Gods of the Cataclysm (Challenge Thread)

By the way, regarding the death mobile milestone… would it count if I had built a massive-ish truck. 25 cargo carriers for loading up on loot, and the vehicle itself is all heavy duty-frames and clad in military composite armor; with steel treads and roller drums for wheels powered by dual V12 engines. It doesn’t have mounted weapons, but it can pretty much kill a crowd of zombies by running through them - can even make a zombie hulk explode into bits.

And with regards to eating a zombie hulk - does it count if the meat is cooked first, or does it have to be eaten raw?

  1. Post a picture of it and we’ll see. It sounds like a yes though.
  2. You can cook hulks? Is this new?

  3. Here she is, the Juggernaut.

Safe speed is 125 mph, which is still pretty good even when it’s got five roller drums installed. Also made several rubber and steel caterpillar tracks. Making all those chains took forever…

  4. Well, you can make tainted tornado from tainted meat, and tainted tallow from fat.

  1. That counts.
  2. That doesn’t count.

  1. Darn. Oh well.

Anyway, would this count for the martial arts milestone? All of them were learned via books.

Also have have the close quarters battle bionic. If it counts, that brings the total amount of martial arts styles to 12 (13 if brawling counts).

When I get home today I will attempt for my 3rd 4th 5th at godhood.

Here’s an idea for a challenge, or perhaps it would fit better as a milestone:

Get X amount of photos taken in a camera. Exceptional pictures only.

Not sure what number would be the best, since I’m not sure how many creatures there are in the game. Getting all the pics would be a bit too much.

Maybe exceptional photos of maybe two entire species? Zombies and Animals, nether creatures, etc.

I don’t know how many martial arts are in the game any more. Whatever, you pass.

That sounds great! I’ll put up a challenge if anyone gives me a number.

Feels more like a milestone, like maxing out a cash card.

Anyway, for numbers… like how about 60-75? But among those pictures there has to be certain creatures included in the picture collection; like rare and/or dangerous enemies - like a tank drone for difficulty, or the festering boar for rarity.

Top of my head, creatures that would be rare/difficult to take a picture of:
-The Thing, during it’s base dog form. Might be hard to capture on camera, since it explodes into the tentacle dog once it senses you.
-All four irridated wanderers. You can’t really tell the difference between the four, aside from the fact that one has a differently colored name and glows in the dark.
-The Thriller. Might be surrounded by dancers which can block the camera.
-Deer. Since they’re fast and tend to run away from you.

Stuff like that. 'course, difficulty is subjective, and you don’t need to fight the creatures, just take their picture. The camera seems to work quite well, even when it’s dark.

How many creatures are in the base game? I haven’t played vanilla in ages.

Around 240-250+. Simply counted by looking at the debug screen, and not 100% sure I counted everything.

Not everyone of them spawns afaik Flesh Angels and a pair of robots never spawn

Yeah. Never saw a tribot before. Used to think brain blobs never existed until seeing one in my current one. Rarest I’ve ever seen is Shia LaBeouf. Only once I encountered him, or twice. Seen more Thrillers than that.

Lol, couple years ago almost every playthrough I happened to meet Shia. I actually even turned joke monsters off because of him jumping at me all the time ruining immersion.

What is Thriller? Another joke monster? I always play with joke monsters turned off now because of actual cannibal. That’s probably I’ve never met Thriller.

Thriller zombie. Turns other zombies into zombie dancers.

Zombie dancers nigh-unkillable. Insane amounts of health (several times more than a hulk) and regenerates like a shoggoth.

However, they don’t attack. You can stand in a middle of them and you’ll never get damaged.

However, kill the Thriller, and all those dancers become hulks.

Ive gotten damaged by a dancer before. Its rare and weak. They dont attack so much as try to move into you. you wont notice it unless you get pinned up against a wall by a swarm of them (almost died because of that). But generally if you see a dancer you can assume the area is pretty safe.

Yeah, zombie dancers can do a little damage from time to time. Pretty rare.

They have 1000 hp and regen 50 a round. Killing them is pretty hard.

Dancer corpses are like hulk corpses - HUGE, only one fits on a tile, and they take forever to butcher, giving tainted hide and tainted fat (and the usual stuff, too). I think that’s supposed to be a hint on what happens when you kill the thriller…

And, just in case any of you don’t know the reference, it’s to the Michael Jackson song, Thriller. If you kill the Thriller, you can get* a special glove (just one) and some other MJ stage attire.

*Well, it drops them… good luck actually GETTING them through a giant pile of hulks (especially if you play on x5 spawn!).

Should be doable with a good rifle. Managed it once and barely took damage - though that was before gun magazines were introduced. Things might go differently… or not, if ammo belts are used.

Oh, I’ve done it without taking any damage… it’s just not trivial.

I had mounted weapons on my vehicle, and I backed away from the horde as I killed them. The real problem was smashing all the corpses before they started getting back up again! I should have just used roadrollers and run over the a few times.
