle loader as well and a way to craft one.

Futuristic firearms should just replace the roles the odd ball antique guns have in the game, like the .22lr submachine. Any energy weapons or really sci-fi type gun should be interesting to use, not just a pew-pew lazer version of a regular gun. They should work like a ranged jackhammer that blows apart walls, like the eye enemy does, or the shots instantly set the targeted square/ target on fire. A microwave energy cannon that boils crowds of zombies. Something.

And to balance them out, good firearms should be more scarce. Futuristic gun control, so gun stores and zombies, houses have mostly low end shotguns, hunting rifles and revolvers and not so much powerful assault rifles and full-auto submachine guns everywhere. Makes the game too easy with all the exotic high end weapons all over the place.

+1. guns are great (ahem, in a zombie apocalypse) but yes, you can pretty much wail on anything early on because of this reason.

Actually im pretty sure that’s something that was mentioned in the old cataclysm, before the events that lead up to ZAMBIEZ AND DEMONZ AND STUFF A lot of things were un-restricted, which was one of the reasons of explaining assloads of guns and drugs.

also,

implying anyone follows gun control laws to a T.

Yeah that one annoyed me too. But I just changed it in the JSON to a Berretta 92/M9.

Speaking of which I’ll work on seeing if I can’t add in that muzzle loader. Just a question of whether it can use “charges” of power like the railgun uses from the UPS.

Advantages:
make ammo from any other ammo
no casings to pickup
high tissue disruption = good damage

Disadvantages:
Reloading
Loud
Low velocity = low AP

I feel that there are plenty of modern-era variations in the game, already, including some that should only spawn in a museum. However, I would like to see more low technology, advanced technology or alien weaponry added to the game.

^ This.

Yeah, but it makes the game a bit easy to have all the military type weapons everywhere and it makes the lower end firearms less relevant. It should be some kind of challenge or element of luck to stock up on the best firearms, while the more hunting-type weapons should be easier to find. So the dead gangsters and LMOE shelters should keep their contraband weapons, stores and most houses/ zombies should be carrying the democrat-approved firearms. The apparent super-permissive gun laws in the game seems kind of an unlikely thing to happen in the future, but I suppose it does explain all the antiquated foreign military rifles and sub machineguns that’d otherwise never be found in the USA.

I always figured that once they started utilizing robots (or energy weapons), it was less important to keep gun control laws so strict, not that they’re very strict now, also notice how quickly a gang of robots shows up if somebody breaks into the wrong building.
Maybe I’m just unlucky but it’s a bit difficult to take out a half dozen robots (and/or manhacks) with some spears, a crowbar, or a weak pistol.
Barring high level skills, of course, as those are incredibly OP.

ah yes police bots have killed me many a time when trying to break into a bank, also while you often can find things like AK’s and SMG’s in gun stores, since 0.5 Ive been in and out of about 7 gun stores now and the best thing Ive found is a MP5, and early on even if you have a real neat M4A1 carbine or a smg of some kind, unless you have a decent gun skill you’re going to be wasting ammo missing, over and over, so while when you get better with your skills things get easier, you can set more difficult goals for yourself like clearing towns the big thing in cataclysm is the startup difficulty, its sort of like starting a company when you think about it you start out small and growing slowly, but you face a lot of opposition like someones trying to buy you out, and once you get rolling things get easier, while you still have a chance of failure. (enemies faster than you or ranged damage will still mess you up trying to fight turrets and a horde of the undead is no easy task even with a FN-FAL and some 7.62x51 nato)

A few more weapons that are meant to be sniper, something like a VSS Vintorez in particular, rather than hunting rifles re-purposed into sniper rifles. It would be a matter of finding a crashed helicopter or a military bunker/base, since you wouldn’t often see one inside a gun shop.

Back to the original question, I’d love to see some sort of .308 scout rifle added. Whether it was the savage, steyr or ruger version isn’t really important (in reality I think the ruger might give it the best trade off of pros and cons for the sake of balance); I just think it’s a class that could have some use. The short barrel length could make it take up a lower volume when it’s stored, make it do less damage than any other .308 and make it very loud.

Pros:
Bolt action accuracy
Detachable magazine reload time
Low maintenace (if they decide to implement it)
Small volume
Low weight

Cons:
Loud
Relatively low damage for a .308
Bolt action, so it has a low rate of fire

I think it’d fill a neat little niche in that game that the BLR doesn’t quite fit in. By the way, I want gun porn and I’m not ashamed of it.

Got a new one incase this thread isn’t considered necro by now.

Lahti L-39 - 20×138mmB

At 2:47 you can see a comparison to a 50 BMG round. Although I like the rareness of the M4 and its 50 BMG ammo it would be nice to have this beast in there somewhere.

Is Single Action Army Revolver present in game?

Yeah…

A gun that fires one bullet made out of a tungsten exterior with a quadcore micron-sized computer guidance system, and a neutronium fuel source that seeks out everything living, moving, or breathing, or any of the above, and just shoots it all to death. Only need one bullet, but it kills everything.

Still need to work the kinks out.

Better say that you found an artifact that saps life energy from anything nearby (turning them into shadows for extra bonus.) no need to explain with insane science what can be easily hand waved (and done more elegantly) by invoking the supernatural.
